April 2012 Hello Racers! Welcome to the 2012 Mass Bay Sailing Yearbook. The Yearbook is designed to be a reference guide to both Offshore sailing as well as One Design. Included in the book are individual Event Sailing Instructions, General Sailing Instructions, course descriptions and a wealth of other information. First of all, thanks to all of the racers (owners and crew) for a really great 2012 season. And Congratulations to the following skippers who competed in the 2012 Mass Bay Sailing Championship events and won their respective classes: Class A - Merriman Trophy - INDRA - Tom Linkas Class B - President’s Trophy - SUPERSTITION - Steve Spangler & Chris Zibailo Class C - Duplin Trophy - WHARF RAT - RJ DiMattia Class D - PHRF Trophy - TANK - Joshua Vogel & Ryan Murphy Class F - Doyle Trophy - SUMMERIN - Jody Graul Class G - Eclipse Trophy - FACET - Tom Tetrault J105 - NE Ocean Racing Trophy - STEELAWAY III - Doug & Peter Morgan Pursuit Spinnaker - Bradford Trophy - SUPERSTITION - Steve Spangler & Chris Zibailo Pursuit Jib&Main - Graul Trophy - CHARISMA - Richard Tubman Rookie of the Year - IL CATIVO - Pat Cerandolo Competitor(s) of the Year - KATABATIC & SCHERHERAZADE Gordon Hall - Hugh & Betsy Chandler Club of the Year - EASTERN YACHT CLUB Distinguished Service to Sailing - Walter Murphy There are a number of VERY IMPORTANT CHANGES for 2012 that we hope will lead to better competition and more racers out on the water. Highlights include: Comments from last year We made several changes last year that we feel were well received and made the season better. For this reason we will be leaving them unchanged and in place. They include: - The classes and class splits - unchanged - The use of the Mass Bay Season Scoring System (CHIPS) – unchanged - The elimination of the travel requirement for classes D & G – unchanged - The separation of the Spinnaker and the Jib&Main classes in the Pursuit Series - unchanged New Web Site We have completely updated our web site! Please go to www.massbaysailing.org and check it out. We hope that you will find it much easier to find the things that are important to you as well as much easier to navigate to others. We have added some new features and refined others. There is now a very clear News section, a new Calendar, a new Blog area and best of all a new Events area that ties in with our new Event Registration and Scoring System (ERSS). New Event Registration and Scoring System (ERSS) We are introducing this new system in order to make life as easy as possible for the competitor entering events. This is browser based so you can use it from your desktop, laptop, iPad or smartphone. You will find a link on our web site that takes you directly to a calendar of all the offshore events. This calendar can be filtered to show you just what you are interested in seeing. From this calendar you can select an event to register for. It takes you directly to that events site/page and lets you register and pay right there and then. There are a number of additional benefits that happen after you do this the first time. On subsequent registrations you will notice that all of your information will autofill making the process much faster. You can also register for multiple events at the same time and pay with one payment as well saving even more of your precious time. The new system will then post real time scratch sheets for you to reference. Once the event is done the results can be posted by the Race Committee in real time. These 2 are just a few of the very extensive benefits of this new system. We hope that you take advantage of it and enjoy using it for the events that allow it. Minor changes to the General Sailing Instructions There were a few minor changes to the General Sailing Instructions. To make it easier to find, they are now highlighted by a bounding box. Please be sure to read them in their entirety so you can be certain to understand all of the basic rules governing our racing. Membership deadline for Season Championships We have established a membership deadline of August 15th in order to qualify for the Season Championships. Please be sure that you have become a current member by then so that you can get a big shiny trophy at the end of the season! New Crew membership category added We have added the ability of the skipper when they are registering their membership to add as many crew members as they choose. If they do this at that time it will only cost $5 for each crew. This will put the crew onto our email blast mailing list giving them the ability to receive all the benefits of Individual membership at a $10 discount. Please consider getting their permission first and then adding them onto the list. Expanded Jib & Main Pursuit Championship The Pursuit Championship has been expanded from six to eight races. The two new races are the Constitution Yacht Club’s June Moon Chase Race and the Eastern Point Yacht Club’s Gloucester Ocean Pursuit Race. Qualification for the

  • Sabre 30 Manual
3/21/2017 Sabre 30 Owners Manual Dear Sabre Owner: We are pleased to enclose a copy of our new Sabre Owners Manual for your boat. We have strived to make it the finest and most complete in the industry, and trust that you will find it beneficial. There is a table of contents in the front of the manual which identifies each section with two numbers which are separated by a colon. The first number refers to the general section; the second alphabetically at the end of the manual. Illustrations are referred to by an illustration number (e.g. I14), and are located in the back of the manual. An Illustrations Index follows the table of contents. Certain diagrams refer only to a particular group of boats. These illustrations are identified by the hull numbers of those boats. Also, information in the text, illustrations, and diagrams may refer to optional equipment not found on your boat. Included in the manual are two copies of an Annual Safety Maintenance Check List. One is bound into the manual, the other is loose in order that copies can be made. It is very important that this maintenance inspection be carried out each year to assure the ongoing safety of your boat. We have strived to provide accurate information on your boat. However, all diagrams, dimensions, and data must be considered approximate on due to variations from boat to boat, and normal construction tolerances. The actual details of your boat should be confirmed by direct inspection or measurement. It is our sincere hope that you will find this manual useful in the operation and enjoyment of your Sabre.
