Dr. John Hole PTO – General Meeting (November 13, 2018 @ 6:30 p.m.) Call to Order ● Welcome/Introductions ● In attendance: Maria Rigling, Carla Berkshire, Joy Trudics, Lisa Mays, Carli, Anna Randolph, Joe Forbes, Sara North Executive Board Reports ● Principal: Lisa Mays ο Positive feedback on trunk-or-treat ο Positive feedback on Program on Wheels and the Author program ● President: Carla Berkshire ο Ordered a playground equipment cart but haven’t seen verification of order, will send to Paula to investigate ● Vice-President: Maria Rigling ο School store coming this Friday, was an increase after announcement and signs from the last meeting ● Treasurer: Carli Goodrich ο Fun Run deposit over $4k ο Deposit from 99 Pledges came- will double check on total for this ο School store expenses and Family Night expenses ο Request for Principal fund higher than budgeted- need to update the budget ο $7k is fine, Carli to update ● Assistant Treasurer: Megan Wagner – On Service Leave ● Recording Secretary: Joy Trudics ● Corresponding Secretary: Joy Trudics Committee Reports (Past Month – October) ● Community Rewards o Only 2 people signed up for Amazon Smile, will try again before Black Friday/Cyber Monday in an email listserv to all families o Send a single flyer w/instructions home with the kids, Sara to make it and email it in to Lisa and Paula, will offer gift card raffle with participation ● Trunk-or-Treat o Very positive feedback o Lots of interest in the popcorn and apple cider – possible volunteers for next year o For next year: parents can only give out one piece of candy, add a few activities to prevent kids from going multiple times ▪ Pumpkin carving contest done by teachers for kids to vote and vise-versa Committee Reports (Future Month – November) ● Spiritwear – Distributed o Mystery bag showed up at the office, Lisa distributed to the kids appropriately, have 1 extra sweatshirt will wait for parent to call or come in to ask o May try embellished threads next time ● Directory o Goes out this week, printed available Monday o Next year we go 100% digital ● Give Back Night – November 14 Dr. John Hole PTO – General Meeting (November 13, 2018 @ 6:30 p.m.) o Ms. Niekamp working with Student Council and Alpha Club on this with a few selected charities, will have information available during the event o 5 stations: random acts of kindness calendar making, 4 Angles for Anna (ceramic wind chime making for families who have lost a child), Card decorating for nursing homes, candy treat bag making with leftover candy for goody bags, magnet making for monetary donations ● Book Fair – November 27 o Tuesday 11/27 set-up night before (Monday night) the rep may also help, will work with her to place an order based on forecasted popular items o Will find out about 5 days prior to delivery to make arrangements, should be Thanksgiving week. Paula provided times to the rep when someone would be here. Maria will work with Kevin if needed. Mr. Forbes will be around to help if needed. o Encouraging teachers to preview at lunch Tuesday or after school. Big thing is wish lists for the teachers and recommendation cards ▪ Raffle for Scholastic dollars for completing the wish lists o Lots of morning traffic, open Monday during lunch for teachers that weren’t purchased from the wish lists, similar to last year o A little over 50% on volunteers, still need help- some areas have NO volunteers ▪ Lisa can ask aides if needed ● Family Movie Night – November 30 at 6:30 o Coco language might be iffy, but isn’t as long as Lego Batman o Lego Batman movie language worse, movie is also over 2-hours- NO o Boss Baby language is toilet humor- NO o Will have raffles to the Book Fair and DVD of movie being shown o Allowing snacks and drinks in closed containers (provided from home) o Split raffle – do scholastic dollars before the movie and raffle the DVD afterwards o Will we play previews while people shop? ▪ Had some negative comments, will try to skip them ● Adopt-a-Family o 6 local children, $75/child o Should see the information on Friday, will forward the info to those that can shop o Due Thursday, 12/6 between 3-7:30 @ Cline ▪ Joy will shop o For reimbursements must provide receipts or use the PTO debit cards Old Business: ● Playground Shed and Equipment o Delivered to maintenance o Gaga pit delivered to maintenance New Business: ● Teacher surveys – can resend as some teachers haven’t seen it o Lisa- Paula was going to print it and pass it out in the mailboxes Next Meetings: PTO - Tuesday, January 15, 2018 @ 6:30 p.m. in the IMC Carnival – Tuesday, January 15, 2018 @ Immediately Following PTO Meeting .
