A few highlights from the meet were diver Hannah Tylee winning the dive meet with a score of 188.35 and the swimmers Janaya Goldbach, Jenny LaPage, and Morgan Sommer taking 1st, 2nd, & 3rd in the 50-freestyle race. This distancing is accomplished through the use of specific narrative conventions and visual codes. In this dissertation, I analyze representations of transgender individuals in popular film comedies, thrillers, and independent dramas. Through a textual analysis of 24 films, I argue that the narrative conventions and visual codes of the films work to prevent identification or connection between the transgender characters and the audience. The purpose of this distancing is to privilege the heteronormative identities of the characters over their transgender identities. This dissertation is grounded in a cultural studies approach to representation as constitutive and constraining and a positional approach to gender that views gender identity as a position taken in a specific social context.

    Prom Dress Code ▪ All dresses worn to the dance must be photographed, while being worn and submitted via email to [email protected] – [email protected] – [email protected] -- [email protected] ▪ Dresses may be strapless (if they fit properly) or include spaghetti straps. ▪ Dresses may be backless, if they are not cut below the naval. ▪ Midriffs will not be exposed. This includes both front and side. ▪ Two-piece dresses must have solid fabric (not mesh) added to cover midriff. ▪ Dresses may not have a slit that exceeds mid-thigh. This is fingertip length. This also includes short dresses. ▪ The top of the dress bodice must be above the bust line. ▪ Undergarments should not be visible. See-through apparel is not permitted. ▪ Garments that are tight or low-cut are also unacceptable. ▪ Fabric inserts must be sewn, not pinned, on the dress if without the inserts the dress does not meet dress code. ▪ Cover-ups are permitted to cover a dress that does not meet expectations, if they are worn the entire night. ▪ Pictures taken at the dance must meet dress code. You may not alter a dress to take a picture. Gentlemen, you are expected to wear formal attire. Formal prom attire may be classified as a tuxedo or dress suit, including a tie or bow tie, a dress shirt, which may include a vest or cummerbund. Shirts are always to be worn. If you are bringing a date from another school, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to have your date follow LCA approval procedures, guest approval form must be submitted with the email.
