  • Rock Album Discography Last Up-Date: September 27Th, 2021
Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.

It is my position that small–scale empirical research projects are now required in order for us to unmask the secrets of the illusory triangulated relationship between music, technology, and the individual agent — a relationship that is veiled by ‘naturalization’

  • Marillion.

  • Interview with Marillion STEVE HOGARTH
http://www.dprp.vuurwerk.nl Steve Rothery | Ian Mosley | Pete Trewavas| Band| Competition Interview with Marillion interview by: Bart Jan van der Vorst STEVE HOGARTH In recent years the ticket price for concerts has nearly doubled in Holland, whereas the price has remained the same in countries like Belgium or Germany. During the This Strange Engine tour the tickets cost about £12, whereas for last year's tour that price was £22 - in the same venue!. I know you haven't got a lot of influence on this, but what I'm wondering is, does this hefty increase in price mean you are earning nearly twice as much for a gig, or does this money go elsewhere? Are you sure? To be honest I don't think we could come to Holland for a £12 price. Maybe it's an exchange-rate thing. (Unfortunately it isn't --BJ) All our tour costs are paid by us in pounds sterling. We do earn more money for gigs than we used to. In the past (Brave Tour is a good example) we toured for several months and everyone except the band got paid (manager, agent, crew, trucking, bussing, promoters, dry cleaners, cooks, all received thousands of pounds. Me, Steve, Mark Pete and Ian got nothing.) I used to be poorer at the end of a six-month tour because it had cost me so much to live on the road. I was also mentally and physically exhausted. In the mad old days, we could afford to subsidise touring with our record advances etc..

  • 2015-2016 335 Abstract in 2012, Congress Passed the Jumpstart Our Business Startups
2015-2016 THE EQUITY CROWDFUNDING EXEMPTION 335 MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING: WHY THE EQUITY CROWDFUNDING EXEMPTION WILL ONLY BE USEFUL TO A FEW, AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT GRAHAM ROGERS* Abstract In 2012, Congress passed the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act, which included several reforms aimed at accelerating growth in a flagging US economy, especially among small businesses. Perhaps the most notable and controversial portion of the Act was Title III, which outlined a new registration exemption to be added to US securities laws. Under the new exemption, small businesses would be permitted to sell a limited amount of securities to the public through a registered web portal, without the need for a full public registration of the securities offering. The SEC issued Proposed Rules for the new exemption on October 23, 2013. This new process for issuing securities was designed to be similar to an existing type of online fundraising, known as crowdfunding, in which project creators solicit donations to fund a particular project, cause, or product. In these fundraising campaigns, donors are typically rewarded with product samples or other small rewards, though the donors have no continuing ownership or other legal rights in the project. There was a hope that permitting project creators to issue securities through similar portals would allow the creators to raise more substantial amounts of capital, as well as providing contributors with a legal right to the potential upside of new business ventures. The reaction to the SEC’s Proposed Rules was extremely mixed. Crowdfunding advocates and many in the startup community hailed the rules as an exciting step forward that would provide high- growth enterprises with easier access to capital and allow the public to participate in investment opportunities that had previously been available only to a limited number of investors.

What to expect this time? Looking back at my review of Marbles, it was certainly very favourable, and whilst in hindsight I was perhaps a little over-generous with my rating of a 9.5, I still maintain that it’s a very fine album, and undoubtedly their best since one of their career highlights, Afraid Of Sunlight. So, with the band in a rich vein of form, surely it was a given that the next album would be another excellent effort? Well not necessarily – remember in the three years following Afraid… Marillion produced the rather patchy This Strange Engine and the frankly poor (and definite career lowlight) Radiation.

They've certainly found a different way of doing music for a living... Big George Webley When it comes to a lasting career in the music industry, what are we talking about? A couple of instant hits, followed by obscurity for a couple of decades, until the opportunity to stand in a line-up on Never Mind The Buzzcocks comes along and your final 30 seconds of fame is acted out as the butt end of a Mark Lamarr joke. Or do you desire something more substantial? Like what? The Rolling Stones, a band who have been around since before electricity was invented, and are still packing them to the rafters? Maybe Sting, who just seems able to keep going and going, right up there, without actually eclipsing his days in the Police? Or what about U2? They've gone from a dodgy Dublin pub to a decade dominating the globe, armed only with a root note, a straight beat, an echo pedal and some sunglasses. These artists seemingly do whatever they like, without having to kiss up to A&R departments or having to agree with stupid marketing strategies.

  • MARILLION - STEVE HOGARTH © 2002 PHASE9 ENTERTAINMENT Interview by MARK BAYROSS
http://www.phase9.tv MARILLION - STEVE HOGARTH © 2002 PHASE9 ENTERTAINMENT Interview by MARK BAYROSS It may surprise some of you to hear that Marillion - the band who for most people still evoke memories of Fish in a kilt singing KAYLEIGH on TOP OF THE POPS back in the eighties - are not only still around, but have a legion of die-hard fans around the world. Fans who have proved sufficiently numerous and devoted to personally shell out for the band to tour America, and in a piece of music industry history, to pay in advance for the entire production of their last (12th) studio album. I spoke to Steve Hogarth, the man who has led Marillion since the late eighties, about the release of their latest live album, the Internet, and, of course, their fans. What was behind the decision to release ANORAK IN THE UK LIVE? We’ve made four studio albums since the last live album, so we thought it was about time we released another one. We are a live animal, really - we’re the only band in the history of rock and roll to sell out the Hammersmith Odeon [London] before getting a record deal... There’s such an amazing atmosphere and we thought it was worth capturing that vibe. We also felt that we hadn’t yet made the definitive live album, and now we’ve done it with this one, or at least as close as it is possible to… We were also lucky that the night we played the Manchester Academy was a great gig! Of course this album includes much of your ANORAKNOPHOBIA album, which was financed by your fans… Yes.
