Rachel Parsons/Michael Parsons (USA) dance off with gold USA’s Rachel Parsons/Michael Parsons danced off with the gold medal, edging out Alla Loboda/Pavel Drozd of Russia by 0.55 points. Christina Carreira/Anthony Ponomarenko (USA) rose from sixth to claim the bronze medal in their debut at the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships. Parsons/Parsons dance to a new arrangement of “Singing In the Rain” included five level-four elements, while the diagonal step sequence was rated a level three. The only glitch in the otherwise smooth performance was a somewhat wobbly rotational lift. Nevertheless, the 2016 World Junior silver medalists posted a new personal best of 97.54 points and totaled 164.82 points to overtake the leading Loboda/Drozd. “It feels incredible for us. Michael and I had a really good season so far and this is just the perfect way to cap off our junior career. We couldn’t be more happy”, Rachel Parsons said. “I think everybody has really improved since last year. Everybody has been working really hard and it was a much closer competition since last year.

  • Brown's Finesse Trumps Yan's Big Jumps at Junior Grand Prix Final
6/29/2018 icenetwork.com: News: News NEWS Brown's finesse trumps Yan's big jumps Russians sweep ice dancing podium By Lynn Rutherford, special to icenetwork.com (12/10/2011) Jason Brown may not have a triple Axel yet but he knows how to put on a show. The 17yearold from the Chicago area hit every nuance and step in his free skate to James Newton Howard's "Flow Like Water," producing a clean and polished routine that floated over the ice and edged China's Han Yan for gold at the 2011 Junior Grand Prix Final. "It's amazing," said the ponytailed skater with the big smile. "For the past two years, my goal was just to make it to the Final, and to be sitting here is unbelievable." JGP Final champ Jason Brown is confident he will get the triple Axel consistent. (Getty Images) While he doesn't have that one weapon, the jumps Brown did do including a triple Lutztriple toe combination were clean, and he was the only man in the Facebook Tweet Email Print event to earn Level 4 for steps. Brown earned 139.64 for his free; when added to his short program total, it gave him 208.41 overall. • Gallery: Thursday backstage at the Grand Prix Final The skater hopes to master the threeandahalf revolution jump in time for his next competition, the 2012 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. • Chan draws on past in effort to win gold in Sochi • Miner pays tribute to Boston with 'Glory'ous free • World Skater Rankings: Making sense of men's "I would love to put that in for nationals and just to keep going up from here," • Hubbell's scope: Balancing program tweaks, yoga • Orser preps students, psyche for Olympic season Brown said.
