Matters from Race 6:

Deputy Race Director Incident Determinations

The DRD conducted post-Race investigations into the following matters:

- In response to a request received from Racing Pty Ltd, an Incident at the exit of Turn 14 on Lap 3 when after contact with the rear of Car #21, , by Car #3, Garry Jacobsen, Car #21 collided with the wall causing the Safety Car to be deployed. After a review of Broadcast and Judicial Camera footage from Cars #3 and #21, and having consulted the DSA, the DRD determined that no Driver was wholly or predominantly to blame for the Incident;

- In response to a request received from WAU Racing Pty Ltd alleging that Car #14, , made contact with Car #22, , at Turn 1 on Lap 1 of the Race. The DRD reviewed Judicial Camera footage from Cars #14 and #22 and determined that the matter did not warrant referral to the Stewards.

Stewards’ Decisions – Penalties imposed

The Stewards imposed the following Penalties during Race 6:

- A 15 second Time Penalty on Car #97, , for a breach of Article 2.1.1 of Schedule B2 (Careless Driving) in connection with an Incident at Turn 9 on Lap 2 when Car #97 made contact with Car #12, , causing Car #12 to leave the Race circuit and lose multiple positions;

- A 5 second Time Penalty on Car #78, Simona de Silvestro, for a breach of Article 2.1.1 of Schedule B2 (Careless Driving) in connection with an Incident at Turn 16 on the Final Lap when Car #97 made contact with Car #34, James Golding, pushing Car #34 off the Race circuit.

The Stewards having received a report from the Head of Motorsport that Car #15 was discovered in Parc Ferme not to have had a Judicial Camera card installed in breach of Rule D20.3, and Motorsport Holdings Pty Ltd admitting to the breach, the Stewards imposed a Penalty of the Loss of 50 2019 VASC Teams Championship Points on Motorsport Holdings Pty Ltd.

The DRD conducted a post-Race investigation into an Incident which occurred at Turn 5 on the Reconnaissance Lap for Race 5 when Car #6, Cam Waters, and Car #17, Scott McLaughlin, made contact as a result of which both Cars sustained damage, returned to Pit Lane and did not start Race 5. Following a review of the Judicial Camera footage from Cars #6, #12 and #17 and having heard from the Drivers of both Cars and considering the evidence of the DSA, no Driver was found to have been wholly or predominantly to blame for the Incident.

Matters from Race 5:

Deputy Race Director Incident Determinations

The DRD conducted the following post-Race investigations:

- In response to a request received from Racing Team (Aust) Pty ltd alleging that Car #55, , exceeded track limits and gained an advantage at Turn 4 on Lap 1. Following a review of the Television Broadcast footage and Judicial Camera footage from Car #12 and #55, as well as hearing the evidence of the Driving Standards Advisor, no breach of Rules was observed;

- In response to a request received from alleging that Car #5 made contact with Car #33 at Turn 13 on Lap 1. Following a review of the Judicial Camera footage from Car #5 and hearing the evidence of the Driving Standards Advisor, no breach of the Rules was observed.

Stewards’ Decisions – Penalties imposed

The Stewards imposed a post-Race 5 second Time Penalty on Car #23, , to be added to Car #23’s race time in Race 5 for a breach of Article 2.1.1 of Schedule B2 (Careless Driving) for failing to leave racing room for Car #34 at Turn 3 on Lap 3, the DRD having reviewed Judicial Camera footage of the Incident from Cars #7, #23, #34 and #99 and the Driver of Car #23 having admitted the breach.

The Stewards imposed a Fine of $5,000 and Loss of 30 Teams Championship Points on Triple Eight Race (Engineering) Pty Ltd for a breach of Rule A4.4 (Safety) in connection with an Incident during Race 5 when a wheel from Car #97 departed Car #97 when Car #97 was on circuit.

On Sunday 17 March 2019 the Stewards, having summonsed the Authorised Representatives and Drivers of Car #33, , and Car #5, , conducted a Hearing to consider a Charge of a breach of Article 2.1.3 of Schedule B2 Code of Driving Conduct (Dangerous Driving) by the Driver of Car #33 in Race 5 involving contact with Car #5 at Turns 4 and 5 on Lap 3. The Stewards found the breach established and imposed the following Penalty:

1. Car #33 is Disqualified from Race 5; 2. Car #33 is Relegated to start Race 6 from Pit Lane; 3. A Fine of $10,000 is imposed on the Driver of Car #33, of which $5,000 is suspended until 31 December 2019. The suspension is to be revoked in the event that the Driver of Car #33 commits any further breach of Article 2.1.3 of Schedule B2 prior to 31 December 2019.

Matters from Race 4:

Deputy Race Director Incident Determinations

The DRD conducted a Post-Race investigation into a suspected breach of Article 3.12.1 of Schedule B2 (a Driver must not consistently cut corners by driving over the inside of kerbs or off the Race Track surface) by the Driver of Car #35, , which had been observed to have twice short-cutted the circuit at Turn 12 by driving inside the apex kerb. After a review of Judicial Camera footage from Car #35 and Car #7 and an interview of the Driver of Car #35 who explained that he was struggling to control his Car due to damage sustained in an earlier Incident, the DRD determined that the matter did not warrant referral to the Stewards.

Stewards’ Decisions – Penalties imposed

The Stewards imposed a 5 second Time Penalty on Car #34, James Golding, for a breach of Article 2.1 of Schedule B2 (Careless Driving) for an Incident at the end of lap 1 at the exit of Turn 16 when Car #34 moved significantly to the right of the Track to block Car #7, .

Following a Post-Race investigation by the DRD and after an admission by the Driver of Car #33, Richie Stanaway, the Stewards imposed a 5 second Post-Race Time Penalty on Car #33 for a breach of Article 2.1 of Schedule B2 (Careless Driving) for contact with Car #5, Lee Holdsworth, at Turn 6 on Lap 2 as a result of which Car #5 was pushed off the Race Track surface and lost positions.

Matters from Race 3:

Deputy Race Director Incident Determinations

During the Race the DRD investigated an Incident at Turn 15 on Lap 18 when Car #8, , made contact with Car #2, , as a result of which Car #8 ended up on the outside of the exit of Turn 15 and lost a position to Car #2. The DRD determined that the matter did not warrant referral to the Stewards because Car #8 had not left racing room for Car #2.

Stewards’ Decisions – Penalties imposed

The Stewards imposed a Penalty of the Loss of 30 Teams Championship Points and a Fine of $3,000 on WAU Racing Pty Ltd for a breach of Rule D11.7.2 (Failed to ensure all parts and equipment were under the complete control of the Designated Pit Crew during any Pit Stop) after broadcast footage revealed that a wheel from Car #2, Scott Pye, bounced into the path of Car #8, Nick Percat, during Car #2’s Pit Stop on Lap 10 of the Race.

Following a review by the DRD of the Judicial Camera Footage from Car #34 and an admission by the Team of Car #15, , to a breach of Schedule B2 Article 7 (Car released from its Pit Bay failed to give way to a Car already wholly in the fast lane), the Stewards imposed a Post- Race Pit Lane Penalty (43 Seconds) to be added to the Race Time of Car #15 in Race 3.
