Saturday 2 March 2019 Matters from Practice 4: Deputy Race Director Incident Determinations There were no DRD determinations. Stewards’ Decisions – Penalties imposed There were no penalties issued. Matters from Top 10 Shootout for Race 1: Deputy Race Director Incident Determinations There were no DRD determinations. Stewards’ Decisions – Penalties imposed There were no penalties issued. Matters from Race 1: Deputy Race Director Incident Determinations Following an Incident at Turn 7 on Lap 25 when Car #2, Scott Pye, collided with Car #5, Lee Holdsworth, which was stopped at the exit of Turn 7 after Car #5 had collided with the tyre barrier and was partially blocking the Circuit, the DRD conducted an investigation to determine if Car #2 had breached Article 4.2 of Schedule B3 (failed to obey Yellow Flags which were displayed at the entry to Turn 7 due to Car #5’s position). After reviewing Judicial Camera footage from Car #2 (and from Car #22, which was immediately behind Car #2 at the entry to Turn 7), and Hawk Eye footage, the DRD determined that no breach of the Rules was established. Stewards’ Decisions – Penalties imposed The Stewards imposed a 10 second Time Penalty on Car #12, Fabian Coulthard, for a false start in breach of Rule D8.1.6.2. Following a request for investigation from Shell V-Power Racing Team into an allegation that Car #88, Jamie Whincup, had also breached Rule D8.1.6.2, the Stewards reviewed Hawk Eye footage of the Race start which revealed that although Car #88 had moved from its original position before the starting signal was given, it was stationary and correctly aligned at the time the start signal was given. P a g e | 1 INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY – NO REGULATORY VALUE STEWARDS SUMMARY OF JUDICIAL OUTCOMES The Stewards imposed a Penalty of Loss of 30 Team Championship Points and a Fine of $3,000 on Matt Stone Racing for a breach of Rule D11.7.4 after broadcast footage showed the wheels of Car #35 rolled over an incompressible jack which had been placed under Car #35 during a Pit Stop. Matters from Practice 3: Deputy Race Director Incident Determinations There were no DRD determinations. Stewards’ Decisions – Penalties imposed There were no penalties issued. Matters from Qualifying for Race 1: Deputy Race Director Incident Determinations Following the Session the DRD received a request for investigation from Triple Eight Race Engineering (Australia) Pty Ltd alleging that Car #55, Chaz Mostert, and Car #78, Simona de Silvestro, impeded Car #97, Shane van Gisbergen, between Turns 11 and 14 . Following a review of Judicial Camera Footage from Car #97, no Breach of Rules was observed. Following the Session the DRD conducted an investigation at the request of Chasports Racing Pty Ltd into an allegation that Car #3, Garry Jacobsen, impeded Car #18, Mark Winterbottom, on entry to Turn 1. The DRD was also requested to investigate Car #18’s ‘kerb strike’ and loss of time on the relevant Lap. Following a review of Judicial Camera Footage from Car #18, no Breach of Rules by Car #3 was observed. Following a review of external (HawkEye) vision to corroborate the Supercars Timing System, Car #18 was found to have breached Schedule B2 Article 3.3.1 (left the Race Track at Turn 2 by reason that no part of the Car remains in contact with it). Stewards’ Decisions – Penalties imposed There were no penalties issued. During the Session Car #99, Anton de Pasquale, caused a Red Flag after colliding with the wall at the exit of Turn 8. In accordance with Rule D6.1.11, Car #99’s fastest lap was deleted and it was not permitted to take any further part in the Session. As Car #99 failed to set a qualifying time, the Stewards have granted permission for Car #99 to start Race 1 from the rear of the grid.
