GORCZYCA Abstract: The genus Peritropis UHLER from the Oriental Region is revised. Six new species of the genus are described from Brunei, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. All type material, except P. lugubris POPPIUS, has been examined. All known species from the Oriental Region are redescribed. Photos of the dorsal habitus of all species are presented and keys to the Oriental species are provided. Key words: Cylapinae, Heteroptera, new species, Oriental Region, Peritropis, taxonomy. Illustrations of the dorsal habitus, male and female genitalia, tarsi, fore- and hind legs are provided. The possible phyl- etic relationships of this taxon are briefly discussed. Key words: Sulawesifulvius, new genus, new species, Sulawesi, taxonomy Introduction Thirteen specimens of an amazing bug, collected by fogging the forest canopy of Bogani Nani Wartabone National Park (formerly Dumoga Bone National Park), Sulawesi, Indone- sia, were found by the senior author in the collections of The Natural History Museum (London). These specimens possess an unusual set of character states which at first glance made the family status of these bugs uncertain. More detailed examination proved that they have subdivided trochanters, trichobothria on meso- and metafemora, and a cuneus, and bicellulated membrane on each hemelytron. These states indicate that they belong to the family Miridae. -

The number A of abdominal segments varies, however; there are only six in the Collembola (springtails), 9–12 in the Protura, and 10 in the Diplura, whereas in all other hexapods there are strictly 11. Insects are now regarded as comprising only those hexapods with 11 abdominal segments. Whereas crustaceans are the dominant group of arthropods in the sea, hexapods prevail on land, in numbers and biomass. Altogether, the Hexapoda constitutes the most diverse group of animals – the estimated number of described species worldwide is just over 900,000, with the beetles (order Coleoptera) comprising more than a third of these. Today, the Hexapoda is considered to contain four classes – the Insecta, and the Protura, Collembola, and Diplura. The latter three classes were formerly allied with the insect orders Archaeognatha (jumping bristletails) and Thysanura (silverfish) as the insect subclass Apterygota (‘wingless’). The Apterygota is now regarded as an artificial assemblage (Bitsch & Bitsch 2000). -

Seven new species: Cylapocoris costaricaensis sp. nov., C. cucullatus sp. nov., C. fulvus sp. nov., C. laevigatus sp. nov., C. marmoreus sp. nov., C. plectipennis sp. nov., and C. sim- plex sp. nov. are described from Costa Rica, Brazil, Ecuador, and Venezuela. The genus Adcylapocoris Carvalho, 1989 is synonymized with Cylapocoris. Five species: C. castaneus (Carvalho, 1989), C. funebris (Distant, 1883), C. pilosus Car- valho, 1954, C. sulinus Carvalho & Gomes 1971, and C. tiquiensis Carvalho, 1954 are redescribed. Illustrations of the male genitalia, color photographs of dorsal and lateral views of the adult of most species, scanning electron micrographs of selected structures of C. simplex, and keys to species of the genus Cylapocoris are provided. INTRODUCTION The genera Peritropis UHLER and Fulvius STÅL are the most numerous of the subfamily Cylapinae. Genus Peritropis contains more than 70 species known all over the World (SCHUH 1995; GORCZYCA 2006a; MOULDS and CASSIS 2006). This genus is the most speciose in the Old World, where about 50 species have been reported so far (GORCZYCA 2006ab). In a recent revision of this genus from the Oriental region, five groups of species were established: lewisi, nigripenis, poppiana, suturella and thai- landica, on the basis of coloration and external morphology (GORCZYCA 2006b). The thailandica-group contains three species in the Oriental Region: P. electilis BERGROTH, P. sulawesica GORCZYCA and P. thailandica GORCZYCA. Within the material borrowed from the Natural History Museum in London, the senior author found two representatives of the genus Peritropis belonging to the thai- landica-group. They represent a new species, whose description is given below. -
Fulvius Stysi, a New Species of Cylapinae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Miridae) from Papua New Guinea

Heteroptera, Miridae, Cylapinae, Fulvius stysi, taxonomy, new species, genitalia, Papua New Guinea Introduction Fulvius Stål, 1862 is one of the most numerous and most diverse genera within the subfamily Cylapinae of the family Miridae. Representatives of the genus occur worldwide, mainly in warm regions, but a few species are also known from temperate zones in the Palaearctic and Nearctic regions (CHÉROT et al. 2006, GORCZYCA 2006, YASUNAGA & MIYAMOTO 2006). The biology of Fulvius species is little known. Some probably are predators of small invertebrates, whereas other species have been reported from orchids and fungi (GORCZYCA 2006). Recently three groups of species have been established within the genus: anthocoroides-complex, includ- ing mainly Old World species, bisbistilatus-complex for Neotropical species and bifenestratus- complex for Oriental and Australian species (SADOWSKA-WODA 2005, GORCZYCA 2006). Among material collected in Papua New Guinea and housed in the Institut Royal des Sciences Naturelles de Belgique (Brussels, Belgium), we found several representatives of the genus Fulvius. -

Key words: Heteroptera, Miridae, Isometopinae, Myiommini, new genus, new species, Baltic amber Introduction This joint article should be considered as a continuation of a series of publications on fossil mirids from the Baltic amber (Prussian Formation). Miridae, or plant bugs, are the largest family of contemporary true bugs (Heteroptera) widespread all over the world, with about 1,500 genera and over 10,000 species (Schuh 1995, Kerzhner & Josifov 1999). Recent Isometopinae is a relatively small subfamily including about 190 species, strongly cryptic in habits and rare in world collections. Some are predaceous and may hunt soft-bodied, mostly aphids and scale insects. Most inclusions of fossil plant bugs are usually found in the Eocene Baltic amber, where mirids are mainly repre- sented by the subfamilies Cylapinae, Isometopinae, and Mirinae (Popov & Herczek 2008). These fossil insects were rather scarce only in the first years of their discovery (Popov & Herczek 1992, 1993; Herczek 1993). Judging from the described and undescribed of Baltic amber mirids known to us just now, the isometopinae are not so rare among other fossil mirids and provide evidence for a considerable diversity at least since Eocene time. -
