İng.: Piccolo, Alm.:Kleine Flöte, It.: Flauto Piccolo (ottavino: bir oktav üstten). Orkestrada bir tane bulunur. Piccolo flütlerde kuyruk kısmı yoktur ve 30 cm uzunluğundadır Piccolo partisi genellikle flüt grubunun üst registerini genişletmek için kullanılır. Orkestra içinde ‘’tutti’’lerde bile sivrilebilir; orkestra tınısına parlaklık getirir. Çoğu zaman (sololar hariç) flütlerde birlikte kullanılır. Orkestrada daimi bir enstürmandır. Piccolo flüt, büyük flütün hemen hemen yarısı kadar uzunluktadır. Büyük flütteki kuyruk bölümü piccolo flütte yoktur. Bu nedenle de büyük flütün en kalın sesleri olan Do ve Do diyez sesleri küçük flütte bulunmaz.

The breathtaking power and beauty of Peter’s music is enhanced by the juxtaposition of these contrasting wooden instruments and traditions - the ones delicately carved by master craftsmen in Europe and the other naturally hollowed out by termites in Australia. Stephen’s artistry envelops us in sonorities that border between the earth and the divine. These sonic waves lift the entire quartet, even changing the role of the cello from harmonic ground to the floor of an airship. We take flight together. We have journeyed to places dark and wondrous during the process of learning these masterworks and hope you will join us there now.

But there are reasons far more compelling than mere longevity to regard Elliott Carter as the most eminent of living American composers, and as one of the foremost composers in the world at large. His name has come to be synonymous with music that is at once structurally formidable, expressively extraordinary, and virtuosically dazzling: music that asks much of listener and performer INTRODUCTION alike but gives far more in return. Carter was born in New York and, except during the later years of his education, has always lived there. After college and some postgraduate study at Harvard, like many an aspiring American composer of his generation who did not find the training he sought at home, Carter went off to Paris to study with Nadia Boulanger, an experience which, while enabling a necessary development of technique, also lent his work a conservative, neoclassical style for a time.

  • Europadisc February 2008 List
FEBRUARY 2008 LIST See inside for valid dates Dear Customer You will no doubt have read the speculation surrounding the EMI situation and the financial difficulties they face in today’s rapidly changing market. This is by no means unique to them. In this digital age, one wonders just how the record companies will meet the challenges brought about by ‘downloading’ and consequently the reduction in the numbers of music CDs being bought worldwide. In the classical music market, there remains amongst most buyers a requirement for not only the music - in high quality sound to be played in the comfort of the listening environment - but also the material that goes with it. This would suggest that the current CD complete with libretti/booklet format will be with us for some time yet. However, monetary pressures do mean that the funds available for new classical recordings, particularly large scale works, are declining, leading to a constant search for the ‘re-cycling’ of material previously recorded and issued. So here’s the good news. Whilst this development has its detractors, it does mean that we can enjoy, often at a bargain price, the work of truly great artists in a new light and with the benefit of enhanced sound quality and illuminating background material. The recent re-issues featuring Karajan, Pavarotti, Callas, and offerings on the Lyrita and Naxos Historical labels amply illustrate the point. So, enjoy the fruits of the ‘financial squeeze’ whilst you can - there may never be a better time! Mark, Richard & Mike NAXOS OFFER £4.00 per disc - see inside! Tickets and registration or https://bit.ly/3gbmmLG Del Sol Quartet has hit the streets with brand-new music composed to spread joy here and now. This is music for sharing — in person and outdoors — short and sweet and unexpected. Music that lets a worker on her lunch break go bananas to a Turkish folk-dance. Music so your neighbors perk up their ears and say hello on their city block. Music so a child can hear the flute-playing tree-spirit who just might live in that pine. Del Sol is performing these specially composed pieces in free concerts at public settings around the Bay Area — parks, schoolyards, open-spaces — where people can enjoy the music while safely practicing social distancing in the open air. “We’re all rediscovering that music can, and should, happen anywhere,” says Del Sol cellist Kathryn Bates. “It’s incredibly satisfying to find this way of connecting with our local communities. Now this online concert allows us to spread our reach and invite everyone, near and far, to a big Zoom party with our favorite composers. Everyone has their own unique experience of joy, from Mark Orton’s playful groove to Jungyoon Wie’s calm meditation or Lukas Ligeti’s polyrhythmic ecstasy.” An all-star team of local and internationally renowned composers quickly stepped up to write music for the Joy Project’s ever-growing setlist.
