Notes Note for customers using the JAPAN RAIL PASS This note provides important information for customers traveling in the Seikan region (Aomori Prefecture and Hokkaido [South Hokkaido]). The area within which your pass is valid for travel will change when the Hokkaido Shinkansen (between Shin-Aomori and Shin-Hakodate-Hoku- to) starts service on March 26, 2016. Your pass is valid for travel on the newly opened Hokkaido Shinkansen (between Shin-Aomori and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto).However, the pass is not valid for travel in Gran Class cars.The pass for use of ordinary cars is valid only for travel in ordinary cars. *The pass is valid only for travel on Shinkansen service and on routes indicated by solid lines in the figure above. Note 1 : Your pass is not valid for travel on routes indicated by broken lines in the above figure. Travel on those routes is subject to separate fares. Note 2 : Services for the following limited express and express trains will end as a result of the opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen. To cease operating: • “Hakucho” and “Super Hakucho” (between Shin-Aomori/Aomori and Hakodate) • “Hamanasu” (between Aomori and Sapporo) *There will be no route changes other than those indicated above. 【Notes】 • Even if you purchased your pass on or before March 25 (by purchasing an MCO and exchanging it for a pass in Japan), it will be treated as described above starting March 26. • The start of Hokkaido Shinkansen service will not result in the collection of additional fares or fees. Additionally, pass holders will not be eligible to receive fare or fee refunds, or have the validity period extended, as a result of their inability to use JR lines between Kikonai and Goryōkaku, the operation of which will be transferred to South Hokkaido Railway Company. • Use of South Hokkaido Railway Line is subject to separate fares.
