Ian Bostridge Tenor Ian Bostridge’s international recital career takes him to the foremost concert halls of Europe, Japan, and North America, with regular appearances at the Salzburg, Edinburgh, Munich, Vienna, Schwarzenberg, and Aldeburgh festivals. He has had residencies at the Wiener Konzerthaus, Carnegie Hall New York, Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Luxembourg Philharmonie, London’s Barbican Centre, and Wigmore Hall. In opera, he has performed the roles of Tamino (Mozart Die Zauberflöte), Jupiter (Handel Semele), and Aschenbach (Britten Death in Venice) at English National Opera, Quint (Britten The Turn of the Screw), Don Ottavio (Mozart Don Giovanni), and Caliban (Adès The Tempest) for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Don Ottavio at the Wiener Staatsoper, Tom Rakewell (Stravinsky The Rake’s Progress) at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich, and Quint at Teatro alla Scala, Milan. Highlights of the 2017-18 season include Berlioz Les nuits d’été with the Seattle Symphony and Ludovic Morlot, recital tours to both the East and West coasts of America, the title role in Handel Jeptha at the Opéra national de Paris, a residency with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and Britten War Requiem with the Staatskapelle Berlin and Antonio Pappano. His many recordings have won all the major international record prizes and been nominated for 15 Grammys. He was awarded a CBE in the 2004 New Year’s Honours. In 2016, he was awarded the The Pol Roger Duff Cooper Prize for non-fiction writing for his latest book, Schubert’s Winter Journey: Anatomy of an Obsession.
Julius Drake Piano The pianist Julius Drake enjoys an international reputation as one of the finest instrumentalists in his field, collaborating with many of the world’s leading artists, both in recital and on disc. He appears regularly at all the major music centres: the Aldeburgh, Edinburgh, Munich, Schubertiade, and Salzburg Music Festivals; Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Centre, New York; the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, and BBC Proms, London. His many recordings include a widely acclaimed series with Gerald Finley for Hyperion, which won three Gramophone Awards; award-winning recordings with Ian Bostridge for EMI; several recitals for the Wigmore Live label, with among others Alice Coote, Joyce DiDonato, Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, Christopher Maltman, and Matthew Polenzani; recordings of Kodály and Shoeck sonatas with the cellists Natalie Clein and Christian Poltéra for the Hyperion and Bis labels; of Tchaikovsky and Mahler with Christianne Stotijn for Onyx; English song with Bejun Mehta for Harmonia Mundi; and Schubert Lieder ‘Poetisches Tagebuch’ with Christoph Prégardien, winner of the Jahrpreis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik 2017. Ian Bostridge made his Royal Conservatory debut on March 4, 2012, and Julius Drake on May 9, 2010. Mr. Drake returns to Koerner Hall on April 22, 2018 with Gerald Finley.
