The Doobie Brothers Light Up Solomon's Island

Grammy award winning, and multi-platinum album making 70’s rock , , played live Sunday night at the Calvert Marine Museum, and fans gathered from all over the area to hear their favorite radio hits from the band.

The crowds nearly filled the area in seats placed all the way from the pavilion to the roadway. Massive crowds were standing in designated areas, all there to see the iconic Californian pop/rock band.

Prior to the show there were a number of food and drink kiosks such as Bear Creek BBQ, Papa John’s, and Blue Wind Gourmet’s Crab Cakes; all were very popular sales that night. Well fed and well lubricated, the crowd bounced a number of beach balls around in anticipation for the concert.

People both young and old came to the island to see The Doobies perform, whether they were long time supporters or simply those looking for well-played live music.

Starting at around 8:30 p.m., following the special guest band, Alternate Routes, the band performed many of their hit songs including “Black Water” and “China Groove.

One of the most popular bands of the 70’s, The Doobies started as a post-hippie, mellow rock band and moved into a soul-inflicted pop band by the end of the decade. Over the years they have slightly changed the lineup of members, yet they have still managed to obtain many awards and platinum albums, along with a number of radio hits.

Vocalist and Guitarist, along with drummer formed the band in 1969 and the band has been playing and performing to this day.

The Calvert Marine Museum along with thousands of fans were delighted to have The Doobie Brothers perform in Southern Maryland. “This is my first time actually seeing them live and I love The Doobie Brothers,” said Ryan Pinno, a fan of the group.
