Welcome Packet The following will outline the application, orientation and academic requirements for the Educating Heroes program. All required documentation must be submitted no later than 2 weeks prior to DOCJT law enforcement basic training arrival.

Applicant Packet Forms Educating Heroes Admission Application completed form. All OFFICIAL academic transcripts: college, university, technical school and/or high school. These transcripts need to be directly emailed to [email protected] or mailed to 4497 Kit Carson Drive Richmond, KY 40475. Contractual agreement between participant and hiring agency prior to basic training mailed to DOCJT.

Course Schedule Outline and Orientation  Online courses will begin at week 3 of basic training and continue to the end of week 18.  Sociology and English will be taken the first 8 weeks; Biology and History will be taken the last 8 weeks; Statistics will be taken the entire 16 weeks.  Bluegrass Community Technical College (BCTC) orientation will be on the first Wednesday of basic training. This will consist of:

1. BCTC application 2. Informational release form 3. Graduation application 4. Activate student self-service account 5. Course enrollment 6. Course schedule

During DOCJT Educating Heroes orientation, recruits will complete an academic readiness exam. This program allows us to gauge what tutoring styles will be necessary to be supportive for your success. The Math and Verbal Prep are required to be completed before the online courses begin. Tutoring sessions will be scheduled throughout the week for all students to attend and will be consistently offered online via blackboard. All course work will be due every Sunday at 11:59pm. There will be timed exams given throughout the semester. The recruit will have the allotted time frame of completion once the test has been opened.
