Our College got approval from the university to start PG Courses in six subjects namely Commerce, Chemistry, Defence Studies, Sociology, Education and Political Science. 2. This year too Digvijay Nath Memorial Lecture series was organized from 25th – 31st August 2017 to promote social moral and national values among students. See Annexure - VII 3. On this day various gender sanitization programmes were organized by the different departments. (i) A poster competition was organized by the students of B.Ed. departments raising various issues which a women face in the society. (ii) One day workshop was organized by the sociology department on ‘Beti Padhao and Beti Bachao’ on 30th of January 2018. (iii) A play was organized on female feticide by commerce department on 21st of November, 2017. (iv) Apart from these, programmes of gender sensitization were also organized by the N.S.S. wing of the College. 14. Students were provided opportunity to present paper in their subjects by the B.Ed., Psychology and PG departments - Ancient History, Hindi & Geography to enhance the skill of writing paper in them and to develop their confidence to express their views. 15. Following social activities have been organized by the college in this session - (i) Social awareness programmes such as ‘Cleanliness Campaign’ and ‘Voter Awareness Campaign’ were organized by the B.Ed. department, N.S.S. and Rovers-Rangers as well. College has encouraged faculty participation in training programmes and Inter Disciplinary workshops, seminars and conferences for professional development of teachers. 19. College has provided financial help of Rs. 13500 to the students coming from financially weaker sections from poor boys fund. 20. 31. A debate Competition on ‘India of Our dreams’ was organized by the political science department on 14th of September 2017. Thirty five students participated in this competition. Rajesh Nath Tiwari of B.Ed. IInd Year Secured 1st place in the Competition. 32. Various competitions the topic like computer quiz, debate on various issues in Hindi, Sanskrit, English language, Udyaman Kavi Ghosthi Pratiyogita, Prashan Manch, Extempore Speech, Essay Writing were held in November 2017 for personality development of the students. 33. Title-Founder’s week Ceremony being organized from 4th to 10th December every year since 1981.

Goal-

The area of low literacy and poverty was gradually empowered by providing higher education at low fee structure by our founder by establishing Maharana Pratap Degree College. Later it was donated to the State Government with the building, land and staff to open a University at Gorakhpur in 1956. He realized to open a new degree college again and this college, started in his name in 1969. Since then Digvijai Nath P.G. College started founder’s week ceremony every year organizing various academic, cultural and sports activities in which the students of the college were participants and practice got much success and it had become most appreciated event in the city through the years. In 1980, suggestions came from various sources to expand it at such a large level that the students from various colleges at every level of education may participate in the events. The planning was made and sent to governing body with the aim to create and evolve talent potentialities of the students of the area. The M.P. Siksha Parishad pleasantly granted to take the prize distribution expenses which at present are more than 4.00 lakh to the students of competency in various fields at various levels. Since 1981 the founder’s week ceremony is celebrated every year till date.

The date, time and place of a particular event is almost fixed every year and, therefore the bonafied students of various institutions submit their name on the prescribed forms to the organizing committee up to 30th November. There is a full-fledged committee which conducts and controls all the activities. The whole ceremony has been organized, regulated and co-related in such a manner that the involved persons perform their piece of work with- in time silently and there is no trouble at present in organizing and implementing the ceremony.

The Practice-

The higher education institutions carry out such activities for the betterment of their own bonafied students where as by this practice, we have succeeded to inspire and promote students from primary level to postgraduate level of all the schools, colleges and the University of this region, thus devoting for the betterment of students of the whole society.

Evidence of Success-

The students competing in this programme are definitely the best of this region at level in which they are studying and their future success and performance becomes better and better which is evident from the results of the past years when compared with the current year 1. Dr. Raj Sharan Shahi of our institution received Yogiraj baba Gambheer Nath Gold Medal for best teacher among the institutions of Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad by Sri Satyapal Singh, Hon’ble State Minster of Human Resource and Development Govt. of India and His Holiness Mahant ji Maharaj, Chief Minster of U.P. on 10th Dec. 2017.

Problems Encountered and Resources Required -

Since 1981 till date we have not identified any problem in conducting the ceremony successfully because of its well co-related, well regulated and continuously monitored and implemented plans. Our teachers, office and management too act properly and timely to implement the already documented plan. College bears the expenses of organizing the activities and in hospitality of the students, teachers coming from other institutions, referees and judges. The total expenses of prize distribution function is granted by our trust M.P. Siksha Parishad. The prize distribution ceremony is a grand ceremony in the campus. We invite Persons of Eminence from various fields as chief guest, so that the students have its memories it throughout their life, for example. 2. Digvijai Nath Yog & meditation centre has been established. Our students and teachers participate in Meditation Center run by our management at Gorakhnath Temple as well as at our college. Shri Awedhesh Shukla, Assistatn Professor, Physical Education Department of our college is trained in Yoga and gives training to desired students and staff members. The meditation centre along with the Gymnasium helps to relieve the tension, anxiety and other related problems of the students/staff so that they feel healthy, fresh and smart. Through these centers we develop constructive power and provide, physical and mental training to the students.

3. ‘Founder’s Week Celebrations’ starts with inaugural function on 4th December by flag-hoisting followed by ‘Shobha Yatra’. Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat, Honorable Chief Minister of Uttarkhand was the chief guest of the programme this year. This year the students, teaching and non-teaching staff of all 44 institutions run by M.P. Shiksha Parishad, Gorakhpur and one dozen affiliated institutions of Gorakhpur District collected in the big playground at west campus of the college. The procession of about 3.0 km. length moved on the main streets of the city. Different slogans written by students relating to culture, education, religion and social were displayed throughout the march in order to make them sensitize towards the issues. Dr. Satyapal Singh, Minister of State, Human Resource and Development Ministry was the Chief Guest, Prof. Vijay Krishan Singh, Vice Chancellor, D.D.U.Gorakhpur University, Gorkahpur was the special guest of the closing ceremony. 4. A series of lectures on various social, cultural & spiritual issues were organized by the college on this occasion. 5. Birth Anniversary of Brahmleen Mahant Digvijai Nath, founder of the college was celebrated on 30 April, 2018. Honorable Chief Minsiter of Uttar Pradesh, His Holiness Mahant Yogi Aditya Nath ji paid tribute and garlanded Mahant Digvijay Nath ji’s Statue. 6. Celebration of Bashant Panchmi – Basant Panchemi was celebrated in B.Ed., Ancient History Department and Girls Hostel ; students organized a prayer programme which was centered on Saraswati the Goddess of Wisdom.
