BREEDING & STORE SHEEP Auctioneer: Rachel Capstick Clerk: Annis Schofield No Post-Brexit Blues today! Just a handful of sheep with lambs at foot started the day. Topping at £202 for a 2 crop Texel x Badger Face with a smart tup lamb. We expect more in a fortnight. In lamb sheep next which attracted a packed ring of buyers from far and wide on such a wet, wild and last day of the shooting season windy day!! We really did have something for everyone from Herdwicks and Swales to Mules to pedigree North Country Cheviots to the dispersal sale of pure bred Texels and Blue Texels. Herdwicks topped at £82. As did 3 crop Swaledales carrying triplets due March to the Blue Face Leicester. 80 home bred Mule Shearings from Andrew Rigby due April to the Texel were well bid for, selling to £152 and Keith Geldard’s March lambing shearlings to £142. Robert Parker’s 4 shear Mules all carrying triplets sold for £120. Pedigree North Country cheviots from Nun Cote Nook sold to £320. The dispersal sale sheep due February were too close for an accurate scanning result. The pure Texels run with Hull House, Wigglesworth Hall or Procters rams sold to £162 for shearlings, £188 for 2 shears and £165 for 3-4 shears. But it was the Blue Texel Shearlings which attracted a huge amount of interest selling to £360 (£254). Store hoggs followed. Anything nice was £70+ to a high of £95. But to be fair the majority would be last draw hoggs. Next breeding and store sale is in a fortnight on 15th February. Please remember to ring with your entries for advertising, catalogue and penning. Thank you.
