INVC NEWS , Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh today said that efforts are going on a war-footing on up-linking the Internet facilities at the Panchayats' level on Broad Band. The target is to make Chief Minister and Panchayat Minister have a video-conferencing directly with the ten thousand panchayats' Sarpanchs-Panchs from the capital itself. He was discussing the Internet facility with the newly-appointed officers of the Indian Information Service at his official residence. The officers are on a study tour of . Dr. Raman Singh while referring to the Balrampur-Ramanujganj district said that all the 340 Gram Panchayats of the district had been up-linked and connected to the entire country and globe. The project had been completed two-and-half-months ago. The officers presented Dr. Raman Singh with a memento and listened to his views with rapt attention. Dr. Raman Singh said that Chhattisgarh administration is transparent and Public Distribution System (PDS) is totally computerized. He further explained various social welfare schemes of the authorities. Under the Food Security Act about 60 lakh families under the Below Poverty Line (BPL) had been empowered with Right to Food. Even in the age of print media, television and social media, radio still holds a sway in the large parts of the far-flung regions of Chhattisgarh. Radio as a medium provides information, education and entertainment to the masses. Prime Minister Mr. addresses 'Man Ki Baat' and on a similar pattern 'Raman Ke Goth' is aired on Chhattisgarh Akaashwani on the second Sunday of every month. Dr. Raman Singh while referring to the Naxalites' issue added that police and Central security forces are fighting the toughest battle in the world. Seventy-five per cent of the affected areas had been freed from Naxalites' influence during the past 12 years and the remaining will be weaned away in the next couple of years. He said that gun and bullets are not the answer to Naxalites' crisis. Efforts are bearing success due to the rapid socio-economic development of the affected districts. He also explained in detail regarding the Education City at village Jawanga in Dantewada district. Twenty-seven Prayas Boarding Schools' students had been selected for the toughest examination I.I.T. this year. The target is 100 students to be selected next academic year. Kushabhau Thakre Journalism and Mass Communication University Raipur Vice-Chancellor Professor Mansingh Parmar, Public Relations Department Secretary Mr. Santosh Misra and Public Relations Director Mr. Rajesh Sukumar Toppo were also present.
