1911 Pitcherhouse – Part 2

This is one of the larger Kipling family groups with 32 households in 1911. They are the descendants of John Kipling, born in 1723 at Pitcherhouse farm, Baldersdale.

John Kipling (1723) had sons William (1747), John (1750) and Tobias (1755). This note covers the descendants of John and Tobias. Those of William are covered in Part 1.

By 1851, only youngest son Charles was still at home.

He probably married Jane Ann Allinson in September 1891 (although describing his father as a farmer seems to have been an exaggeration).

Witton le Wear.1901

Son Thomas William was born in 1890, before his parents married. It was he who registered his father’s death. In 1911, the family was at Butterknowle again (#24)

Jane Ann died in 1935, Sydney Wilfred in 1947 and both Thomas William and John James in 1969. Winnifred Maud married William Nodding in 1929.
