Your Browser needs updated.

The City of Olathe Utility appointment request form has been updated to adhere to security guidelines set forth by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The NIST is charged with setting protocol for the U.S. government. As security upgrades are launched, they are adopted first by government institutions, with public companies following suit.

What to do. All web browsers display content a little bit differently. These issues can commonly be resolved by upgrading your to the latest version.

Current versions of the web browsers listed above can be downloaded from: • : http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/download-ie • : ://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ • Chrome: https://www.google.com/chrome/. On Android platform only supported by v4.4 “KitKat or newer • Apple : Via Apple Updates on OS X

Still have Issues or Can’t Update just yet? The good news If your browser is one of those that hasn’t yet been updated, you’ve got a few options: 1) Check your browser’s “About” tab to locate your version information and download any pending updates. You should be good to go once that’s done. For example, if you use Internet Explorer, you’ll go to the Tools menu, and select “About Internet Explorer.”

A window will appear, showing which version you have installed.

If you’re using anything older than IE version 10, follow this link to upgrade to IE 11.

2) If your browser is up to date, but you’re still seeing the error message, that means your particular browser has not yet implemented the new security protocol. To get to like ours that use the new protocol, you’ll want to switch to a browser that’s been updated to TLS 1.2, such as ™, Google Android™, Firefox® 39.0, , or Apple Safari® 8 for Mac (Apple OS X 10.10). 3) If you cannot update your browser (due to conflicting software or IT policy in your organization for example) you can adjust your IE settings to support TLS 1.2. In Internet Explorer, you’ll go to the Tools menu, and select “Internet Options.”

A window will appear, switch to the “Advanced” tab on the far right side. Scroll down until you see the TLS Settings.

Make sure the “Use TLS 1.0, Use TLS 1.1, and Use TLS 1.2” check boxes are all checked.

Click “Ok”.

Return to the Browser page and Select the refresh button.

You should now have to ability to open the appointment form.

Want to Read More? The Request form and application is replacing current HTTPS certificates with new certificates signed with the SHA-256 hash algorithm. Older HTTPS protocols will be disabled as of August 19, 2015. SSLv2, SSLv3, and TLS 1.0 will no longer be supported.

You will need to ensure the internet browsers used to connect to the Utility Locate Request system are capable of accepting the new certificates and communicating with the TLS 1.1 or TLS 1.2 protocol.
