After the wreck of his ships, a financially-ruined merchant exiles himself in the countryside with his six children. Among them is Beauty, his youngest daughter, a joyful girl full of grace. One day, during an arduous journey, the merchant stumbles across the magical domain of the Beast, who sentences him to death for stealing a rose. Feeling responsible for the terrible fate which has befallen her family, Beauty decides to sacrifice herself and take her father’s place. At the Beast’s castle, it is not death that awaits Beauty, but a strange life in which fantastical moments mingle with gaiety and melancholy. Every night, at dinner, Beauty and the Beast sit down together. They learn about each other, taming one another like two strangers who are total opposites. When she has to repulse his amorous advances, Beauty tries to pierce the mysteries of the Beast and his domain. And when night falls, the Beast’s past is revealed to her bit by bit in her dreams. It is a tragic story, which tells her that this solitary and fearsome being was once a majestic prince. Armed with her courage, ignoring every danger, and opening her heart, Beauty manages to release the Beast from his curse. And in doing so, she discovers true love. PRODUCERS Jérôme Seydoux After the phenomenal success of « Welcome to the Sticks », Dany Boon which generated more than USD 200M$ worldwide, the crowd pleasing duo Kad Merad and Dany Boon meet again for a new comedy! Romain Faubert is alone going on 40, has no wife and no children. His profession as a photographer for an online medical dictionary does nothing to alleviate his acute hypochondria, which for too long has been the ruling element in his life, reducing him to a bundle of fear and neuroses. The internet elicits compulsive Google searches that start out with little aches and pains and inevitably wind up with results on metastasized cancer. This does little to assuage his phobias about germs and disease. His one and only friend is his general practitioner, Dr. Dimitri Zvenka, who upon first meeting Romain made the fatal error of actually liking him a state of affairs he now bitterly regrets. Romains psychosomatic problems are an endless source of trouble and Dimitri would give anything to get rid of him once and for all, especially now that he has become quite the intrusive patient. Romain often invites himself to sleep over at Dimitri’s house, which is really starting to get on the nerves of the doctor’s wife. However, Dr. Zvenka thinks he’s found a remedy, one that will usher Romain Faubert out the door forever - help him find the woman of his dreams. He invites him to parties, signs him up for online dating, gets him to work out and even coaches him on his seduction techniques and ways to interact with women. But finding that rare jewel, someone who can tolerate his idiosyncrasies and who, out of love, will help him overcome his hypochondria, turns out to be more of a challenge than it first seemed. • Sight & Sound Films of 2007
Sight & Sound Films of 2007 Each year we ask a selection of our contributors - reviewers and critics from around the world - for their five films of the year. It's a very loosely policed subjective selection, based on films the writer has seen and enjoyed that year, and we don't deny them the choice of films that haven't yet reached the UK. And we don't give them much time to ponder, either - just about a week. So below you'll find the familiar and the obscure, the new and the old. From this we put together the top ten you see here. What distinguishes this particular list is that it's been drawn up from one of the best years for all-round quality I can remember. 2007 has seen some extraordinary films. So all of the films in the ten are must-sees and so are many more. Enjoy. - Nick James, Editor. 1 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days (Cristian Mungiu) 2 Inland Empire (David Lynch) 3 Zodiac (David Fincher) = 4 I’m Not There (Todd Haynes) The Lives of Others (Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck) 6 Silent Light (Carlos Reygadas) = 7 The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (Andrew Dominik) Syndromes and a Century (Apichatpong Weerasethakul) No Country for Old Men (Ethan and Joel Coen) Eastern Promises (David Cronenberg) 1 Table of Contents – alphabetical by critic Gilbert Adair (Critic and author, UK)............................................................................................4 Kaleem Aftab (Critic, The Independent, UK)...............................................................................4 Geoff Andrew (Critic

Director Kornél Mundruczó (White God, winner of the Prix Un Certain Regard Award, 2014) and partner/screenwriter Kata Wéber craft a deeply personal meditation and ultimately transcendent story of a woman learning to live alongside her loss. SYNOPSIS Martha and Sean Carson (Vanessa Kirby, Shia LaBeouf) are a Boston couple on the verge of parenthood whose lives change irrevocably during a home birth at the hands of a flustered midwife (Molly Parker), who faces charges of criminal negligence. Thus begins a year-long odyssey for Martha, who must navigate her grief while working through fractious relationships with her husband and her domineering mother (Ellen Burstyn), along with the publicly vilified midwife whom she must face in court. From director Kornél Mundruczó (White God, winner of the Prix Un Certain Regard Award, 2014), with artistic support from executive producer Martin Scorsese, and written by Kata Wéber, Mundruczó’s partner, comes a deeply personal, searing domestic aria in exquisite shades of grey and an ultimately transcendent story of a woman learning to live alongside her loss.

  • Oxford Lecture 1 - Final Master
OXFORD LECTURE 1 - FINAL MASTER HOW TO GROW A CREATIVE BUSINESS BY ACCIDENT The legendarily bullish film director Alan Parker once adapted Shaw's famous dictum about the academic profession - "those who can, do. Those who can't teach." So far so familiar. And to many in this room, no doubt, so annoying. But he went on: "those who can't teach, teach gym. And those who can't teach gym, teach at film school." I appreciate that Oxford is not a film school, though it has a more distinguished record than any film school for supplying the talent that has fuelled the British film and TV industries for almost a century - on and off camera. Writers like Richard Curtis, who brought us 4 Weddings and a Funeral, Love Actually, The Vicar of Dibley and Blackadder; or The Full Monty and Slumdog Millionaire scribe Simon Beaufoy; directors of the diversity of Looking for Eric's Ken Loach and 24 Hour Party People's Michael Winterbottom; writer/directors like Monty Python's Terry Jones and the Thick of It's Armando Iannucci; actors and performers ranging from Hugh Grant to Rowan Atkinson; and broadcasting luminaries like the BBC's Director General Mark Thompson and News International's very own Rupert Murdoch. So, Oxford has been a pretty efficient film and TV school, without even trying. And perhaps that is Parker's point. Can what passes for creativity in film and TV ever really be taught? But here in my capacity as News International Visiting Professor of Broadcast Media (or if you prefer an acronym, NIVPOB - the final M is silent) I may be even further down Parker's food chain.

Background of the Study One of the real problems in human’s daily life is anxiety. Anxiety can include many aspects of life such as social, economic, religious and cultural aspect. Everyone ever has anxiety in his life. Commonly people does not like problem because they tend to get pleasure in their life. When human gets problem in his life and cannot solve it, he tries as far as he can to avoid it. But human cannot escape from this problem. By avoiding it, human will get anxiety in his life. Problem cannot be avoided. Human must overcome it and handle his problem because it can reduce the anxiety. As one of the psychoanalytic principles, anxiety is part of psychology study. The foremost investigator of the psychoanalytic is Vienna neurologist and psychologist Sigmund Freud. Freud (in Feist, 1985: 25) theorized that the root of human problems was psychological, not physical. He divides the psyche into three parts: id, ego, and superego. In literature, human problem sometimes become the interesting things to explore. The problem is sometimes pictured by an author. The problem is then developed by an author to create a story of his own. An author blends it in a story that becomes one of work of arts.
