Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Program (Ru-WatSP)

Around 870 families in Nuristan were provided with potable water

With the total cost of 10,933,828 AFN, four water supply projects have been recently accomplished and handed over in center, Waygal and Wama districts of . These projects included construction of four gravity- fed water supply networks in Shar- i-Naw village in Asadabad, Hoz and Sheena Gul villages of Waygal district and Archano Ulya village in Wama district. With the completion of these water supply networks, around 373 families in Shar-i-Naw village, around 155 families in Hoz village, around 190 families in Sheena Gul village, and around 155 families in Archano Ulya village got access to clean drinking water. These projects were implemented through the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Program (Ru-WatSP) of Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD). It is worthy to be mentioned that over 70% budget of these projects was funded by UNICEF, while almost 30% of it was funded by Ministry of Finance (MoF) through the State budget.

The project cost 2,559,676 AFN which were funded through the State budget by Ministry of Finance. The construction affairs of this project created as many as 1,475 working days, and with its completion, around 250 families got access to clean drinking water.

Around 300 families in Qadis district got access to potable water With the total outlay of 3,264,000 AFN, funded by UNICEF, a solar-powered water supply network has been recently accomplished and handed over in Khalifa Ayaz village in Qadis district of . With the completion of this water supply network, around 300 families in Khalifa Ayaz village got access to piped drinking water at their homes. The project included digging of one deep well, construction of a 40-cubic meter water reservoir, extension of 3,785-meter long pipe network and installation of 20 solar panels. The project was implemented by the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Program (Ru-WatSP) of Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD).

2 Two water supply networks handed over in Kunar, Nuristan

The Rural Water Supply and Sanitatoin Program (Ru-WatSP) of Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) constructed and handed over two drinking water supply networks in Gardab village in of and in Kando village in Norgarm district of Nuristan province. The total cost of these projects is 4,800,000 AFN which was funded by UNICEF. The construction affairs of these projects created as many as 240 working days and with their completion around 400 families got access to clean drinking water. Clean drinking water provided for 400 families, 1200 students in Matoon

The Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Program (Ru-WatSP) of Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) constructed and handed over a solar-powered water supply network in “Kundi” village in Matoon area in . The project included digging a deep well, extension of a 3,000-meter long pipe network, construction of a 20,000-liter elevated water reservoir and a 6,000-liter water reservoir in girls school and installation of 30 solar panels and 84 taps. With the completion of this project, around 400 families in “Kundi” village and 1200 students of a Girls School got access to clean drinking water. The total outlay of the project was 4.0 million AFN, which was given by Ministry of Finance (MoF) through the State budget.

3 Clean drinking water was provided for 130 families in Ismail Khel Mandozi district, Khost The Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Program (Ru-WatSP) of Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) constructed and recently handed over a solar-powered water supply network in “Shahbaz Khan” village in Ismail Khel Mandozi district of Khost province. The project included extension of a 2,000-meter long pipe network, rehabilitation of a 20,000-liter elevated water reservoir and installation of 27 solar panels and 26 taps. With the completion of this project, around 130 families in Shahbaz Khan village got access to clean drinking water. The total outlay of this project was 1.7 million AFN, which was funded by Ministry of Finance through the State budget.
