Searching the Night Sky Winter is the perfect time to visit the farm at night. While it's true our view of the Blue Ridge Mountains is pretty spectacular, the night sky at the farm is amazing in its own right.

Since there is very little 'light pollution'

in Long Creek, you're able to enjoy

seeing more stars than you would in an urban area. Lomax Observation Circle is used by astronomy groups and amateur star gazers alike- bring a telescope if you have one, a warm blanket and enjoy the impressive nightly show. The next full moon is Thursday, December 17th. And check out dazzling Venus all month long. The brightest of all planets, Venus won't be this bright again until 2021. It adorns the southwestern evening sky three hours after sundown.
