Larchmont Family Fair on Sunday, October 28, 2012 12 NOON – 5:00 PM

Join in the fun and support Cathedral Chapel School Larchmont Blvd. between Beverly Blvd. and 3rd St.

Mark your calendars and get the kids’ costumes ready: the Larchmont Family Fair is here again, Sunday October 28, 2012.

Closing down Larchmont Boulevard from 1st to Beverly, the annual event now is one of the community’s favorite functions. This year’s event promises games, rides, ponies, a petting zoo, climbing walls, and food from many dozens of vendors, local schools, churches, synagogues and non-profits. A haunted house sponsored by Brushfire Records promises to scare the scream right out of your children. Please come and support our parents, teachers and students who will be marketing our school at the Larchmont Family Fair!

Student Council Candy Apple Sale on Tuesday, October 30

Candy Apple Order Forms are enclosed in today’s Family Envelope so you can place your order for the Candy Apple Sale on Tuesday, October 30, 2012! Support your Student Council and plan to order your Candy Apples for family, friends, and co-workers. Each apple comes individually wrapped and costs $2.00 per apple. Halloween Celebration on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 $6.00 for prizes for the Halloween Carnival DUE October 26.

We will celebrate Halloween on Wednesday, October 31, 2012. The students may wear appropriate costumes to school e.g. NO devils, NO French maids, NO Ku Klux Klan, NO Freddy Krueger, NO Bart Simpson, NO Joker costumes, NO mafia characters, NO Grim Reaper costumes or other people who are contrary to the philosophy of a CATHOLIC SCHOOL. WEAPONS of any kind are NOT allowed with the Halloween costumes. Our children experience enough violence in the daily news and in TV programs so we are asking parents to carefully consider the costume their child will be wearing to school. As we celebrate Halloween, we encourage you as parents to help your children choose costumes that honor heroes or positive historical figures. Any costume that speaks of violence or bloodshed will not be allowed. Any student who does not wear an APPROPRIATE costume will be sent home to change into the school uniform.

The Department of Catholic Schools has reminded us that Halloween was originally a Christian preparation for the feast of All Saints’ Day and our celebration of Halloween should reflect our Catholic School philosophy. The students will have some classes in the morning so if you think your child’s costume might be too distracting or uncomfortable to wear all day, they can change during the lunch hour. The students in the upper grades should not put on any makeup or facial decorations until the lunch hour. Makeup that speaks of violence or bloodshed will not be allowed.

Halloween is supposed to be a FUN day for ALL teachers and students! Please choose an appropriate costume for a Catholic School!
