HIP-HOP BAND COMING TO MYSTIC LAKE JUNE 30

PRIOR LAKE, Minn. – March 18, 2019 – The Roots are bringing their style and eclectic approach to hip-hop to the Mystic Showroom on Sunday, June 30, at 8 p.m. The American hip- hop band is known for their artistic use of live instruments and creative renditions of pop hits.

Co-founded and fronted by rapper (Tariq Trotter) and drummer (Ahmir Thompson), Roots lineup has become one of the best known and most respected hip-hop acts in the business, winning four Grammys over the course of the group’s career. They currently serve as the official on “ Starring .”

ABOUT THE ROOTS American hip-hop band The Roots was formed in 1987 by Tariq Trotter (Black Thought) and Ahmir Thompson (Questlove) in . The Roots have been nominated for 12 Grammys and have won four, including Best R&B Album for Wake Up!, Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance for "Hang On In There" (with ) and Best Group or Duo R&B Vocal Performance for "Shine." Additionally, The , a yearly music festival with a star- studded mix of musicians, has become a celebrated institution. The Roots were named one of the greatest live bands by and serve as the official house band on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Most recently, The Roots announced that they are developing an animated children's series, along with a live action children's series, in partnership with Amazon.
