THE FOUNDATION AIMS TO PROMOTE DIALOGUE AMONG ALL DISCIPLINES OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY ON A GLOBAL LEVEL.
Through this, the Foundation aims to give incentives to initiate a politically supportive, confidence-building, collaborative, and research- stimulating exchange. The key principle behind this focus is the knowledge that for any environmental policy to be effective, it must be applied trans- nationally.
The existential meaning of sustainable policy should be fostered through the annual meeting of international environmental award winners who have made outstanding contributions to environmental policy, the “International Convention of Environmental Laureates”. In summer 2015 the foundation will launch a brand new project: a web-based communication platform for the laureates, for environmental NGOs, associations and organizations and for the prize-giving institutions to exchange, connect and plan joint projects easily across continents and throughout the whole year.
The aim of the European Environment Foundation is for a larger segment of the population to be made aware of the need for worldwide environmental policies. Other goals include strengthening political institutions and encouraging academic research to discover unknown connections and devise new solutions for sustainable methods of handling natural resources. Special attention will be focused on encouraging young people to consider these issues.
