• The Ofoten Railway represents 1% of the norwegian railway network but carry more than 60% of the cargo (tons), - mainly iron ore.

• 95% of groceries purchased by consum- ers living north of the Arctic Circle are transported by the Ofoten Railway.

• Nearly 200.000 tons/yr of fish from northern Norway are transported by the south- bound cargo trains, and rapidly increasing.
