It is heartening to learn that Goswami Ganesh Dua S.D. College, Chandigarh is making striking contribuon towards augmenng the academic fabric of India through its progressive outlook and rich roots in Sanatanist, moral and ethical values. The college imparts high quality educaon in Commerce, Science, Humanies, Informaon Technology and Vocaonal streams and encourages research acvies with highest devoon and complete dedicaon. Since its incepon in 1973, S.D. College has traversed a long way and with a disnguished legacy of over four and half decades, it has emerged as renowned and reputed instute with world class educaon where academics is redefined and redesigned every day. In the new paradigm, brought about by the advent of Covid-19, the sacrosanct duty of imparng educaon is faced with various novel challenges, that we, at GGDSD College, are up to meeng in this solemn quest of doing jusce to our young students, whilst ensuring their safety and well-being. Staying abreast of changing dynamics and societal needs, our instute has been able to adapt itself to the changing scenario successfully. These are uncertain mes, but we at GGDSD College, being well euqipped with new technological mediums and digital e-learning plaorms, are certain of the fact that the highest standards of academic excellence shall be maintained. I warmly welcome you to Goswami Ganesh Dua S.D. College, Chandigarh, the most acclaimed and awarded college which has been accredited with 'A+' grade by NAAC and accorded the status of 'A college with Potenal of Excellence' by UGC. The college has added another feather to its cap by being selected under 'Star college Scheme' of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India, New Delhi. We have been sanconed 'Deen Dayal Upadhyay Knowledge Acquision and Up- gradaon of Skiled Human Abilies and Livelihood' (KAUSHAL) Kendra' status by the UGC to run B.Voc., courses. The college has been placed 12th in BCA, 23rd in Commerce, 23rd in Science, 18th in BBA and 41st in Arts in the ‘Best College of India’ in a survey conducted by India Today - MDRA, 2020. These accolades and awards speak volumes of our academic excellence and quality educaon. Incepted in 1973, the college has constantly been evolving according to the needs of globalized world by imparng quality and value based holisc educaon in wide spectrum of vocaonal, professional, commercial and technical streams under the facules of Commerce, Science, Informaonal Technology and Humanies. When academic revoluon was unfolding in the world, we were the first one to feel the tremors and we introduced vocaonal courses. The college has transcended convenonal learning through trans-disciplinary educaon by introducing various innovave and professional courses in emerging and interdisciplinary areas. The college offers three innovave Courses viz. M.Sc. Bioinformacs, M.Sc. Applied Chemistry (Pharmaceucal), and M.Com. in Entrepreneurship and Family Business. Apart from the aforemenoned courses, there are thirteen 'Add On' courses which students can opt to add a winning edge to the profile. For going global in a local world, we have entered into MoU with University of Fraser Valley (UFV), Canada. G.G.D.S.D. COLLEGE SOCIETY To commemorate the revered memory of illustrious Tyagmur Goswami Ganesh Dua Ji, Late Pt. Mohan Lal Ji, Former Home, Educaon and Finance Minister, Punjab along with Prof. Roshan Lal Verma Ji and other prominent educaonists, lawyers and public men set up 'Goswami Ganesh Dua College Society' in 1973 at Chandigarh, which was duly registered under Sociees Registraon Act XXI of 1860. The registered office of the Society is located at Goswami Ganesh Dua S.D. College, Sector 32-C, Chandigarh. The Society constutes a Managing Commiee from amongst its members. Pandit Mohan Lal Global School, Batala Road, Fatehgarh Churian was incepted in 2014. 7. Pt. Mohan Lal S.D. Business School, Chandigarh established in 2020.

KAUSHALIYA DEVI VERMA CHARITABLE INSTITUTE Mrs. Kaushaliya Devi Verma Charitable Instute for Women was set up on the college campus in the year 2000 to honour the fond memory of Late Smt Kaushaliya Devi Verma, wife of Prof Roshan Lal Verma, founder Principal of our college. Mrs. Verma was a noble and philanthropic lady who donated her enre life's savings to the college. The focus of the instute is to impart free vocaonal training to women from economically weaker secons of society. The instute conducts six-months and one year long courses in Cung and Tailoring, Embroidery - including Professional Machine Embroidery, Cosmetology and Beauty Culture and Computer Training. The college offers a six months basic course and a one year diploma in Cosmetology and Beauty culture. Till now, 94 batches with 1104 trainees have successfully completed the course in Cung, Tailoring and Embroidery under the guidance of Ms Bhupinder Kaur. As many as 883 trainees have successfully completed the course in Cosmetology and Beauty Culture under the guidance of Ms Rinku Sinha. Our Adopted Instute - Dr. B. R. AMBEDKAR SCHOOL The GGDSD College Society extends generous support to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Primary School run by the NGO - Cizen Associaon of Relief and Educaon Services (CARES) in Janta Colony, Naya Gaon. Our college students contribuon towards the over-all development of these underprivileged children. In order to impart knowledge and skills, various acvies in art and cra, communicaon skills, moral values and healthy habits are organized frequently. Fesvals like Rakhi, Diwali and special days like Independence Day, Teacher's Day and Republic Day are celebrated with a move to inculcate a sense of naonal spirit amongst the small children.

GGDSD: A SAGA OF EXCELLENCE Excellence is never achieved in a day. Excellence has a preface- a preface, no less than a saga made up of extraordinary events, real life heroes and a foundaon ornamented with valour, iniave, sacrifice and faith. A foundaon, so deep-rooted and concrete, Late Dr. Pt. Mohan Lal Ji Late Prof. R.L. Verma Ji Late Mrs. Kaushaliya Devi Verma Ji which creates edifices eming values, knowledge, thoughts to the society at large and a character to its inhabitants. That excellence is what Goswami Ganesh Dua S.D. College has achieved in its more than forty five years of existence. The college is affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh. Right from its very incepon, the college was fortunate to have been led by eminent personalies. Inspired by the spirit of service and sacrifice, the instuon was established on 3rd July, 1973 in the revered memory of Goswami Ganesh Dua Ji, who envisioned Chandigarh as a focal point of culture and saw it as a potenal hub for Sanatanist acvies. His dream materialized under the dynamic leadership of late Pt. Mohan Lal Ji, former Educaon, Home and Finance Minister, Punjab, and other prominent educaonists, lawyers and public men. With the efforts and collaboraon of such profound workers, a first rate college was established, firmly grounded on the bricks of principles and values in its moo 'Firm in Faith and Broad in Mind'. The teething troubles of the instuon were overcome by the 'karmayogi' Pt. Mohan Lal Ji, who, with his pragmasm, vision, administrave acumen and exceponal enthusiasm led the instuon from the front. Pandit Ji was joined in his unring efforts by the luminary Prof. Roshan Lal Verma Ji, the founder principal of the college, who donated his enre life's savings in seng up this instuon. Right alongside was his wife, Mrs. Kaushaliya Devi Verma Ji, who too, selflessly bequeathed her enre property for the growth of the college. The assets that she donated to the instute were later used to form a trust which helps provide support to the women of the economically weaker secons by offering them excellent career oriented courses and training facilies absolutely free of cost. These efforts by the founding team bore fruit and since then, the college has been imparng holisc educaon to the future torchbearers of the country. The Principals of the college have striven towards connuing with this saga of excellence that passed down as heritage from its founding stalwarts. The college witnessed exceponal growth under the laudable leadership of its Principals - Prof. Roshan Lal Verma, Sh. D.N. Sharma, Sh Umesh Chandra Sharma, Dr. A.C. Vaid, Mrs. Meena Prabhakar and Dr. Bhushan K. Sharma. On July 2, 2019, Dr. Balraj Thapar took charge as the officiang Principal of the college and is connuing the tradion of excellence with his able administrave acumen. Goswami Ganesh Dua S.D. College, Chandigarh, has been fortunate to have been guided by illustrious and able visionaries who have mentored the college admirably and charted a course of acon that is exemplary. Late Pt. Mohan Lal Ji, the former Home, Finance and Educaon Minister of Punjab, who was the founder President of the college management, dedicated his life to the development of the college. Through his managerial prowess and pragmac approach, he steered the college from strength to strength. Aer the sad demise of Dr. Pt. Mohan Lal Ji, his illustrious son, Sh. Upkar Krishan Sharma (formerly Vice President of Eveready Industries India Ltd.) shouldered the responsibilies of the instuon by providing the umbrella of effecve leadership. The present Governing Body is headed by Sh. Upkar Krishan Sharma. The governing policies are constantly reviewed and updated keeping in mind the societal requirements and the organizaonal goals. Under this programme, each student along with his/her convenonal degree would be awarded an addional Cerficate/Diploma/Advanced Diploma in the 'Add On' course opted for. Each student would earn a Cerficate, a Diploma, an Advanced Diploma aer the successful compleon of first year, second year and third year respecvely. Important Note 1. Applicant whose online admission form has been verified and is been alloed college must deposit the fees as per the detailed Online Centralized Admission Schedule. 2. The admissions under SPORTS Category will be done aer the issuance of Gradaon Cerficate (whenever) by the Sports Department, Chandigarh Administraon. The schedule for the same will be uploaded on DHE website www.dhe.chd.gov.in. However, the applicant has to choose the sports reservaon while applying in online admission form. 3. The boys' and girls' hostels are separately located on the college campus. The rooms are spacious and well furnished. Two addional seats for One Girl Child out of the only two girl Children: * a) Two addional seats for one girl child out of the only two girl children per unit per course subject to maximum limit of four are created for those girl Children for admission to a given course in colleges provided they are otherwise eligible from all other aspects. The Addional seats will be only for those girl Children who are either a single girl Child of her parent or one amongst the only two girl Children with no male Child. The addional seat will be available to only one of the two girl children of a couple. b) An affidavit on a stamp paper worth Rs. 20/- duly aested by 1st class Magistrate, to be obtained from the parents of the girl children' declaring therein that the benefit of this scheme is being claimed for only One Girl Child out of the two girl children and the parent shall not claim the same for the 2nd girl child elsewhere in future. 27 Admission Process

2. One addional seat each for the student who suffers from Cancer, AIDS and Thalassemia for admission in each course under each of these categories if otherwise eligible from all angles. The claimant candidate will have to submit a cerficate as a proof from Naonal Medical Instute like PGI and AIIMS, etc. in support of his/her claim. 3. Concession to be given for admission to various courses in the instuon up to academic year 2020- 21 only to those wards of martyrs/permanent disabled (up to 80%-leading to incapacitaon) of KARGIL WAR who have a valid cerficate from the Ministry of Defence to this and the same be entered in the Pension Book of the family:- (I) 1% seats with minimum of 1 seat in the Departments and affiliated Colleges except in parally financed/self-financing courses (ii) Exempon of fee (iii) Exempon in hostel fee 4. (i) Free educaon to the completely blind student belonging to below poverty line, as described by the relevant Government noficaon/s, in any course in the University and its affiliated colleges, subject to the students being otherwise eligible and on merit, but the candidate has to submit an affidavit to this effect issued by the competent authority. Even the free hostel accommodaon may also be considered, if required by the students, but he/she will have to pay the mess charges, which are already subsidized. Providing a limited number of course books (one per paper) may also be considered which would be returnable aer the compleon of the course. 5. Two Addional Seats for Rural Area Students: * Only those candidates will be considered in this category, which have passed their Matriculaon and +2 examinaon from those rural schools that do not fall in the area of Municipal Corporaon/ Municipal Commiee / Small Town/ Nofied Area. Further the candidates should have been studying in such school for at least five years before passing the last examinaon. A candidate claiming such benefit will have to produce a cerficate from the D.E.O./ Principal of the concerned instute of the area cerfying that the school from where the candidate has passed the Matriculaon and +2 examinaon falls within the aforesaid rural area. 6. One Addional Seat for Border Area Students:* The border area students shall mean those candidates who have passed their matriculaon and +2 examinaons from the border area school situated within 20 kilometers from the internaonal border. A candidate claiming such benefit will have to produce a cerficate from the Tehsildar or the Principal/ Headmaster/ Head of the school cerfying that the school from where the candidate has passed the matriculaon or matriculaon examinaon, falls within the aforesaid border area. *Subject to change as per Panjab University guidelines / DHE Regulaons.

28 General Rules & Regulations

COLLEGE CODE OF CONDUCT The students of the college are required to observe the following code of conduct both within and outside the college: · Maintain discipline and decorum. Ragging is strictly banned in the college as well as in the hostels. A student found guilty of this crime may be punished heavily. It may lead to expulsion from the instuon. · Use of mobile phones in the class rooms and library is strictly prohibited. · Sing on the railings in the college campus is not allowed. · Smoking is strictly forbidden both inside and outside the college campus, hostels and canteens etc. · Silence should be maintained in the classroom, the library and the corridors of the college, so that the atmosphere in the college remains perfectly congenial to studies. · Show proper respect to the teachers and carry out their instrucons most faithfully. · Bring the identy card daily and produce it, if any member of the staff or official of the college demands it at any me. Identy card may be checked at the entry gate of the college and those without it will not be allowed to enter. · Abide by all rules, regulaons and instrucons issued by the college from me to me. · Inculcate high moral values of life such as truth, honesty and devoon to duty. · Students must make the best use of me and spend it in creave and construcve acvies for their own beerment and that of the naon, rather than wasng it away by hanging out casually in the college or indulging in fule exercises. · Students should be punctual in aending their classes, funcons and fulfilling the appointments. · Exhibit fine manners and excellent behaviour, use decent language, be courteous and polite in dealing with fellow students and college staff, as this would add to your own credit as also to that of your Alma-Mater. · Observe proper decorum in and outside the classroom and at the funcons organized in the college. Students should respect their parents and elders from the core of their hearts. · The aendance of students will be recorded at seminar(s) and conferences(s) organised for them. This aendance will be given to the students to be counted towards their total aendance for the respecve session. · Students should endeavour to keep the environment neat, clean and beauful at home and at college by using the dustbins and by avoiding liering. · Quarrels and disputes should be avoided. In the event of a dispute, a wrien complaint should be made to the Principal at once. No one is allowed to take the law in his/her own hands. · Students should understand that the college property is a naonal trust and as such its upkeep is as much their responsibility as that of the administraon. Therefore, no one should disfigure furniture or deface walls with pencil, chalk or knife marks. Damage to the college property will not be condoned under any circumstances. · Students are required not to remove chairs/furniture from any room. · Students must keep their vehicles at the parking place. Plying of vehicles at the college campus is not allowed.

29 General Rules & Regulations

· Ulize free period in reading books, magazines and newspapers available in the library. · Students must make it a point to see the Noce Board and read the latest noces. Ignorance of orders duly displayed on the Noce Board shall not be accepted as an excuse for non-compliance. · A student will be punished, ruscated or expelled from the college, if he/she directly or indirectly takes part or induces others to do so in any movement, agitaon or strike in the college for any reason, whatsoever, which, in the opinion of the Principal is subversive of the college discipline. COLLEGE LEAVE RULES · Leave can be applied online using student's ID by filling e-leave form in advance. In case of medical leave, a medical cerficate must be uploaded/submied along with the leave applicaon. Leave will be granted by the Registrar. Students will get approval/rejecon of leave as per college rules. Long leaves on account of medical reasons/marriage/ Ex-India leave supported by relevant documents will be granted only by the Registrar personally. · For a leave of more than six days, the student or his relave should meet the Registrar personally with the hard copy of applicaon & relevant documents before availing the leave. · On the days when special funcons are held, leave will be granted by the Principal. Leave sanconed will not relax 75% aendance condion. In order to be eligible for P.U. semester examinaon, the students have to fulfil the aendance condion under any circumstances. • All leaves including duty leave on account of sports/cultural/academic reasons should be got sanconed in advance. • If a student remains absent without leave connuously for six days, his/her name will be struck off the college rolls. There will be only two chances of re-admission. • First me student can get re-admission himself/ herself. • Second me the student will have to come with parents for re-admission. • No leave will be accepted in back-date. IDENTITY CUM LIBRARY SMART CARD • Each student is issued an Identy cum Library Smart Card bearing his or her photograph, name and roll number. All students are required to carry their Identy Cards with them while on the campus. The defaulters will be fined heavily. If the Identy Card is lost, a duplicate card can be issued on payment of Rs. 100/-. • The Identy Card has to be deposited back at the end of the session. Defaulters will not be issued their No Dues Cerficate / Detailed Marks Card / Character Cerficate / Degree, etc. in case they fail to do so. GIRL STUDENTS Special aenon is paid to the general welfare and security of girls. Separate facilies like a Common Room for girls and separate tables in the college library have been provided, so as to help them feel comfortable. Arrangements also exist for providing adequate facilies for girls who want to take part in any kind of sports and extra-curricular acvies. Other than these, the girl students can also avail themselves of the special facilies provided by the Counselling Cell in case of emergency.

30 Anti Ragging Rules

(RAGGING IS TOTALLY BANNED) 'RAGGING' means the following: Any conduct whether by words spoken or wrien or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treang or handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined acvies which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generang a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student. Debarring from appearing in any test/examinaon or other evaluaon process. 4. Withholding results. 5. Debarring from represenng the instuon in any regional, naonal or internaonal meet, tournament, youth fesval, etc. 6. Suspension/expulsion from the hostel. 7. Cancellaon of admission. 8. Ruscaon from the instuon for period ranging from 1 to 4 semesters. 9. Expulsion from the instuon and consequent debarring from admission to any other instuon for a specified period. 10. Fine ranging between Rs. 25,000/- to Rs. 1 lakh. 11. Collecve punishment: When the persons comming or abeng the crime of ragging are not idenfied, the instuon shall resort to collecve unishment. *Students have to upload An Ragging affidavit of Self & Parents.

In compliance with the Act of Parliament and Policy of Panjab University, Chandigarh, GGDSD College, Sector 32-C, Chandigarh has constuted the College Commiee Against Sexual Harassment (CCASH), which has the following members:- 1. Mr. Rohit Dheer, Member Definion of Sexual Harassment: Sexual harassment includes any one or more of the following unwelcome acts or behaviour (whether directly or by implicaon) namely:- I) Physical contact and advances or ii) A demand or request for sexual favours or iii) Making a sexual coloured remarks or iv) Showing pornography or v) Any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature Funcons of the Commiee : a) Commiee shall assist in resolving the cases on the campus through mediaon of crises arising out of such incidents. b) Commiee shall coordinate with the security staff to devise ways and means by which a system of crises management that is gender sensive is put in place. c) Commiee shall organize training workshops for students, academic staff, non-teaching staff, employees and service providers to sensize them against sexual harassment of women at workplace. The complaint may be reported within 3 months from the date of incident and in case of a series of incidents, within a period of three months from date of last incident. A facility services agreement has been signed with G4S facility Services (India) Pvt. Ltd. for housekeeping and cleanliness of the infrastructure of the college campus. AUTOMATION THROUGH TCS iON The college has signed an MoU with Tata Consultancy Services, which enables complete automaon of all administrave as well as academic transacons. There are two product soluons encapsulated within this contract:- Digital Campus : The Campus Management System (CMS) The Campus Management System (CMS) empowers the college to carry out all the teaching and administrave acvies in an easy and transparent manner. This portal organizes students' informaon from admission to declaraon of examinaon results. The college has developed an online system with the help of TCS iON through which a candidate is required to fill online e-form, the link for which is available on the college website www.ggdsd.ac.in. It includes seat allocaon, batch allocaon and student enrolment, hostel occupancy, aendance, mid-semester tests and final exam marks. Students can view their personal profiles, me-tables, faculty allotments, due fees, aendance and result through their own Login IDs. They can also pay fee through fee bizapp and apply leave online through self service/mtop (mobile app). Faculty management (HRMS) is also part of this system enabling faculty to mark aendance, apply leave, enter marks, etc. within the system itself. There are two other modules called FnA( Finance and Accounng) and PnI (Procurement and Inventory) which helps to reduce load on administrave staff and helps to gain transparency in the system. Digital Learning : Online Teaching through Learning Exchange (LX) System Digital learning with the LX Module of TCS iON provides a plaorm to the faculty to enroll students into various batches and courses. The faculty can plan their teaching methodologies and can upload/share slide presentaons, audio/video lectures, web links of study material, explanatory text files and assignments to facilitate online learning for the students. The college faculty performs high quality research across a wide range of disciplines with a strong commitment to excellence and concern for the needs of both local and global problems. Grants from UGC and DBT, GOI The college regularly receives grants from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and different departments of the Government of India in appreciaon of its high academic standards. The college has been granted sancon from UGC, New Delhi for connuaon of the status 'A College with - Potenal for Excellence' for the five years i.e. from 1st April 2014 to 31st March 2019. As per this scheme, UGC has approved a grant of 1.40 crore to be ulized for up-gradaon of teaching facilies at UG and PG levels, research facilies, extension acvies and establishment of internet lease line in the campus. The expert commiee recommended that for the next phase of CPE four departments : (i) Bio-sciences (ii)Physics (iii)Commerce and Management and (iv)Economics should be considered as highly rated departments. We received a grant of 1 crore 85 lakh to run two vocaonal courses (B.Voc.) namely: Retail Management and Food Processing and Preservaon from UGC. House Tests for Semester Examinaon The college conducts two Mid-Semester Tests (MSTs) during the academic session. It is mandatory for each student to appear in both the MSTs with a valid college identy card. Each exam of the MST will be of three-hour duraon. The dates for the MSTs will be announced as per the direcons from the competent authority. House Tests Rules · A student who fails to appear in MST, whatever be the reason, will not only be marked “absent” but also will be given the score of zero. · A student who does not appear in MST without prior permission will be charged an addional amount of Rs 500. · Students must maintain complete discipline and adhere to the exam mings strictly. · A student who fails to fulfil the eligibility criteria laid down by the University for appearing in the final exams will have to reappear in the special tests conducted separately for both MSTs, only with the permission of the Principal. · A student found guilty of using unfair means in the examinaons is penalized according to the gravity of the offence and could also be liable for paying fine, detenon or expulsion. It also renders the student ineligible for any award, prize, spend or scholarship for the enre academic session. Panjab University Semester Examinaons The term end semester examinaons will be held as per the dates to be announced by the Panjab University. Eligibility Condions for Appearing in University Examinaons Students are required to fill up university examinaon form on dates specified by the Panjab University for the term end semester examinaons which will be forwarded provisionally to the University. The filling up of examinaon forms is subject to the following condions: · The student has displayed good conduct as a bonafide student of the college. · The student has aended at least 75% of the total lectures delivered in each subject, both in theory and praccal classes. · The student has secured at least 25% marks as aggregate in all subjects in each MST. Special Test/Discreonary Test · A student who fails to obtain 25% marks aggregate in MSTs, for whatever reasons, may be allowed to appear in a special test at the discreon of the Principal. · A student needs to score at least 30% marks in aggregate in special test, failing which he/she will not be allowed to take university examinaon. · In case the above condions are not fulfilled, the student's provisional admission form will be withdrawn from the Panjab University even a day before the scheduled examinaon. In such a case, the student will not be allowed to appear even as a private candidate. · An examinaon fee will be charged from the student to appear in the Special Tests. Condoning of shortage of lectures If a student fails to meet the required percentage of aendance on account of parcipaon in certain sports, or NSS/NCC camps or extracurricular acvies, or educaonal excursions, he/she may seek credit from the Principal for the numbers of days for which prior exempon has to be obtained. This condoning would be over and above the limits provided in the exisng rules and regulaons.

EXTENSION ACTIVITIES Following the moo of 'Duty and Sacrifice', every associate of the college imbibes the Sanatanist values and spirit to the core and is encouraged to get involved in different spiritual and value based extension acvies that are an integral component of all endeavours of the instuon. The crucial needs and legimate expectaons of the community are given utmost importance and these factors are the guiding principles for organizing various extension acvies like community development, health and hygiene awareness programmes, adult educaon and literacy programmes, AIDS awareness programmes, social work, medical camps, environment awareness and blood donaon camps. These acvies are organised vigorously by various clubs and associaons of the college, including Spirit India, NSS, NCC, Manav Dharam Kendra and M.K.D.V. Instute for Women, in collaboraon with GOs and NGOs and help smulate student parcipaon in community based service. Another feature added to these iniaves is that students are encouraged to associate themselves with these acvies and get involved in community service during the session. NSS The college runs two NSS units for men and women consisng of 100 volunteers each. The primary aim of the NSS is to inculcate social responsibility in the students through community service and to smulate the parcipaon of volunteers in construcve and extension work in slums and backward villages. They are encouraged to understand the problems faced by the inhabitants on the first hand so that when they become community leaders, they may provide soluons to the ills faced by the poor. Students of all classes are eligible for enrolment in NSS. In order to successfully complete the NSS programme, each volunteer is required to put in 120 hours of work during one session. Throughout the year volunteers parcipate in various acvies like Fit India Movement, Internaonal Yoga Day,Unity Day, SwachhtaPakhwadas, Internaonal Youth Day, Unnat Bharat A b h i y a n , C u l t u r a l E x c h a n g e Programmeunder Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat, Covid 19 pandemic warriors, etc. The volunteer also has to aend a Special Annual Camp. Enthusiasc volunteers are even selected for training in the special camps organised by the Directorate of NSS. By parcipang in such programmes, the students can reap different kinds of benefits too as not only do they become socially responsible cizens, but are also awarded cerficates which carry an addional weightage at the me of placements and admission to higher classes.

NCC The NCC of the college comprises 2 NCC platoons comprising 70 cadets each. During each session a NCC cadet has to aend 32 parades and 96 periods for the award of cerficate. The NCC cerficates carries weightage at the mes of admission to higher classes and also gives the chance to join the Armed Forces directly for interview without appearing for any exam. If any student wishes to join the NCC, he can join on the me of commencement of the academic session. The student should have to be good in physical standards and should be good in general knowledge. To get the cerficate, it becomes compulsory for a cadet to aend two camps during the three years of stay in college and parcipate in certain services aachment, as decided by the authories. As a part of this organizaon, cadets are groomed for joining the armed forces as the commissioned officers. COUNSELLING CELL The college runs a very acve Counselling Cell that forever strives to cater to the various emoonal needs of the students. Special counseling sessions are held with the students residing in hostels, to facilitate their adjustment and to cater to their special emoonal needs. First-aid is available for the students in the medical room of the college. To meet any emergency, ambulance services are also available round the clock for the students from college/hostels to the hospitals for mely treatment. If any student falls sick or suffers from any medical emergency during the college hours, every type of medical assistance is provided to him/her and all the expenses of the treatment are borne by the college. There is also a provision that the college would meet all the medical expenses of any hosteller, if he/she happens to be hospitalized due to any unfortunate circumstance arising out of his/her stay in the college hostel. Other than these, there are periodical medical check-up camps that are conducted round the year, absolutely free of cost. There is a medical assistant available 24×7in the hostel. ACCIDENTAL COVERAGE All the students of the college have been covered under the accidental insurance scheme to the tune of Rs. 1,00,000/-. The policy covers the following events: 1. Death 2. Loss of two limbs/two eyes/one limb, one eye 3. Loss of one limb/one eye 4. Permanent total disability from injuries 5. Permanent paral disability In addion to the above, the policy will provide reimbursement of medical expenses, subject to a limit of Rs.500, incurred by any student for his/her treatment in a hospital/nursing home as in-paent, for any injury sustained in an accident during the session. These efforts not only help and reward the deserving students, but also inculcate in them a drive to perform beer. The meritorious and financially weak students are helped through these scholarships and concessions. The book bank iniave, started by the college, aims at providing help to the deserving candidates. Scholarships are given to the top 3 posion holders in End-Semester Examinaons conducted by Panjab University. An applicaon to the Principal duly verified by the Head of the Department at the me of admission is necessary for availing the scholarship. The instuon with the assistance of Chandigarh Administraon too provides fee concession to the students in case two children (brothers/sisters) of same parents are enrolled simultaneously in the college. Such siblings too should submit their applicaon to the Principal at the me of admission. The instuon with the assistance of Chandigarh Administraon also provides fee concession to those students whose parents' annual income falls between Rs. 1,00,000 - to Rs. 2,00,000. For this concession, the student must submit an affidavit or salary cerficate from the employer of his/her parents. In addion to this, economically weaker students can avail themselves of the concession by applying to the Principal through a wrien request for the waiver and/or the books at the me of admission. A very dynamic and vibrant placement cell has been established on the campus, in order to facilitate the placement of the college students (from the general/vocaonal/professional streams) as well as for the students of other colleges in the region. As per NAAC instrucons, the college has established 'Internal Quality Assurance Cell' that works towards realizing the goals of quality enhancement and sustenance. It is a facilitave and parcipave organ of the instuon. Fourteen Years of Our Associaon with University of Fraser Valley, Canada On November 10, 2006, University of Fraser Valley (UFV), a top ranked Canadian university, completed fourteen years of signing an MoU with SD College to run their BBA programme on the college campus. The world-class Microso IT Academy curriculum will help the students to obtain hands-on skills and experiences that they need to succeed in careers related to technology. MoU with NSE A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on September 27, 2011 between the Naonal Stock Exchange (NSE) and the college for starng a new NSE Cerfied Capital Market Professional course.
