Tata Network Forums Global updates November 2017 S Padmanabhan Group CHRO, Tata Sons From the Desk of the Group CHRO, Tata Sons These are exciting times for the Tata group. Companies are increasingly coming together to leverage the Tata ecosystem to learn from each other, and deal with common issues. Tata Network Forums (TNFs) are increasingly playing an important role in enabling companies to come together and seek solutions to common issues. A case in point was the TNF MENA meeting which took place to address the diplomatic situation in the Gulf, when Arab nations cut off ties with Qatar. Tata companies came together at Dubai using the TNF MENA to understand the impact on their businesses and plan for mitigation measures. In the past six months, TNFs also enabled companies to seek knowledge and share best practices in various areas like Customer, HR, Ethics, Business Excellence, Digitisation, Communications, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability. I must mention that the Tata Sustainability Group is increasingly utilising the TNF forum to spread its messages through the Tata Sustainability month celebrations and other workshops. Sustainability events featured in most TNFs across the world in the past two quarters. All these TNF events brought together many more Tata employees during these past few months, which is proof of the growing popularity of the TNFs. The reach and impact of TNF activities is gradually building, and I am sure that it will achieve greater heights in the coming times. As the Tata group celebrates its one-ness, TNFs will be able to connect many more employees and enable the proliferation of knowledge and best practices.

  • The Gateway Hotel Caters to a Pan-India Network of Hotels and Resorts Offering All the Key Services at Competitive Prices
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Differentiation is essential, as the presence of a variety of Hotel brands in India is limited, whereas consumer choices and patterns show a need for more brands. Taking this into account as well as branding a strategy of not wanting an omnibus known as Taj defining all its properties the company has rebranded its properties into Taj, Vivanta by Taj, The Gateway and Ginger. Gateway is positioned above the economy brand Ginger but placed below the Residency and the Taj brands. The Gateway Hotel caters to a pan-India network of hotels and resorts offering all the key services at competitive prices. The pricing starts from Rs 3,000 and to over Rs 6,000 depending on the location. The company plans to invest aggressively to promote the brand through owned and managed properties. The Gateway Hotels are to be set up in each of the country’s business districts and leisure locations, catering primarily to the contemporary traveller. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM The world has changed drastically over past one year and so has business and its trends. With the global melt down of the economy and its impact most of the corporate have resorted to drastic cost cutting measures. The effect is contagious- the meltdown is getting transmitted throughout the industries. Due to this The Gateway Hotel is experiencing a slowdown in its banquet sales. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY ➢ To understand the effectiveness of the standard operating procedures of banquet sales department and determine the gaps that occur during implementation. ➢ To understand a corporate clients preferences while choosing a particular banquet facility ➢ To determine their perception of The Gateway Hotel’s banquet facilities and recommendways to make The Gateway Hotel a preferred banquet destination for the corporate customer.

Tata Network Forums Global updates October 2016 S Padmanabhan, Executive Chairman, Tata Business Excellence Group From the Desk of the Executive Chairman, TBExG Tata Network Forums (TNFs) are a critical institution in bringing together a group as diverse as the Tatas. The role of TNFs is especially important in advancing the Tata group’s business excellence journey. Tata companies continue to leverage TNFs for Heads of Companies meetings to discuss matters of importance for companies in their geographies. In addition to the networking opportunities, TNFs bring together different companies in regions across the world to learn, share and discuss on topics that are relevant to all of them. During the past nine months, companies in all the ten TNFs actively engaged with each other. During this period, TNFs around the world continued to support the quest of innovation within the group, facilitating the regional rounds of Tata InnoVista, from which the winners went on to the finals in Mumbai. The Tata Young Expressions award functions were also celebrated along with these sessions. An important agenda for all the TNFs remained the sharing of best practices from companies in the same regions. Various best practice sharing sessions, workshops and meetings were held in TNFs, enabling companies to take advantage of the plethora of practices that are residing within the Tata group. These sessions included themes like HR, Sustainability, Safety, Strategy and Affirmative Action, all areas that are important from the group perspective. I must mention that the Safety training sessions for women that have taken place in various geographies through the TNFs have received an overwhelming response within the group.
