2017 Crooked Stick Invitational 2017 Crooked Stick Invitational 2017 CROOKED STICK INVITATIONAL 2017 CROOKED STICK INVITATIONAL Dear Players & Coaches: On behalf of the staff and membership of Crooked Stick Golf Club, it’s my pleasure to welcome you to our Club and the 2017 Crooked Stick Invitational. We are excited about the event and the privilege of hosting some of the top collegiate players and teams from around the country. We are hopeful that you will enjoy the challenges and thrills of the wonderful golf course that Pete Dye built for us. Crooked Stick has a rich history in terms of world-class championship golf. We began our relationship with the USGA by hosting the 1982 Boys Junior Championship and have since hosted five additional USGA Championships including the 1993 U.S. Women’s Open and most recently the 2009 U.S. Senior Open. John Daly’s historic win in the 1991 PGA Championship, the United States victory in the 2005 Solheim Cup along with the BMW Championship in 2012 and 2106 have also been highlights of the Club’s competitive golf history. As you can see hosting major golf events and testing the best players in the world under championship conditions is one of the goals of our membership. We are pleased to continue that tradition by hosting this Collegiate Invitational. It is our hope that players, coaches and spectators have a wonderful experience here at Crooked Stick. While it’s late in our golf season, we are confident the golf course will be challenging and enjoyable. Lastly and most importantly I hope you will please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your visit more enjoyable. We want you to have a first-hand experience of “Hoosier Hospitality” while you are here! Best of luck in the tournament! Aaron Eckstein was a two-time captain of the team; Garland Green finished his career ninth on the Tech’s All-Time Scoring list; and Marshall Bailey became only the second Hokie golfer to compete in four NCAA Championships. Head Coach Jay Hardwick’s task has been to continue to develop his returning players while integrating three promising freshmen into the team, all toward the ultimate goal of competing for the national championship. The season began just outside Chicago, Ill., with the Hokies making their first appearance in the Northern Intercollegiate at renowned Rich Harvest Farms, site of the 2009 Solheim Cup. The team finished fourth against a talented field, and junior Mikey Moyers tied for third individually. The Hokies then finished fifth at the VCU Shootout at Hermitage Country Club, much closer to home in Richmond, Va. Freshman Scott Vincent led the team, tying for 11th place on the same course that he had won the Valentine Invitational just a few weeks earlier.

The PING® 1A™ putter inaugurated a revolution in golf club design and manufacturing that would see Karsten’s company grow into a brand world-renowned for innovation and unequalled quality. Karsten, with his family at his side, went on to pioneer custom fitting and bring new processes to the manufacturing of golf clubs, including investment casting and heat treating. He recognized the value of scientific research and employed high speed cameras and a robotic golfer (The PING® Man) to analyze the dynamics of the golf club. His insistence on adhering to strict engineering principles and tight manufacturing tolerances raised the level of product performance and quality throughout the golf industry. It all led to more enjoyment for golfers all over the world.
