ADMINISTRATIVE ACTIONS REPORT June 1 through September 6, 2012
This report describes the activities that EAB staff performed in response to the board’s oversight role under s.38.50, Wis. Stats. SCHOOL ACTIONS A. New School Approval: • Advanced Welding Institute, Sugar Camp, WI – The school opened its doors to welding students in August 2003 in Vermont. AWI’s curriculum is based on four proven strategies; lecture and discussion, demonstration, individual practice and systematic practical and written testing. • American Intercontinental University, Schaumburg, IL – The school was founded in Europe in 1970 on the premise that universities should transcend the bounds of the traditional, theoretical approach to education by providing students with a curriculum that prepares them for successful, productive careers. AIU is committed to developing curricula that provide students with career preparation in business, criminal justice, design and media arts, education, and information technology. • Centura College (Online), Virginia Beach, VA – The school is nationally accredited by the Accrediting Commission on Career Schools and Colleges and offers both Associate's and Bachelor's completion degrees. Students can choose from programs in business, health care, law enforcement, aviation or technology. • Core Essence Yoga Teacher Training, Milwaukee, WI - Core Essence 245-hour Yoga Teacher Training is foundational training rooted in Ashtanga yoga, the eight limbs. With an emphasis on the limb of asana, primarily vinyasa, this training provides students with the knowledge, practice, and experience to become inspiring, creative, and knowledgeable yoga teachers. • IYT Yoga Teacher Training at Haleybird Studios, Milwaukee, WI - The Integrative Yoga Therapy (IYT) Teacher Training program at Haleybird Studios is for individuals who want to teach yoga as a healing art. Integrative Yoga Therapy has been a pioneer and leader for more than 15 years in training Yoga professionals to bring ancient insights of Yoga into mainstream wellness programs. • Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts – Scottsdale, Scottsdale, AZ - Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, formerly known as Scottsdale Culinary Institute, created through the vision of Elizabeth Sherman Leite in 1986, combines her educational background, experience, and zeal for properly prepared cuisine. • Minneapolis College of Art and Design (Online), Minneapolis, MN – The college is home to more than 700 students. The campus is located just south of downtown Minneapolis and is composed of eight buildings and three acres of lawn and gardens. College facilities contain the latest in technology, with multiple studios and labs open 24 hours a day. Founded in 1886, it was one of the first colleges to offer the BFA degree. • National American University (Online), Rapid City, SD - The university builds learning partnerships with students and other institutions and organizations locally, nationally and internationally through its private, regionally accredited system of campuses and education centers offering courses in traditional, accelerated and distance learning formats. • Ohio Christian University (Online), Circleville, OH – The school was founded in 1948 as Circleville Bible College for the purpose of educating clergy for the Churches of Christ in Christian Union. While remaining true to its founders' vision, Ohio Christian University has expanded its outreach by becoming accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association and the Association for Biblical Higher Education and adding associate, bachelor, and master's degree programs in disciplines such as agribusiness, disaster management, psychology, and substance abuse counseling. • Trident University International (Online), Cypress, CA - In 1998, Trident University International was established as a branch campus of Turo College of New York and accredited under the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Because TUI was located in California and due to its robust growth, fiscal and operational stability, and unique delivery model, TUI was separately accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in 2005 and maintains WASC accreditation. • University of Denver (Online), Denver, CO - As the oldest independent college in the Rocky Mountain region, the University enrolls 12,000 students, half of them graduate students, in a mix of traditional and professional programs. They are an international, research-focused institution, with 69% of undergraduate students studying abroad. • Webster University (Online), St. Louis, MO - The school operates as a private, nonprofit, accredited university offering undergraduate and graduate education. The home campus is located in Webster Groves, MO, a picturesque suburb of St. Louis. The school has grown since it was established in 1915 and now includes more than 100 campus locations throughout the United States and across the globe. B. Kaplan University, 6/4/2012, Due to the mitigating circumstances, the school recalculated the refund and reduced charges for student's second term of enrollment. • Olson, Donna v. Medical Assets of Wisconsin, 7/31/2012, Exempt from EAB - belongs with the Department of Health Sciences and DATCP.
