CELEBRATES ITS 30 TH ANNIVERSARY WITH A CONCERT IN PRAGUE

LAIBACH – The controversial icon of Slovenian music, which has conquered both sides of the Atlantic, will be in Prague to celebrate its 30th anniversary!

The Prague stop on their twenty-concert tour, which will also include Germany, the UK and Belgium among others, is set for December 9 at the Archa Theatre. The name of the tour, Laibach Revisited, refers to the release of their two-disk album of the same name, which features Laibach’s re-mastered first album (from 1985) with added bonus tracks on the first CD and a selection of songs from 1980-1986 in new arrangements on the second CD.

------

Laibach was formed in 1980 in the mountain town of in central . Their first project was Vykřičené čtvrti, which was quickly banned by the local authorities of the time. Three years later Laibach again felt the pressure of totalitarian censorship, this time even more devastating: they were forbidden from any artistic activities in the entire territory of Yugoslavia. Their first album, released in 1985, carried the logo of the band, but no name. But the band succeeded in a daring escapade and in that same year debuted in Hamburg with their album Rekapitulacija 1980-1984 and a year later in England, when the independent label Cherry Red released their recording Nova Akropola. But their real breakthrough came with the album Opus dei in spring 1987, which was released under the British label Mute and their next recording in 1989, which Laibach took on a major tour of Europe and the USA. The label of controversial band, fantastic coves of hits by Opus, Queen, and , original , an interesting stage presence, bold multimedia projects... all this resulted in the world falling in love with Laibach and it still loves them to this day. So far the band has released 22 albums (including concert recordings) and thousands of fans around the world as well as critics eagerly await anything new. It’s no surprise: you won’t find another band that succeeds in industrial re-imaginings of Bach or Wagner and for whom “nothing is sacred”, not even the national anthems of world powers.
