HIKES AND BIKERS SHARE PATHS

Hikers and mountain bikers unrestrictedly use the same trails in Davos Klosters. This applies to the entire canton of and is unique in the Alps. This requires a tolerant and respectful approach by all parties.

Mountain bikers need to slow down to walking pace when overtaking and stop at cross- ings on narrow paths to make room for hikers. In turn, pedestrians accept mountain bike riders as equal trail users and allow them to pass, wherever possible and sensible, when the two meet on a path. davos.ch/happy-riding

TRAIL CREW

WHETHER YOU’RE A MOUNTAIN BIKER, HIKER OR TRAIL RUNNER – A WELL MAINTAINED TRAIL PROVIDES ENJOYMENT FOR EVERY USER!

Davos Klosters is seen as pioneering in the bike scene and has employed a Trail Crew for many years. The Trail Crew shapers are out and about on our trails every day. Apart from maintaining the trails to prevent erosion and damage to the landscape, they also build stream crossings, shovel away landslides, maintain the environment, construct passes through fences and more.

Apart from its manual work, the Trail Crew also discusses, considers and tests things out with landowners, farmers, cable car workers, bikers and hikers. Only by doing so can the crew understand what matters to people and what can still be improved.

The new bike park has facilities for bikers of all ages. While more advanced riders might dare to take on the jumps, beginners can practise their skills in the skills park or on the pump track. The park is designed so that bikers can improve their skills over time and move on to the next obstacle in terms of difficulty. The skills course is perfect for assessing and improving your technical ability.

Bikers can learn the sport’s basic moves on the pump track and acquire good coordination and fit- ness training. The composite surface of the modular pump track even lets them practise their skills in bad weather.

The humus table line for beginners provides the best preparation for the larger jumps on the dirt jump line. The dirt jump line provides the best training opportunities for more advanced riders, offering plenty of space for creativity. From sum- mer 2018, the Davos Bike Park will also be offering a “Rezi landing”. This landing, which is unique in Switzerland lets bikers practise their jumps and FREESTYLERS’ expand their skills.
