The ultimate pocket cruiser from the design board of John Welsford, similar to the more well known Scamp. Custom built to very nice 5213 Y/U standards and fully rigged and ready. Very good untitled storage trailer included. Untitled, unregistered small craft not intended for motorization. 1978 Cobalt Bowrider 19 with a Replaced 5 litre GM V-8 sterndrive. 2017 USCG 6005 safety inspection sticker. Runs well, electric shift, new upper outdrive, new lower Y/T outdrive, new prop. 9.9 hp Evinrude kicker motor and transom mount. Beautiful Cedar Strip rowing dinghy with sail rig. Would be a fun rowing dinghy for 6016 an adult or sailing dinghy for a kid. N 1980 North American Spirit 21 with titled trailer. Boat is in good overall condition. 6018 Sails and rigging are in good shape. Titled galvanized trailer and Nissan 5 HP Y/T outboard included. Great trailer sailer. 1988 18' Ebbtide Campione Bow Rider. 150 HP Mercury Engine that runs. great 6030 Y/U boat for skiing, tubing or just cruising. Sitting on a nice trailer 1987 Foli Star boat. She is in good overall condition with the expected wear and 6039 Y/T tear for her age and comes with a nice trailer with storage lockers. Older glass over wood Opti in good condition. Comes with a complete sailing rig, 6060 plus an extra newer sail, boom, and mast. Has inflatable flotation inside in the N event of capsizing. Great boat for teaching kids to sail or just splashing around in. 1987 Wellcraft 24' walkaround in good shape for her age. Mercury 260 HP 6070 Y/T sterndrive. Worthy project. 1987 Four Winns Sundowner 19.5' cuddy cabin with galvanized titled trailer. Boat is in good shape for her age. Cosmetically she could use some tlc here and there, 6139 Y/T but overall she is a solid boat. Mercruiser runs, teak swim platform, and bimini. Titled Trailer included. Beautiful 1927 wooden Old Town 17' canoe. She was totally restored in 1990, but is 6145 now due for another restoration. Would make for an easy project with a beautiful N end result. Hard boat to come by. Old Town Guide 147 Canoe- Durable, poly, recreational canoe 14' 7" with two nice 6154 N paddles, bow and stern handles. 2001 model in very good condition. 1997 Chaparral 2335 Special Edition. Boat has a custom canvas cover and bimini top in good condition. 6158 Old Town Discovery 164 Canoe with paddles. In good shape. N Older Alcort Sunfish in great condition for her age. Built by George Rossiter. Fore and aft buoyancy compartments make this boat unsinkable. 6177 N She is in great condition and has been well cared for. Shaw and Tenney Oars included. 1992 Sea-Doo XP with titled trailer. Nice jetski that needs mechanical work. Comes 6178 Y/T with a canvas cover. 1995 Starcraft SL-14 Aluminum skiff in good condition. Xpress Jon Boat 1998 17' Aluma-Weld john boat with 9.9 HP 4-stroke Honda 6205 outboard. This is a very wide, very functional welded jon boat. Great for fishing, Y/T crabbing, or waterfowling. Very nicely refurbished 1954 Penguin cat rigged sailing dinghy. 11' LOA with 2 6214 Y/T sails, one of which is like new. Sitting on a titled galvanized trailer. 1995 Rhodes 22 with titled trailer. Roller furling headsail and rollerfurling main. 6215 Y//T Boat is in good condition for her age. 6216 Avon inflatable sailing dinghy with sail rig and lee boards. Has a slow leak. N 1975 S-2 7.0 sloop with trailer. Nicely refurbished. Comes with Furlex furling, full 6217 batten main, 150% genoa, bimini, 1300lb lead keel and centerboard. Cabin has a Y/T porta potty, butane stove, sink, and icebox. 6218 1977 Snug Harbor 8' Fiberglass sailing dinghy. Foam cored dinghy with sail rig. N Sea Eagle inflatable kayak with three seats. Comes with carrying case, small anchor, 6220 N and 1 paddle. 1996 Offshore 18' Center console with storage trailer. Boat needs mechanical work 6221 Y/U but is a sound hull. Worthy Project. 1985 Cobalt 19 with titled tandem axle trailer. Powered by a Mercruiser 260 and fitted with a custom wakeboard tower and swim platform, this a great boat for 6227 Y/T watersports and family cruising. Boat has been bottom painted and has a custom mooring cover so she can be stored in the water or on the trailer.

    ‘SPRATS AND M INNOWS’ SOME S & S SMALL FRY BY PATRICK MATTHIESEN Last year I touched on the ‘pocket cruiser-racer’ of approximately 30ft LOA which many had considered to be the smallest practicable size for minimal comfort and safety, particularly with the vastly more Spartan early designs. Yet, as has often been pointed out in the past, there is an equation which simply does not work and it is this: Enjoyment + HCF 1 = LOA + Beam + SA x (£+$+E). In fact there are many able mathematicians who would argue the converse and that is that maximum enjoyment experienced when sailing is the LCD 2 of LOA ÷ Cost. Thus, wise sailors have long known that they are faster onto the water, spend less time commissioning and therefore enjoy more sailing closer to the water if their boats are small. The headaches are lessened, equipment costs a fraction of that for larger vessels and most jobs can be executed on a ‘do it yourself’ basis 3 Manhasset Bay O.D. Construction plan Copyright S&S Inc. The very first S & S design #1, The Manhasset Bay O.D. falls into this category. The contract was arranged by Drake Sparkman, Olin and Rod’s future broker partner (the partnership was not formed till the following year) at the Larchmont Y.C. The boat is a daysailor/racer rather than a cruiser, but she was the first of the breed and S & S never lost sight of the impecunious family man who, by buying a pedigree product, might later move on to bigger, and some would say better, things.

    ARCHIVE: Known Impacts of Tropical Cyclones, East Coast, 1858 – 2008 By Mr Jeff Callaghan Retired Senior Severe Weather Forecaster, Bureau of Meteorology, Brisbane The date of the cyclone refers to the day of landfall or the day of the major impact if it is not a cyclone making landfall from the Coral Sea. The first number after the date is the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) for that month followed by the three month running mean of the SOI centred on that month. This is followed by information on the equatorial eastern Pacific sea surface temperatures where: W means a warm episode i.e. sea surface temperature (SST) was above normal; C means a cool episode and Av means average SST Date Impact January 1858 From the Sydney Morning Herald 26/2/1866: an article featuring a cruise inside the Barrier Reef describes an expedition’s stay at Green Island near Cairns. “The wind throughout our stay was principally from the south-east, but in January we had two or three hard blows from the N to NW with rain; one gale uprooted some of the trees and wrung the heads off others.     windwardle The Official Newsletter of the Spring 1988 International Sunfish® Class Association Vol. II, No. 6 · ~ : . .I RETROSPECT: Jack Evans Looks Back (Part 1) ~ by Charlot Ras-A/lard It's hard to believe that the Sunfish (and its predecessor, the Sailfish) dates back 40 years. Twenty­ five North American champions have been crowned, and countless sailors from the America's Cup on down have raced the 'Fish at some point. Few had the vantage points that Jack Evans had. The scoreboard shows he garnered four Sailfish national titles between 1967 and 1970, was runner up at the 1974 Force 5 North Americans, won the first Super Sunfish North American Championship in 1975, sailed the C-Ciass catamaran, Weathercock, at the 1972 Little America's Cup in Australia, and, of course, earned the right to sail with a silver Sunfish on his sail at the 1972 North Americans at Sayville. Evans gained another perspective through his work " wearing many hats" at Alcort from 1969-1977, most notably as Class Secretary from 1969-1975. He later went on to: design and market the Phantom, become a Regional Sales Representative for Hobie, write the book " Techniques of One-Design Rac­ ing, " and testify in a Congressional hearing on the merits of Micron 33 while working at International Paint, Inc. Currently, he is employed by Beckson Marine, Inc. in Bridgeport, Connecticut. ) caught up with Jack at the 1988 New York Boat Show and later at his home in Guilford, Connecticut, reuniting after a "few" years. A more competitive group of owners started adding sail area and stripping out accommodation from their boats. Most people’s perception of a sports boat is a trailerable sailing boat with masses of sail area. While this was the genesis of sports boats there has been a gradual change. It became evident that sports boats needed to form their own separate group. ASBA was founded in 2007 by Cameron Rae, Mark Roberts and Richard Parkes. They wanted a more scientific handicapping system than had been employed in the past. In 2008 the Sportsboat Measurement System (SMS) was put in place by a body independent to ASBA. It was created by the same people who formulated the Australian Measurement System (AMS) in 1997. Sports boat racing has flourished across Australia under the ASBA banner, with the SMS rule encouraging high performance designs without the penalties that existed under other systems. Large asymmetrical spinnakers, in particular, are not penalised as harshly in the rating as the working sail area is, so that is why you see the sports boats with clouds of sails downwind. In Australia sports boats are defined as being between 5.8m and 8.5m in length and no more than 3.5m wide including hiking racks.

    The Wayfarer SKIMMER United State Wayfarer Asssociation – www.uswayfarer.org Winter 2020 Father, daughter team wins Mayor’s Cup Cooks enjoy sailing beloved Black Skimmer By Jim Cook W10873 The 43rd Mayor’s Cup regatta was hosted by Lake Townsend YC on Sept. 26-27, 2020. Lake Townsend is a small reservoir just outside of Greensboro, N.C.
