In 1910, the membership incorporated as Bellerive Country Club, naming the club after Louis St. Ange De Bellerive, the last French commander in North America. In 1955, the club membership decided to move west, and allowed renowned architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr. to pick a prime farm for the location of the new site. On Memorial Day, 1960 the “Green Monster of Ladue” opened. The Championship tradition of Bellerive Country Club began in 1965 when the club became the “youngest” course too ever host a US Open. South African, Gary Player won the event, and completed his career grand slam. Since its unveiling to the world, Bellerive has went on to host many national and world championships, 1981 the club hosted the US Mid-Amateur Championship, won by Jim Holtgrieve. Nick Price captured his first major by winning the 1992 PGA Championship here at Bellerive. In 2001 the American Express World Golf Championship, scheduled for September, was cancelled due to the events on 9-11. Major Championship golf returned to the club in 2004 with the US Senior Open won by Peter Jacobsen. In 2008, Bellerive put out its hosting mat welcoming the BMW Championships. The PGA returned to the club this past May as we hosted the 2013 Senior PGA Championship.
