It is the bifurcation point, the point of division, separating ‘before’ and ‘after’. For Estonian society these events are even more important than joining NATO or European Union. Before April 2007 we lived in one country and now we are getting used to living in another one. Or were these merely illusions and as Eugeny Golikov wrote «the world has not changed, it has just partially revealed its face» («Tallinn», no. 2‑3, 2007)? Before April 26, 2007 we, the population of Estonia, believed that we lived in a democratic country, with proper separation of powers, with efficiently balanced executive and legislative powers, with independent courts, a free press, social control over government, in particular over the security agencies, and so on. After April 26 it turned out that not all this was true, or was not exactly true, or was even false. It turned out that some mechanisms, considered deeply rooted in the democratic society, had no effect and some procedures were easily abandoned. Just one example: by order of the Police Prefect, all public rallies and meetings in Tallinn were prohibited from April 30 till May 11, 2007 and it did not result in any protests or even questions, although this was a restriction of the constitutional right to express opinions, the right of peaceful assembly, rally and demonstration. -

www.bookvica.com SUMMER CATALOGUE 2018 1 F O R E W O R D Dear friends and collegues, Bookvica team is excited to present to you the summer catalogue of 2018! The catalogue include some of our usual sections along with new experimental ones. Interesting that many books from our selection explore experiments in different fields like art and science themselves. For example our usual sections of art exhibition catalogues and science include such names as Goncharova and Mendeleev - both were great exepimenters. Theatre section keeps exploring experiments on and off stage of the 1920s under striking constrictivist wrappers. We continue to explore early Soviet period with an important section on art for the masses where we gathered editions which shed light on how Soviets used all available matters to create a new citizen on shatters of the past and how to make him a loyal tool of propaganda. Photography and art of that period is gathered in a separate section with such names like Zdanevich and Telingater among the artists. Books on architecture include Chernikhov fantasies, Stepanova’s design of metro book, study of Soviet workers’ clubs and the most spectacular item is account of the work made by architecture studios in early 1930s led by most famous Russian architects. Probably the jewel of our selection is a rare collection of sheet music from 1920s-30s or more precisely cover designs. We have been gathering them for a year and are happy to finally share our discoveries on this subject with you. Don’t miss too small but very interesting sections of Ukrainian books and items on Women. -

FILMS is a production company based in Barcelona, created in 2013 by Carlota Coloma and Adrià Lahuerta. They produce documentaries for cinema and other platforms, and for agencies and clients who want to explore the documentary genre in all its possibilities. Their productions have been selected and awarded in many festivals: MiradasDoc, Milano International Documentary Festival, HotDocs and DOCSMX among others. They have been selected to participate in several workshops and pitches such as: IDW Visions du Réel; Cross Video Days; Docs Barcelona. ABRA ENSEMBLE Hall I + Abra Ensemble (Performance Space Exhibition) ABRA Ensemble's works aspire to undermine existing power structures as they express themselves in the voice, language patterns and ways of speech. They seek rather communal, feminist strategies of composition, listening and creative-coexistence. Exposing the emergence of the music itself, ABRA Ensemble bridges the existing limits between contemporary virtuoso vocal art and the performative, transformative encounter with an audience. In the five years since its founding in 2013, the ensemble has performed at a diverse range of venues in Israel and Europe, released a debut album and gained considerable recognition both in the new-music and contemporary performance scene. YARON ABULAFIA Jury Member 2019 / PQ Ambassador Yaron Abulafia has designed over 200 theatre and dance performances, installations, concerts and television shows internationally. He has designed for the Netherlands Dans Theater, the English National Ballet, Rambert Dance Company, Staatsballett Berlin, Danza Contemporanea de Cuba and the Hungarian State Theatre of Cluj in Romania – to mention but a few. -

Kohaliku omavalitsuse huvialakooli/muusikakooli üleriigiline pop-jazzmuusika näidisõppekava 2005 1 Sissejuhatus pop-jazzmuusika õppekava juurde Pop-jazzmuusika mõistest Kuni 2003. aastani koondati kõik muusikastiilid väljaspool akadeemilist klassikalist muusikat ühise nimetaja „levimuusika“ alla, mille pakkus välja helilooja ja muusikaajaloolane Valter Ojakäär käibel olnud termini „kerge“ muusika asemel, millele klassikalise muusika puhul vastandati mõiste „tõsine“ muusika. Levimuusikaks loeti nii pop-, rock-, jazz-, folk- kui ka kantri- jt. muusikastiilid. Valter Ojakääru terminid „levi-“ ja „süvamuusika” olid Eestis käibel kuni 2003. aastani, mil seoses jazzialase hariduse küsimuste aktuaalseks muutumisega tuli arutlusele ka „levimuusika“ mõiste. Pop-jazzmuusika õppe- ja ainekavade väljatöötamise koosolekul Saue Muusikakoolis 22. novembril 2003. aastal tõstis töögrupp üles loodava õppekava nimega seonduvad küsimused. Ühine seisukoht oli, et õppesuunale tuleb anda rahvusvaheliselt üheselt mõistetav nimetus. Koosoleku protokollist võib lugeda, et kaaluti mitme variandi vahel: “džäss” (eestikeelne kirjapilt), “jats” (kõnekeelest tulnud ning Eesti Keelekomisjoni poolt põhimõttelise toetuse saanud mugandus), “rütmimuusika” (käibel näit. Taanis), “pop-jazz” (enim kasutuselolev termin maailmas). Küsimus jäi siis veel lahtiseks. Otsus langetati pärast küsitlust eesti jazzmuusikute hulgas ning konsulteerimist Eesti Keelekomisjoniga. 2004. aasta alguses nimetati Viljandi Kultuuriakadeemia ja Tallinna G. Otsa nim. Software options I used an old version of QuarkXPress Passport (version 7.3 from my publishing days) to do all the page layout work (with its brilliant page element library) but other alternatives are Adobe InDesign, CorelDRAW and perhaps MS Publisher. You might also want to take a look at AlbumGen (stamp album design software) which can combine with images and data from EzStamp – follow this link https://ezstamp.com/software/stamp-album-software/ Get your pages printed professionally – not on a home printer. In terms of printing your own stamp album pages, most decent digital print shops should be able to print on larger paper size for you (e.g. A3 paper - ideally at 1200 dpi); then also guillotine to whatever final page size is wanted; and then punch/drill holes to suit your binder choice. Paper specification In terms of paper, I highly recommend Mondi Colorcopy 160g/m2 (59 lbs bond) paper – a paper that works really well with digital printing. You could use thicker paper if you wanted. Colorcopy paper is widely available in various paper sizes including A3. -

Gribble, Co-Adviser Predrag Matejic Copyright by Larysa Stepanova 2010 Abstract The goal of the proposed dissertation is twofold—first, to investigate the patterns of language usage in a previously unstudied discourse genre, the websites of Ukrainian businesses; and second, to determine the extent to which the new language policies of the post-Soviet Ukrainian state are reflected in this new genre, which is not explicitly covered by those policies. More specifically, the study will offer a detailed linguistic analysis of the genre in order to determine whether, and to what degree, linguistic identity, as shown by the choice of language(s) on the sites, correlates with other markers of Ukrainian national identity—i.e., the values that the official policies are trying to defend. ii Dedication This document is dedicated to my family. iii Acknowledgments Here I want to thank people who have contributed much to this research and who have been with me during this difficult period of my life.
