The Fives Federation

We’re reflecting at the end of a busy season in which all three codes have seen large numbers getting involved, from beginners to experts and in both friendly and competitive matches. Rugby Fives is blessed with exciting rivalries atop both men’s and women’s games; Eton Fives has seen record breaking from Tom Dunbar and the Cooley siblings, while the Wallball European ProTour goes from strength to strength, with Brits central to its success. There’s an eye to the future, Wallball’s world too, as UK Wallball is buzzing MAIN Timbo fulfils media duties with exciting projects, from INSET Timbo in action stroke rehab to new schools best tries Fives playing at Westway by way of On 11 and 12 March the EFA showed off his amazing co- with coaches Mike Hughes and an increased number of hosted a visit from the world’s ordination, athleticism and ball Sam Welti before paying a visit to coaches. Players need courts near where they live or work and we know from experience that players also need to be organised and coached, otherwise courts will stand empty. There are plenty of ideas for where this money will come from but the generosity of an anonymous donor has provided the finance to run a development office for two years to raise the money, identify good projects and see them through to the point when they become part of the regular Eton Fives scene.

We are starting the recruitment campaign for two development managers shortly, so keep an eye on etonfives.com and the EFA Facebook page for updates.

It is a tough task and the EFA will need the support of the whole community to achieve it – everyone can help in their own way. Ideas and useful contacts for fundraising and projects can be just as valuable as donations.
