Position summary

We are in a period of exciting and significant investment in our Faculty of Health Science and in order to deliver on the University’s ambitious strategic plan, we are looking for Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to join The ’s, Discipline of Exercise Sports Science team. We are seeking to appoint a highly-motivated professional with a strong vision for the profession and the evolving role of the Exercise Science profession. You will join an established and highly-skilled teaching team and make a substantial contribution to the continued success of our well-funded research. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Exercise Physiology applied to the Exercise and Sport Science profession; but may come from any sub-discipline in that field. Areas of expertise that would be particularly valued by the discipline are the development of high-performance athletes, athlete talent identification, management of cardiovascular or musculoskeletal conditions, and cardiovascular physiology with an exercise emphasis. While this advertisement is not specific to a particular sub-discipline, the selection process will consider how applicants would complement the faculty’s existing teaching and research programs. Reporting into the Head of Discipline of Exercise and Sport Science, this position is offered as continuing full time (preferred) however part time at a minimum of 0.6FTE may be considered for the right candidate. This position is located at the Faculty of Health Sciences initially at the Lidcombe Campus before moving to Camperdown Campus in 2021.

About the Faculty of Medicine and Health

Sydney Pharmacy School

Academic pharmacy in the University of Sydney began almost 120 years ago. In 2018, approximately 1,400 students were enrolled in pharmacy courses including the Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Pharmacy and Management, Master of Pharmacy, and Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice programs.

With over 100 higher degree research students, the school has the largest postgraduate pharmacy research program in Australia. Strong research collaborations have been developed across the University of Sydney and its affiliated teaching hospitals and research institutes, and with the pharmaceutical industry.

Major research themes comprise cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, respiratory disease and mental health, as well as health services and patient safety.
