While studying at any Webster campus, you will benefit from the University’s unique global network and the international perspectives of its academic programs. Students have access to classes taught in English by Webster University faculty from around the world, resulting in a Webster University degree. Webster University, with campuses in North America, Europe, Central and East Asia and Africa, has been recognized as a leader in international education for more than 40 years, and its global orientation dates back to the early 1900s. The University’s academic programs are both personalized and flexible. You choose your major and Webster provides the academic guidance to help you select appropriate courses to attain your academic and career goals. A key element of Webster’s educational approach is its focus on hands-on, practical applications. Research with faculty, participation in conferences and co-curricular activities are just some of the high-impact learning practices that distinguish this U.S.-style of education. Annually selected as one of America’s best colleges by both Forbes and U.S. News & World Report, Webster University’s unique educational environment blends the conveniences of a small university with the opportunities of a large one. Building capacity in the Republic of Uzbekistan through an innovative public- private partnership, the Tashkent campus has quickly become Webster’s largest campus outside the United States. After engaging in exploratory talks with the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education and Uzbek universities beginning in 2012, Webster University developed a framework to expand Webster’s presence in Central Asia while meeting the needs of Uzbekistan’s workforce and economic development goals. The partnership was formalized in 2018 with the launch of Webster’s Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) program in Uzbekistan, enrolling 120 students in the first term. The success of this pilot was followed a year later by the launch of additional Webster programs in business and As one of the oldest cities in Central Asia, Tashkent offers so communications, with more undergraduate and much to explore. The relationship has also led to more Uzbek students pursuing degree programs at Webster’s campuses in Europe and the United States. Introducing programs like TESL fulfill strategic needs for the Republic, in this instance equipping more Uzbek educators to teach English to Uzbek youth, thereby increasing their capacity to undertake degree programs in English. These programs also leverage Webster’s existing strengths as a global university with diverse academic offerings and a faculty accustomed to global mobility. 7 Athens GREECE Greece, the cradle of Western civilization, is the birthplace of democracy, Western philosophy, drama and literature, the Olympic Games, historiography, political science, and major scientific and mathematical principles. Webster’s Athens campus is in the heart of this ancient land, located at the historical district of Plaka, at the foothills of the Acropolis. The campus is an excellent location for formal study, and walking around the streets near the university provides priceless glimpses of so much of this ancient yet modern city. With its extraordinary artistic, intellectual and cultural heritage, Athens is richly endowed with resources for formal study and experiential learning, and Webster’s location and academic programs offer the perfect complement. The museums at the Acropolis and the ancient Agora, as well as the National Archaeological Museum, the Cycladic Museum, and the Benaki collections are within minutes of the Webster campus facilities. Athens stands as the birthplace of much of Western culture. Some of the world’s greatest academic, philosophical, legal Part of the Webster network since 2014, Webster and artistic minds called Greece home making Athens a Athens has offered academic programming that natural choice in furthering one’s academic career. Throughout this bustling, cosmopolitan city, cultural events such as concerts, recitals, dance and theater, as well as international trade shows, conferences and symposia, public lectures, gallery exhibits, sports events and marathons, are an integral part of life at this confluence of Europe, Asia and Africa. The presence of faculty and classmates from many continents—including visiting faculty and students from other schools— only add to the student experience. 8 Accra GHANA Opened in 2013, the campus in Accra marks the fourth continent where Webster University offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs. “Akwaaba!”—“Welcome!” in the Akan family of languages—is how visitors instantly feel upon their arrival in Ghana. The new Webster Accra campus provides opportunities for students throughout Africa who desire an American-style education close to home. The campus also provides students from around the world a new avenue to global citizenship by studying in this important West African country, which boasts a growing middle class and growing economy, a strong focus on infrastructure and a multi-party democratic government. Ghana’s capital city is not only the largest but one of the Webster’s Accra location resides in the heart of friendliest cities to visit and study in.
