RECORD CROWDS OVER THE WEEKEND--Last weekend’s four-game series vs. the Tigers drew 143,609 fans to Kauffman Stadium, with the final three games selling out...it marked the seventh-largest attendance figure for a four-game set in Kauffman history, while it’s the largest since the stadium underwent renovations prior to the 2009 season...also, it was the earliest in the season that the Royals have drawn 120,000-plus fans to a series of any length, and last weekend’s attendance was a full 25% higher than any other four-game series since 2009, with the previous highs coming August 12-15, 2013 vs. Boston (114,283) and the same dates in 2010 vs. the Yankees (114,235)...fans have been packing the park all season as 402,553 people have come through the turnstiles here, up 146,782 from last year’s total through 13 home games (255,771). TOUGH WITH TWO DOWN--Kansas City plated a pair of two-out runs Sunday, which shouldn’t come as a surprise as the club has scored nearly 45 percent of their runs with two down (57 of 128)...heading into tonight, KC leads the Majors in two-out hitting (.308), a full 20 points ahead of Boston (.288), which is second... while the club also leads the bigs, hitting .330 (38-for-115) with two outs and runners in scoring position...the Royals are also rank second in two-out runs (57), hits (90), RBI (55) and are third in on-base (.367) and slugging pct. (.457)...predictably, several individual players have put up impressive two-out numbers as leads the , hitting .481 (13-for-27) with two outs and is second with a .548 on-base percentage...Kendrys Morales has scored 12 runs with two down, which leads MLB, while he’s tied for the A.L. lead with 14 hits...Salvador Perez is tied for second in the Majors with 12 two-out RBI.

ROYALS TO DEBUT “LOS REALES” JERSEYS IN JULY--The Royals announced today that the club will debut a specialized jersey with their Spanish name “Los Reales” on the front for their game against the on Saturday, July 25...two-time All-Star catcher Salvador Perez and catching showed off the new threads at a news conference this afternoon...a t-shirt replica of the “Los Reales” jerseys were handed out to fans for tonight’s game, the first ‘T-Shirt Tuesday’ promotion of the season.

FARMHAND FUENMAYOR HONORED--Royals minor league first baseman Balbino Fuenmayor (pronounced: FWHEYN-my-ore) was named Texas League Player of the Week, after going 15-for-27 (.556) with four doubles, a homer and 12 RBI in six games for Northwest Arkansas last week, helping power the Naturals on their current nine-game winning streak...Fuenmayor signed with the KC this offseason after spending the last seven years in the Blue Jays organization, never playing higher than Class A...however, through 20 games with the Naturals, he’s hitting .363, which ranks sixth in the Texas League, while he’s also ninth with a .944 OPS.

CENTRALIZING THE SCHEDULE--Kansas City will wrap up its first tour through the A.L. Central this week with three games here against Cleveland a three- game set in Detroit this weekend, giving the Royals one home and one road series with each division rival...since April 20, the club has played nothing but division opponents, going 7-6 thus far...the Royals are 11-8 overall in division play, which is a stark contrast to last season when the club dropped 15 of their first 20 contests against Central foes, including three of their first four against theTribe.

OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT--The Royals will look to make it 9-for-9 tonight in series opening games as KC has won the first game in each of its eight series this season...dating back to the end of last regular season, the club has won 10-straight set starters and 11 of their last 12...taking the opener has helped the Royals earn five series victories this season and one four-game split, while since the end of 2014, KC has won eight of last 12 sets with one split.

ROYALS MAINTAIN TOP RUN DIFFERENTIAL--Despite a 6-4 loss Sunday, the Royals held on to the best run differential in the Majors, having outscored their opponents by 45 runs this season (128-83)...KC is even for the month of May, having outscored their opposition by 45 runs in April, which was the club’s best single month since August of 1980, when the Royals were plus 53...KC’s +45 this season is four runs better than Missouri’s other Major League entry, St. Louis (+41), while they lead the surprising Houston Astros (+36) by nine for the American League lead.

LEADERS OF THE PACK--While Kansas City lost ground on the best record in the American League over the weekend, the Royals remain on top in several other categories...through 25 games, the club leads the Majors in batting average (.296) and on-base pct. (.349), hits (260) and has struck out the fewest times (141)...the Royals are also fifth in the Majors in slugging pct. (.434) and in doubles (52)...while on the mound, KC’s pitchers are tied with Houston for the lowest ERA (3.08) in the A.L., having allowed the fewest runs (83) in the Junior Circuit, while they’re tied with Tampa Bay (182) for second-fewest hits allowed in the A.L...KC has also committed the third-fewest errors in the A.L. (13), behind only the Rays (7) and Tigers (10).

BETTER LATE--Much like their two-out offensive numbers, Kansas City has been clutch late in games this season, leading the Majors with a .305 batting average in the seventh inning or later...the Royals scored all four of their runs Sunday after the sixth inning ended and have tallied the third-most runs in baseball (48) from the seventh inning on, compared to just 12 by their opposition...individually, Eric Hosmer ranks eighth in the American League, batting .387 (12-for-31) late in games, with four doubles and a triple for a .581 slugging percentage, while Lorenzo Cain and Kendrys Morales have each collected seven RBI from the seventh on, which are tied for sixth-most in the A.L.

NED MOVING ON UP--The 16th full-time manager in Royals history, managed his 800th game in a Kansas City uniform Sunday, which is the most in franchise history, while his 1,759 career games on the bench ranks 67th all-time, just 11 behind Billy Southwick for the 66th spot...Ned has posted a 389-411 mark as KC skipper, 21 victories shy of tying (410) as the winningest manager in team history... he’s also 15 wins shy of second place (404)... Yost was named to his post on May 13, 2010, his second stint as a big league manager after nearly six full campaigns at the helm for the (2003- 2008)...he compiled a 457-502 record with the Brew Crew including a 166-146 mark in his last two seasons...Ned’s 846 career wins are good for 72nd all-time.
