The Oregonian Launches Exclusive Membership Program for Subscribers Oregonian Plus includes special offers and events, the digital edition, and improved online account management

Portland, Ore. – Today Oregonian Media Group announced the launch of Oregonian Plus, a new membership program for home delivery subscribers to . The program provides additional membership benefits with every subscription, at no added charge. Existing subscribers will need to activate a new member account, while new subscribers are automatically enrolled.

“Oregonian Plus is our way of saying thank you to loyal subscribers and future readers,” said N. Christian Anderson III, president of Oregonian Media Group. “Every Oregonian subscription now includes exclusive privileges we think readers will love – ’s a terrific value.”

As members, subscribers will now get access to The Oregonian digital edition. The digital edition is a page-by-page digital replica of the printed . They’ll receive email notifications with a link to read the day’s news on their desktops, smartphones or tablets.

Members will also enjoy benefits through the Oregonian Plus member portal at member.oregonlive.com. The site features contests and sweepstakes, special offers from the paper’s advertisers and affiliates, and tickets for sponsored events. Events will include the program’s original Speaker Series, set to launch next year, where columnists, journalists and guests discuss topics such as cooking, sports, personal finance and more.

In order to deliver those member benefits, the company upgraded its online account management system. Subscribers can still place vacation holds, report delivery problems and make payments at any time, once their new accounts have been activated. But, Anderson said, the new system provides a better overall user experience.

“The new online accounts are a tremendous improvement over our previous system. It’s much easier to subscribe and manage subscriptions, and it integrates with our membership portal seamlessly.” He noted that more than 13,000 readers subscribed or activated accounts in the first week.

Though built for subscribers, Oregonian Plus creates another channel for advertisers to reach readers as well. Advertisers can promote their products and services to an audience that’s actively searching for special offers. There’s no cost to feature offers through Oregonian Plus, except the cost of redemption, and advertisers get exposure on the member portal, in member newsletters, and in the program’s regular print and digital campaigns.
