Third Grade students at Northside experienced “Taste of Thai Day” on Thursday.

They compared and contrasted American culture to Thailand's culture by having Mrs. Reidy's family share about Thai- land. Mrs. Reidy's brother Mark and sister -in -law Pradit Daw- son (who is originally from Thailand) taught students how to write in Thai, made authentic food for them to taste, and had a powerpoint presentation from their past travels. Students learned about Thailand's money, traditions, and food. Prior to “Taste of Thai” day, the students learned about Thailand's geography, history, and culture. We read books about Thailand as read alouds, Elephants in my Backyard, Elephants of the Tsunami, and Thailand. Students also read books on their own about Thailand.

Mark and Pradit brought them back a gift from Thailand and gave them each one Baht (Thai money). It was an exciting and lasting learning experience for the third graders to learn about a new country. Thank you to all the parent volunteers. Taste of Thai Day
