Marco Simoncelli and Alvaro Bautista have been the most consistent finishers in the MotoGP 250cc category, each scoring in 13 of the 15 races this year and are first and second in the riders' standings with one race remaining, in Valencia at the end of October. With his third place finish in Malaysia mid-October, seconds behind Bautista at the chequered flag, it was Simoncelli who was crowned the 2008 250cc champion and the Italian celebrated by completing a helmet-less victory lap around the track. Simoncelli has scored five wins to Bautista's four so far this year, but the Italian has consistently finished on the podium. International Toast Tonight’s international toast, presented by PHF and Sergeant, Bill Dickie, is to the Rotary Club of Cork, Ireland in Rotary district 1160 which has 75 clubs and 2273 members. The Club received its charter on 26 August 1926 and has 24 members who meet at 6:00pm each Monday at the Gresham Metropole Hotel. For further details, please refer to Bill’s presentation as attached. Thank you Bill. General Business Due to the absence of President Peter Keith who unfortunately was unable to attend due to farming duties, the meeting was ably chaired by PP Greg Madden. Greg, as acting chairman, inducted into the Club, Associate Member Richard Siede, with Richard being introduced by PP Robin Price. Richard was presented with his member badge and was given a warm welcome by all at the meeting. Directors’ Reports – Graeme Bright advised a new Interact/breakfast club at Kelso High has started with the first breakfast being held next Monday.
