Homecoming for Program

The purpose of this program is to recognize, thank and welcome home those that serve the United States military protecting its’ citizens, ensuring their safety, and securing liberty.

Guidelines:

Applicant must be a resident of Steuben County.

Serviceman or woman to be honored must have graduated from a Steuben County School District and/or should have family residing in Steuben County.

Service member to be honored must be currently active in the military or have been in the last 12 months.

Proof of current service must be provided as well as date of becoming inactive, if applicable. (i.e.: dated public document, deployment letter, etc.)

Military personnel who have been dishonorably discharged are not eligible.

Applications can be obtained online at angolain.org, or the Office of Economic Development and Planning , City Hall, 2nd floor - 210 N. Public Square, Angola, IN 46703, and will be accepted year-round.

The application is a public document. We ask that applicants only share information that can be shared publicly. Information will be released to the media prior to the date and time of proclamation.

If the applicant would like to surprise the serviceman or woman, it should be indicated on the application.

Completed applications are to be returned to City Hall, 2nd floor - 210 N. Public Square, Angola, IN 46703, through email at [email protected], by mail, or in person.

After approval of the application, a Proclamation shall be created by the Mayor’s Office.

Recognition of the military serviceman or woman will be done by the Mayor and Common Council members during a City of Angola Common Council Meeting in the Common Council Chambers on the 2nd floor in City Hall – 210 N. Public Square, Angola, IN 46703. The City’s Common Council regularly meets every 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at 7:00p.m.

Applicants will be notified of the date and time of the Proclamation.

HOMECOMING FOR HEROES The City of Angola recognizes members of our community deployed to serve our country’s armed forces that ensure our country’s safety, freedom, and liberty. The Homecoming for Heroes program has been developed to welcome home, recognize, and thank those individuals for their service.
