BAND PERFORMANCE FLOW Band Check-In • When you first arrive at the Pontiac Silverdome you will be directed to Band Check-In, located at the entrance of the bus/truck parking at Gate 2, on the east side of the stadium. • Your check-in packet will consist of the six (6) name badges you requested, 25 prelims field passes, any pre­ ordered patches, and an updated performance schedule and other relevant information. • Band Check-In will open 30 MINUTES prior to the first band warm-up time.

Competing Band Name Badges and Field Passes • You will receive a maximum of six (6) name badges for yourself plus the five other names submitted on the Information Sheet. • Name badges allow entrance into the stadium all day. • Each band will receive 25 field passes, valid for prelims only. • Competing Band Field Passes for Finalist Bands will be handed out at the Finalist Director Meeting. • Field passes are not interchangeable and may not be shared with other participating bands. The use of field passes will be monitored and penalties assessed for abuse of the rules. • Nurses are not exempt from the field pass policy. BOA will provide a medical crew on-site all day. • Special Exception: Ifa student roster is not submitted by September 14, you will ONLY receive the 6 name badges. The 25 Field Passes will be forfeited. Ifrosters are not received by the above date your certificates will be mailed to you by November 30, 2012.

Bus/Truck Parking Passes • A parking pass is required for each bus and truck. • Parking passes, equal to the number indicated by your payment, will be mailed approximately 2 weeks prior to the event. • Ifyou have not submitted a parking pass request and payment, please send payment at $15 per bus or truck to our office no later than September 21 in order to receive your passes in time. Ifpayment is not received, you may purchase passes at $30 per bus or truck on-site. • ONLY those vehicles WITH A PONTIAC REGIONAL PARKING PASS are allowed in the DESIGNATED bus and truck unload/reload area and parking lots. • Bus/Truck parking passes may NOT be used in personal vehicles. • One Staff Vehicle parking pass will also be included with your bus/truck passes. This is the only staff vehicle that will be allowed in the bus/truck unload/reload area. All other personal vehicles will need to park in a spectator lot. • Please display the pass prominently in the front window of the vehicle to be easily seen. • Music for All is committed to providing safe and secure venues and events. Your compliance and cooperation are appreciated.

Bus/Truck Parking • The Bus/Truck parking lot is located northeast of the stadium. • To enter the bus/truck lot, turn into the Gate 2 entrance to the stadium off of Opdyke Road. • BOA volunteers will be on hand to meet you upon arrival and will give your drivers parking instructions. • No eating is allowed in the Bus/Truck parking areas. • Physical or musical warm-up is only allowed in the official warm-up areas during your assigned warm-up time. • Ifyou wish to have additional warm-up or practice times, you must make your own arrangements off of Pontiac Silverdome property.

Page 1 0/4 Band Warm-Up • All warm-up areas are paved surfaces. • It is your responsibility to report to your warm-up area at your scheduled time. Please allow plenty of time to arrive in warm-up. • While in warm-up, BOA staff will monitor your 45-minute time and then walk you to the Band Entrance Gate for your report time as listed on the prelim schedule. • Your guide will signal you (or someone you designate) at 15 minutes, 5 minutes and 2 minutes before you must be clear of the warm-up area. • Your pit will move toward the stadium 10 minutes prior to the rest of the band. • Bands may NOT warm-up on site except during their assigned warm-up period and only at the assigned location. Failure to comply with warm-up regulations may result in a penalty. • Ifyou arrive late for your warm-up time, you cannot stay past your 45-minute scheduled time. You will be directed ON TIME to the Band Entrance Gate.

Percussion Warm-Up BATTERY PERCUSSION • The Battery warm-up is with the Band in the designated Band Warm-up area.

PIT PERCUSSION • A separate Pit Percussion Warm-Up is located just outside the south tunnel pit entrance/exit. • Pit percussion may also warm-up with the Band in the designated Band Warm-up Area, although this will result in the pit having to leave the Band Warm-up Area 10 minutes prior to the rest of the band. • There can be no sound bleed into the stadium. • Battery in pit warm-up is only allowed during your designated pit warm-up time. • Pits will report to the airlock at their designated time per the Prelims schedule (Ifl-minutes prior to the band report time).

During Your 45-Minute Warm-Up • Please note that if your band uses a wireless system, it may NOT be tested or used during your designated 45­ minute warm-up. Channels may be the same from band to band, and we want to prevent accidental overlap to a performing band on the field. • You may therefore only test your wireless system on the performance field. • The use of Dr. Beats, jam blocks, other time-keeping devices and the use of long rangers and megaphone amplification devices WILL be allowed in outside warm-up areas only, with the following exceptions: 1) NO wireless systems will be allowed in the warm-up areas. 2) The sound projected cannot interfere with the performances occurring in the stadium

Motorized Vehicles in the Stadium • Golf carts and motorized vehicles are allowed in the stadium ONLY if they have a bib (diaper) type covering underneath the engine of the vehicle. • There must be some type of covering under the battery of any amplified equipment. There cannot be any acid, fuel or oil drop on the turf. • Please un-lock the wheels on your front ensemble carts when in transport.

Gate Dimensions • The Band and Pit Entrance and Exit Gate is 13' 8" wide and 13' 10" high. • Measure props and other large pieces of equipment to accommodate for this space. • Reminder: BOA's rules regarding the use of props at Bands of America events are still in effect. Be sure to read Article-1, Section 6.05, page 12 of the BOA Adjudication Handbook. Props may not exceed 12 feet in height.

Hash Marks The field will have two sets of markings: • Professional football hash marks, which are 70' 9" from the sidelines. • High School markings dividing the field into equal thirds, 53'4" from the front and back sidelines.

Page 2 0]4 Instrument Repair provided by Marshall Music Company • Marshall Music Company is our official music store for the event and will provide an on-site instrument repair service for minor repairs. • A repair technician will be located near the Band Entrance Gate. Please feel free to stop by and join us in thanking them for their services throughout the event.

Adjudication Sheets, CD and Mr. Video DVD • NEW! Approximately 90 minutes after your Prelims performance, you can check your email for the link to your judge commentary. In most cases, this will happen before the 90 minute mark. For this year, we will still be providing CD's with your judge commentary and can be picked up 90 minutes after your performance, along with your Mr. Video DVD, at the Mr. Video booth located on the concourse. • All adjudication sheets will be held until the END of the finals competition when you can pick them up at field level, along with Prelims and Finals recaps. If, for some reason, you are not staying for finals, your sheets will be sent to you Tuesday after the Regional. • Sheets will not be released early under any circumstances. • You may designate someone to pick up your packet at the conclusion of the show.

Restrooms and Changing Facilities • Ifyour band needs to change into and out of uniform, public restrooms will be available to use in the stadium. • Ifyou need to use these facilities, please go IN GROUP, to the East Gate of the stadium. • There will be a limited number of port-a-lets available in the bus/truck parking lot.

Band Re-Entry to the Stadium • Bands who have performed and wish to return to the stadium to watch should enter through the EAST GATE. All students must have a hand stamp, which they will receive as they exit the performance field. • Non-finalist bands with a complimentary student ticket must use the WEST GATE for entry into the finals competition. • Adults entering with the band must have a field pass or a director badge. Patrons with tickets should use the WEST Gate for entry into the stadium.

Feeding and Watering your Band • The designated picnic area is located off-site at the Pontiac Lake Recreation Area (see enclosed map and directions). Shelters at the park may be reserved in advance and are first-come/ first-served. Please see the map for contact information. • Please do not leave any garbage behind in the picnic area. • Eating is NOT allowed in the Bus/Truck parking areas. • The stadium will be cleared and concessions will be closed during the dinner break. • Please inform your instructors and boosters of these policies. • Bands of America does not provide post performance water services at its regional events. Each participating band should plan appropriately for the care of its students. • In most cases, Bands ofAmerica will have access to facilities to refill or replenish your water supply. • Containers, cups and other supplies and the provision ofwater service itself are ultimately the responsibility of the participant.

Complimentary Tickets for Non-Finalist Bands • If your students do not perform in Finals, they willneed a ticket to enter the stadium. • Complimentary student tickets can only be picked up at the ticket booth between Prelims and Finals. • Non-Finalist Bands must use the WEST GATE ofthe Stadium to enter finals competition. • We ask that only one representative from the band come to the ticket booth with proper band identification to pick up these tickets in a block. • Complimentary tickets are for non-finalist students only, NOT for band staff and parents.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Local Time • At the time of the Regional, Pontiac, MI will be on Eastern Daylight Time. Please plan your travel accordingly. Page 3014 Spectator Parking and Entry • The spectator lot is located on the west side of the stadium off of Featherstone Road and can be accessed through Gate 5. See attached maps for further information. • The spectator parking lot will open at 9:00 a.m. • There is a $10 charge for spectator parking at the Pontiac Regional Championship. This includes in/out privileges. • The Box Office and Spectator Entry is located at the WEST GATE. • Please share this with your parents and boosters in advance. • Outside food and beverage may NOT be brought into the Pontiac Silverdorne.

Photography • Jolesch Photography will be on-site to take a group picture of each band after they exit the performance area. They will also be taking action photos on the field level. • Order information has been included in this packet and will also be available on-site. • Due to the professional crew on-site, use of cameras of any kind are NOT ALLOWED on the field (stadium floor) for any BOA event. Please communicate this to your parent/booster group. • Still cameras (digital or film, professional or otherwise) are allowed into the stadium and may be used from stadium seating, but not on the field. • Tripods or other similar equipment that may obstruct the view or path of travel of others in seating areas are not allowed. • The issuance of a "Field Pass" or other non-media BOA Credential does not include the right to use a camera on the field. Pass holders must go into stadium spectator seating to use their camera.

Professional DVDs Available • Mr. Video Productions will be on-site at the Pontiac Silverdome and at EVERY Regional and Super Regional this fall to provide top-quality DVDs ofyour championship performance. • Due to the professional crew on-site and in order to comply with copyright laws, video and audio devices of any kind are NOT ALLOWED in the stadium for any BOA event. Please communicate this to your parent/booster group. • Directors will receive a free, high-camera video of your prelim and finals performance.

Media Personnel and Band Photography Policies • "Media Passes" are intended for official media outlets only (i.e. newspapers, television, radio). • A representative is required to show official media credentials in order to pick up a pass and must sign in at the ticket window with name and media outlet. • A student representative of a school's newspaper or yearbook may receive a media pass with valid school media credentials. • Still photography of any kind MAY be taken from the spectator seating areas. • "Official Band Photographers" are still allowed, so long as such person uses one of the band's 25 field passes in order to be allowed in pre-performance credentialed areas. • Official Band Photographers must still go INTO the spectator stands to shoot pictures during performances. • Official Band Photographer photos are NOT to be sold, distributed, duplicated or placed on the web in any downloadable fashion. Their use must be for archival or media purposes only. • This restriction applies to all who enter the stadium, including any band parentiadult with a field pass. • Only Jolesch Photography and official media will be allowed to shoot from field level. • No video or audio recording devices are allowed into the stadium, including those with "band videographers." • Credentialed television news crews and BOA-pre-approved professional filmmakers are the only exceptions.

NEW FOR 2012 FALL: JUDGE AUDIO This fall we will be testing a NEW delivery method for the judge audio files that we hope will be more convenient and useful for you and your staff. Onsite, you will receive an email (the email where you are receiving this packet will be the one used) that contains a link that can be accessed directly from your smartphone/computers/iPads, etc. The link will take you directly to your judge commentary files stored in a Dropbox account. Ifyou have your own Dropbox account, you will be able to access them with that account. Ifyou do not have a Dropbox account of your own, you will still have the ability to access your files from the link you receive from us. Until we know this works well for you and your staff, we will continue be providing you with a Data CD onsite as well. BUS AND EQUIPMENT TRUCK PARKING PASSES Ifyou have ordered Bus/Truck parking passes, they will be mailed to you with your cooperative tickets, two weeks prior to your event. Ifyou have not yet ordered Bus/Truck parking passes, please download and complete the Parking Pass Request form located in the May Mailing section at the above link. Bus/Truck parking passes are required to enter the Bus/Truck unload and parking lots at the Pontiac Regional. Only ONE Staff Vehicle will be allowed in the bus/truck parking/unload areas with the appropriate Staff Vehicle Pass.

COOPERATIVE TICKETS Your 15 Day Pass Cooperative tickets will be mailed to you, along with your parking passes, two weeks prior to the event. These tickets allow general admission to both Prelims and Finals. Tickets cannot be upgraded.

ADDITIONAL TICKETS Be sure to remind your boosters that additional Day Passes and other tickets can be purchased in advance at www.musicforall.org or on-site at the ticket booth. ADJUDICATION PANEL The adjudication panel for the Pontiac Regional will be: Steve Calhoun, Joel Denton, Mike Lentz, Monte Mast, Mike Tarr, Dean Westman, and Daniel Wiles. Bob Thomas will serve as ChiefJudge for this event. Specific judging assignments will be distributed on-site at band check-in. Please remember: Contact with any of these judges prior to the show is generally inappropriate. MFA PHOTOGRAPHY POLICY Included in this packet is a detailed description of our current camera policies. Please share this information with your parents and boosters to avoid surprises at the gate. Still cameras (digital or film, professional or otherwise) are allowed into the stadium and may be used from stadium seating, but not on the field. Videotaping is not permitted. Tripods, or other similar equipment that may obstruct the view or path of travel of others, are not allowed. The issuance of a "Field Pass" or other non-media BOA Credential does not include the right to use a camera on the field. Pass holders must go into stadium spectator seating to use their cameras. More details are included in the enclosed Important Event Procedures.

This policy also enables Music for All to comply with the United States copyright laws prohibiting the recording of copyrighted material without consent of the copyright holders. It must be submitted by August 13, 2012. STIJDENT ROSTER WITH ADDRESSES AND YEAR OF GRADUATION A Student Roster is required for participation in all Fall events. Rosters are due to our office no later than August 27, 2012. Roster must be sent electronically, and it must be done in Excel. Include fields (columns) for First Name, Last Name, Street Address, City, State, Zip, Graduation Year and Email Address'. Attach the document to an email with the following information, and send to [email protected]: 1) Your name as the director, high school and state 2) All BOA shows that your band will be attending this Fall 3) Subject line should read "2012 Fall Roster

Microsoft Works, Microsoft Word, PDFs and/or faxed rosters cannot be accepted. Contact the Music for All office at 800.848.2263 with any questions. 'We understand that due to student safety issues, many school districts do not allow release of student contact information. If this is the case at your school, we ask that you still send us a list of your students (first name, last name). This roster is used to generate a personalized certificate for each student, as well as obtaining an

1 of 3 accurate count of your ensemble for participation segments and champion medallions. Music for All requests student contact information so that we can communicate directly with your students and their parents about further educational opportunities.

TICKET AND PASS POLICIES Please review the Ticket and Pass Policy forms on our Website. These forms provide information regarding name badges, field passes and tickets. Be sure to share this information with your staff members and booster group. Tickets for the fall shows are available at musicforall.org under "Store." Avoid ticket lines at the stadium! Band supporters who wish to sit together at any event with reserved seats need to purchase tickets as a block. Seats not ordered together are not guaranteed placement together. Whether you are performing at Grand Nationals or not - order your tickets early for the 2012 Grand National Championships at Lucas Oil Stadium. Prices, seating diagram and other information are online. Mark your calendar NOW for November 7-10!

HOUSING FOR FALL CHAMPIONSHIPS Grand Nationals: The Grand Nationals Housing Bureau will be open by May 31. An email will be sent to all Grand National participants when the Housing Bureau opens with specific details. As a reminder, ALL Grand National participants, who choose to stay in a hotel, are required to use a participating Housing Bureau hotel as stated on your signed application/contract. If you do not need a hotel for Grand Nationals and would prefer,to secure a non-hotel facility for housing or for rehearsal space, please download the Facilities Contact List.

Super Regionals: All Super Regional participants, who choose to stay in a hotel, are required to use a participating Housing Bureau hotel as stated on your signed application/contract. Super Regional Housing Bureaus are open, and an email with information on the Housing Bureau has been sent to all enrolled participants. The Super Regional housing links are available at ~:'-Y,m_1}§!~f()I<:lJl,9fg in the Fall championships area. Regionals: MFA can assist you in securing hotel accommodations for Regional Championships. By securing hotels on a case-by-case basis, we can work to find a hotel in your preferred location and within your budget. BUS AND EQUIPMENT TRUCK PARKING The following shows require the purchase of parking passes for all buses/trucks: Louisville, Akron, Pontiac, Denton, Indianapolis, Atlanta, San Antonio and St. Louis. Refer to the Bus/Truck Parking Pass Request form online for pricing. Payment is not requiredfor Grand Nationals. To ensure the safety of your students, we will continue the policy that bands are not allowed to eat food in the bus/truck parking areas at an event. Please relay this information to your booster group as they plan for your fall season. We will disclose a suitable picnic location, if available, either on or offsite, in your final event packet.

These passes are for buses and trucks ONLY and may not be used on personal vehicles. One Staff vehicle pass, that is valid for the bus/truck parking lot, will also be sent for SELECT SHOWS only. We are unable to accommodate staff/personal vehicles in the bus/truck parking lot at venues where space is limited. Pease refer to your final packet Important Event Procedures for details regarding specifics for each show. 2012 CHAMPIONSHIP PATCHES 2012 Bands of America Regional, Super Regional and Grand National Championship Patches will be available for purchase this fall at every Regional, Super Regional or Grand National Championships at either the BOA souvenir stand or online. Download the Patch Order Form at musicforall.org to pre-order 50 or more patches at a discounted price of $5 ($6 per patch onsite). In addition, BOA recognizes each and every student in the Regional, Super Regional and Grand National Championships as a participant with a specially designed participant segment intended to complement the event patch. Patches will be distributed onsite at each event.

2 of 3 PROCEDURES AND ADJUDICATION HANDBOOK A copy of the Procedures and Adjudication Handbook can be downloaded at www.musicforall.org, under the "RESOURCES" menu. *An updated handbook will be posted and available/or download, on website by May 31, 2012. An email communication will be sent to notify you and to summarize any changes that were made. GRAND NATIONAL PARTICIPATING BANDS ONLY A photograph of your band will be printed in the Grand National Championships program book. If you participated in the 2011 Grand National Championships, MFA will request a photo from last year's event provided by jolesch Photography. If you were not at Nationals last year, please indicate on the Information Sheet how you plan to submit the photo. Materials are due to Music for All by August 13.

Do NOT paper clip it to another piece of paper (the clip will scratch it) and do NOT staple it. Do mark your band's name on the back with a soft tip pen, but please do NOT press down with a ballpoint pen (this will leave visible impressions when printing).
