Building capacity in the Republic of Uzbekistan through an innovative public- private partnership, the Tashkent campus has quickly become Webster’s largest campus outside the United States. After engaging in exploratory talks with the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education and Uzbek universities beginning in 2012, Webster University developed a framework to expand Webster’s presence in Central Asia while meeting the needs of Uzbekistan’s workforce and economic development goals. The partnership was formalized in 2018 with the launch of Webster’s Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) program in Uzbekistan, enrolling 120 students in the first term.
