Description The original Cariad was a stately twenty four bedroom typically English country mansion in the tudor style overlooking the River Thames in a village called Goring-on-Thames in Oxfordshire and was built in 1910 by Major Charles John Chetwynd-Talbot 20th Earl of Shrewsbury and 5th Earl of Talbot KCVO as an act of Love for his Mistress the Love of his life Miss Nellie Brownlee a well known actress of the day at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

In 1972 the property was sold to a property developer who wanted to demolish the house to build 40 flats.
