De Amicis comprende 7 mila volumi: 4 mila fanno parte del Fondo di Conservazione (opere da fine Ottocento al 1960, tra le quali molti testi scolastici) e quasi 3 mila sono le opere del Fondo di Modernariato, comprendente libri rari e di pregio stampati tra il 1961 ai giorni nostri, oltre ad un’ampia sezione storica dedicata al fumetto. Si tratta di un patrimonio bibliografico dedicato interamente alla Letteratura Giovanile, nella sua evoluzione storica ed editoriale, implementato negli anni grazie a donazioni e a nuove acquisizioni bibliografiche. Nella sezione concernente il fumetto troviamo i grandi classici, da Sergio Toppi ad Andrea Pazienza, Milo Manara, Guido Crepax, Dino Battaglia, impreziosite da un buon numero di tavole originali di Marciante e di Sergio Toppi.
