Matters from Race 27: Race Director Incident Determinations There were no determinations. Stewards’ Decisions – Penalties imposed The Stewards imposed a 15 second Time Penalty on Car #97, Shane van Gisbergen, for a breach of Article 2.1.1 of Schedule B2 (Careless Driving) following an Incident at Turn 17 on Lap 1 when Car #97 turned-in on Car #7, Andre Heimgartner, causing car #7 to spin and lose positions. Cars following attempted to avoid contact with Car #7 which resulted in Incidents involving multiple Cars. Cars #44, James Courtney, and #18, Mark Winterbottom, sustained damage and were unable to continue in the Race. No Driver was wholly or predominantly to blame for the Incidents which followed the contact between Cars #97 and #7. These subsequent Incidents were not a direct or foreseeable consequence of the Driver of Car #97’s breach. Following an Incident at Turn 6 on Lap 2 involving contact between Car #2, Bryce Fullwood, and Car #34, Zane Goddard, which caused Car #34 to lose positions, the Stewards imposed a 15 second Time Penalty on Car #2 for a breach of Article 2.1.1 of Schedule B2 (Careless Driving). Stewards’ Decisions – Penalties imposed The Stewards imposed a 15 second Time Penalty on Car #88, Jamie Whincup, for a breach of Article 2.1.1 of Schedule B2 (Careless Driving) following an Incident at Turn 17 on Lap 1 when Car #88 made contact with Car #17, Scott McLaughlin, causing car #17 to spin and lose positions. The Stewards determined that the collision was the consequence of the Driver of Car #88 not having complete control of his Car on the entry to Turn 17. The Stewards imposed a 15 second Time Penalty on Car #17, Scott McLaughlin, for a breach of Article 2.1.1 of Schedule B2 (Careless Driving) following an Incident at Turn 14 on Lap 22 when Car #17 made contact with Car #5, Lee Holdsworth, causing Car #5 to spin and lose positions. Having consulted the DSA, the Stewards determined that the Driver of Car #5 had left sufficient racing room for Car #17 and the steering angle on Car #17 demonstrated the collision was the consequence of the Driver of Car #17 not having complete control of his Car on the entry to Turn 14. Following the Race the DSA and RD completed an investigation, by reference to judicial camera footage from Car #19, Alex Davison, and broadcast footage, into an Incident on Lap 9 when Car #19 and Car #3, Macauley Jones, collided at Turn 14 as a result of which Car #3 spun and lost positions. The Driver of Car #19 admitted to a breach of Article 2.1.1 of Schedule B2 and the Stewards imposed a 15 second post-Race Time Penalty on Car #19 to be added to Car #19’s Race time in Race 25. At the request of WAU Racing the RD and DSA conducted a post-Race investigation into an alleged Incident at Turn 13 on Lap 24 involving Cars #25, Chaz Mostert, and #44, James Courtney. Judicial camera footage from Car #44 was reviewed which revealed contact with the rear of Car #25 which resulted in Car #25 being pushed off the circuit at Turn 13. The Driver of Car #44 admitted to a breach of Article 2.1.1 of Schedule B2 and the Stewards imposed a 5 second post-Race Time Penalty on Car #44 to be added to Car #44’s Race time in Race 25. Matters from Qualifying for Race 25 (including TFSO): Race Director Incident Determinations There were no determinations. Stewards’ Decisions – Penalties imposed The Stewards imposed a Fine of $350 on the Driver of Car #22, Chris Pither, for a breach of Rule D11.4.2 (Exceeding Pit Lane speed limit) after the Chief Timekeeper and Supercars Technical confirmed that Car #22 was recorded at the Pit Entry timing loops as entering Pit Lane at 46kph.
