30 Killer Halloween Party - a course from spookylittlehalloween.com RESOURCES

Need help finding ideas for the MANY things we’ve talked about? Not to worry – after nearly a decade of planning my own party, I’m a wealth of knowledge! In this section you’ve find my favorite places to buy items for a Halloween party, ideas I’ve already collected for you so you don’t have to do the hard work, and, of course, how I save money on all these items each Halloween season.

COSTUMES I’m always looking for good costume ideas – especially for homemade or creative costumes. Check out a few of my own on the blog: http://spookylittlehalloween.com/category/halloween-costume-ideas/

And, of course, I’ve got a Pinterest board for that: https://www.pinterest.com/spkyhalloween/halloween-costume-ideas/

DECOR I rarely buy theme-specific items. Instead, I prefer to hunt for décor that I 100% LOVE and know I can repurpose for years. Here are a few of my favorite places to shop: • Dollar stores • Etsy • HomeGoods/TJ Maxx/Marshall’s • JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores • Michaels • Target • Zulily

Be sure to read the saving money section for details on how you can save at nearly all these locations!

PARTY IDEAS SpookyLittleHalloween.com has great party ideas under my Killer Parties category, and I’m always adding more: http://spookylittlehalloween.com/category/halloween-party-ideas/

I also love searching for party ideas on Pinterest, whether I’m looking for overall theme ideas or simply how to add to my own theme. Check out my Halloween Party Ideas board for more: https://www.pinterest.com/spkyhalloween/halloween-party-ideas/

I also have a full playlist section on SpookyLittleHalloween.com: http://spookylittlehalloween. com/category/halloween-playlists/

If you’re looking for a killer Halloween radio station, you need to check out Dead Air! Last year it’s owner expanded it from an October-only feature on his online radio station to a full-fledged year-round station. I listen to it constantly: http://deadair.co (Not a typo - there is no m in the URL)

PRIZES FOR CONTESTS I love putting together contest prizes each year. I give out first, second and third place awards in my theme and general costume contests. Last year I added a culinary contest with first, second and third place prizes, and it went over incredibly well so it’s sticking around.

I do have a small budget for contest prizes, so my trick is to look for lots of small, relatively inexpensive items I can pile up in a giveaway. Don’t forget you can buy a multi-pack of something and break it down for prizes too.

Here are my favorite places to hunt for prizes: • Amazon: This is a great resource if you want to give away DVDs! Many are available for $5 or less. • Target Dollar Spot: I am always finding fun goodies here to include in my prizes. • Dollar stores: You can find lots of fun things that look expensive, like kitchenware or glasses, without spending a fortune. Be picky, though. Some items just look cheap.

SAVING MONEY I saved the best for last! I hate paying full price for anything – not because I’m a cheapskate but because I know there’s a deal or discount code out there somewhere. Here are some of my favorite ways to save money.

RetailMeNot.com This is by far my favorite online resource! Just head to the site, type in the store name and you’ll find every offer or discount code currently available. Sometimes they’re outdated, but 95% of the time I find a way to save 10% or more on an online purchase. Bookmark it now! Killer Halloween Party - a course from spookylittlehalloween.com 33 Email Lists You know those annoying pop-ups on retailer websites you usually ignore? Pay attention to them! A lot of them offer 10-15% off a purchase when you join their email list. Don’t see one? Look at the header or footer of the website for a sign-up link to see if there might be a discount offer.

Store Apps I never pay full price for anything I buy at Michaels, JoAnn’s or Hobby Lobby – especially during Halloween season. I have all three store apps on my phone and am constantly scanning them for discounts on my full purchase. I can usually score 30-40% off!

Shopkick* I have this app on my phone, and when I walk into a store I pull it out to see if they participate in Shopkick. Basically, the app gives you a list of items, and you scan the barcodes to earn points. Then you can redeem those points for gift cards! I use mine to earn Target gift cards, and it scored me free Halloween décor last year.

Survey Websites* When I have a few minutes during my day, I pop on to My Survey and Global Test Market where I complete consumer research surveys. Each one earns me points which I can then redeem for gift cards. Last year, I had $50 Amazon gift cards and bought all my costume contest prizes!
