Who is RISE? RISE is an award-winning, Brighton-based registered charity that helps people affected by domestic abuse. We offer practical help ranging from direct advice to refuge accommodation for those whose lives are at risk. Every year we help over 2,000 people. What is the HEROES RUN? Taking place on Sunday 19th May at Hove Lawns, the HEROES RUN is Brighton & Hove’s biggest and best super-hero fancy dress themed fun run. There are race distances to suit the whole family (5K,10K, mini mile and 500 metre dash) with no minimum age restrictions, but under 8s must be accompanied by an adult. The money raised will help fund a child therapist, to help support children who have been affected by domestic abuse. Seeing, hearing and experiencing abuse can have a profound effect on children. 90% of them will be in the same or next room when abuse occurs. They might be anxious and scared, angry or depressed, wet the bed or struggle to make friends. Children often don’t have the language to express or the tools to understand what’s happening to them, which is why they need specialist help. Last year we had over 400 runners, and the event is always well attended by the local press (and the odd local celebrity…) Our partners This initiative was created in partnership with Search Seven, who we would like to thank wholeheartedly for their creativity and unwavering support! Thank you to Creative Blend for offering their design work free of charge, and Face Media for heavily discount printing, to allow more of your sponsorship money to go directly to our work. .
