PRESIDENTS REPORT 2014/2015 As I come to the end of my tenure as President of the Club, I would like to thank all past and present fellow committee members for their support and efforts in running the Club the 8 seasons I have been involved. I would especially like to thank the current committee members and also welcome the new members, namely, Jodie Pryor, Matt Collins, Bob Peach, Sonia Hardie, Matt Christison, Evan Watson and Steve Stacey. Please join me in welcoming them to the committee and thank them for their efforts. I would like to thank the Coaches, Managers, Scorers and supporters of all of our junior teams for helping create lifetime memories for our boys and girls, and also our senior team’s supporters that ensure our seniors are able to get onto the park each week. Congratulations to the 14 B and 10 C junior teams on being our Premiership winners for season 2014/15. A special mention also to the 12 E junior team, and the B3 senior team for reaching the finals. Our girl cricketers continue to succeed with many of the girls competing in the Brewer Shield and in contention for State Academy selection. Season 2014/15 will be long remembered amongst the cricket community for the tragic death of Phillip Hughes, and the outpour of emotion across the entire community. It affected many people in many people ways. I am sure the minute silence and the cricket bats on the front porch will be actions that will remain in the memories of ours and many young cricketers for the rest of their lives. The subsequent Tests showed what team spirit and mateship is all about, and I hope our boys and girls will also take their own good memories from this season and store them away for years to come A highlight for the Club was having its first junior player selected as our Test Captain. Steve Smith was elected as the 45th Captain of the Australian Cricket team. Congratulations to Steve and we wish him all the best in the years to come. He will be regarded as the benchmark of any junior cricketer across the shire aspiring to represent his/her country. Congratulations to our Junior and Senior cricketers that will be named later in the presentation and also to all those players selected to play representative cricket this season. The Club continues to evolve as the demographics of the area continue to change and we should all be excited about some of the initiatives being introduced into the Club next season, and I encourage anyone that is able to come along to the AGM this coming Tuesday 27th of May at Club Central and to get involved in the Club in any capacity you can. I wish everyone a great off season and look forward to the coming years.

Thanks Gary Fattore President 2014/15

8 Green Team Report

What a fantastic season 8 Green had. Considering the majority of players had never stepped onto hallowed turf to deliver a ball in anger or wield the willow, our team of stars performed brilliantly. The secret to our success was having fun, and everyone participating each week. We certainly hope that the team take from this a great experience, and made friendships that will last a lifetime. There were many brilliant performances over the year - too many to mention individuals, but congratulations go to a small group of well behaved and keen cricketers who have been a pleasure to coach and manage. Griffin Robinson Griffin started the season not knowing how to bowl and finished it being a fantastic accurate bowler. His potential with the bat is coming along, along with his fielding. Griffin also became a fantastic wicketkeeper, and showed great poise when called upon to perform in that role. Well done Griffin! Conor Kremmer 8 Conor is a naturally gifted player, shown by his ability to score runs quickly if required, and bowls with a lovely outswinger that will trouble many a batsman in the future. His fielding was exemplary and has a good eye for a run out as well as a safe pair of hands. Conor, with practice will develop into a fantastic cricketer of the future. Hassan Kiyani Hassan the quiet achiever. Hassan has the ability on his day to scare the best of batsmen with his bowling, and when he got his direction right, there were rarely runs scored of him. Hassan had a great arm in the field, a pair of safe hands and is a competent batsman who always tried his best to keep the runs ticking over. Bailey Parker Well, what a season it was for Bailey. Mr natural of the team, I have never seen an 8 yr old with the talent that Bailey has. His bowling improved throughout the season so much that the last game of the season he was completely unplayable and bowling some serious heat! Batting wise, bailey scored many runs, but must learn that not every ball can be hit for 4 and to be more patient when looking to hit quick runs. In the field, Bailey has a great set of hands and ran out many a batsman with his great arm. Congratulations Bailey! Kelan Skinner Kelan started the season never having played cricket before. His batting was always safe, rarely getting out, and his running between the wickets became better as the year progressed. Kelan's accuracy in his bowling developed throughout the season, and will continue to improve with practice. In the field, Kelan could go missing at times when boredom got the better of him, but when called on made some pleasing run outs throughout the year.

Ethan Hider Ethan has the ability to become a fantastic cricket player in the future. His batting and running between the wickets was crazy (especially with Kelan in the last game!) Ethan's bowling was either on or off, but when he was on - he was completely unplayable. (Mental note Ethan bowl over the !) A left armer with the ability to swing the ball both ways, Ethan has a great future with the ball. In the field Ethan was safe and made some good catches and run outs throughout the year. Gabriella Di Cello What a pleasure it was to have Gabi in our side. Gabi has a great technique for both batting and bowling. Gabi's bowling will improve with her strength, as she has the concept perfect. With the bat Gabi has a stoic defence that could not be broken. In the field, Gabi was exceptional, and chased down balls in the field with gusto. Graeme Butcher If being excited to go to cricket had an award, Graeme would win hands down! We are so proud of the way "Little Graeme" went about his business. Another one of our great defenders with the bat, with confidence and strength Graeme will mature into a fine batsman. Graeme's bowling is also coming along quite well, and I am sure that next year he will be a force to be reckoned with. In the field, Graeme was inspirational. Well Done Graeme! Jake Robertson Jake joined the team at a crucial time during the season, and had limited opportunity to show his wares. Another one of our great defenders with the bat, Jake rarely let the opposition bowlers get the better of him and will be hopefully ready and raring to go with this year's experience under his belt. With the ball, Jake is coming along well and without doubt will develop into a fine bowler. Jake made some great saves in the field and always put in 100%.

None of this could happen without parents, grandparents or friends supporting the kids and driving them around. A big thank you to Justin for both managing the team and scoring the majority of the game with other’s stepping in as required. Thanks to Dean for coaching at the start and then Bruce for finishing off the season. A great 2014 and lets all work to keep out kids active in a great team sport. Bruce & Justin

8 Gold Team Report For all of the boys in the under 8 Gold, the 2014-15 season was their first season of cricket and given their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn the game throughout the season it won’t be their last. It’s fair to say the boys always played the game with a fun positive mindset and quickly built a team bond and made friendships. The season itself produced many highlights for all of us. A big congratulations to a young group of boys who have been a pleasure to coach.

Lachlan Brook Lachlan showed us all early in the season his ability to bowl accurately on the stumps and take wickets regularly. He often was called on to bowl and didn’t let the team down. Lachlan’s batting got better with each game and always did his best to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Lachlan’s fielding resulted in many saves and quick throw returns to the wicket keeper. Joseph Cama It was clear to us all when Joseph got a bat in his hand he meant business. His ability to hit the ball hard and score quickly was a joy to watch and his running between the wickets improved each game. A handy wicket keeper and a bowler with the potential to bowl fast who always gave one hundred percent. Whilst Joseph had limited opportunities during the season we always cherished his involvement in the team. Vir Jamwal Vir demonstrated to us all his ability to bat with a great technique and rotate the strike. A very good runner between the wickets who developed into a fine young batsman with the ability to hit the ball hard and into the gaps. Vir’s commitment in the field was exceptional which resulted in many run outs and some good glove work behind the stumps. Vir’s bowling is also coming along well too. Stefan Kotevski Stefan showed us throughout the season that with a positive attitude and a keenness to learn you can develop your game very quickly. Stefan’s batting developed nicely and always gave his best to score runs or defend. Stefan’s bowling improved as the season progressed as well as his accuracy. A keen fielder who always loves a chat in the field. Hayden Mewburn An incredible season from Hayden, his natural ability really shone through with his fast right arm over the wicket gentle outswinger that troubled the best of batsmen. Hayden’s batting was a joy to watch, he prided himself on scoring lots of runs and rarely getting out. Hayden’s natural ability was also clear in the field where he ran out numerous batsmen. Hayden has a very bright future ahead. Well done Hayden!!

Lucas Petkovski What a pleasure it was to coach Lucas and watch his game develop during the season. A quick learner who always listens and gives his best. His batting technique improved remarkably during the season. Lucas showed to us that his bowling was improving as the season progressed often restricting the batsmen from scoring. A great fielder who chased the ball always. Marko Petkovski Marko started the season in fine form with the bat often scoring quick runs for the team. A handy bowler who on his day troubled the best batsmen with his accurate stump to stump bowling resulting in wickets. Marko always showed a keenness to put on the gloves when it came to fielding and became a handy wicketkeeper for the team.

No team is complete without the Mums and Dads and families turning up on Saturdays to support the team and assisting at training. Can I say a big thank you to Tony for managing the team throughout the season. Special mention must go to Todd, Neeraj and Johnny for their support with the scoring and getting the boys organised and for creating a fun and positive team environment.

10 C Team Report Wow – what a fantastic season 2014/15 turned out to be! Little did I know that these boys would improve out of sight and become a fantastic team. We started out playing modified cricket for the first round which was fun, but the boys were really excited to get into the second round of the competition where we got to play ‘real’ cricket. All of the boys were happy to share the batting and bowling around so everyone got a fair turn. They really were a delight to coach – all of the parents should be proud of their boys – they were happy to listen, learn and always played the game in the right spirit. Every week the boys competed well – racking up plenty of wins. We led the competition for most of the year and we were really gelling as a team. The boys were putting in some great performances and the likelihood of a grand final appearance was on the cards. After a satisfying win against St Pats in our penultimate game – turning around our only loss of the year in round 1 – we had our ticket into the GF. All roads led to Loftus Oval on the 14th March where we were to come up against Gymea Bay. We lost the toss and we asked to bowl first. We started nervously, with our faster bowlers unable to get a breakthrough.

11 The coach was getting worried. Then all of a sudden we broke through – some great bowling from Lukas, Jake St John and Alexander was complimented with some amazing catching from our main man – Ethan. Jacob was also wicket-keeping beautifully, grabbing a sharp catch. All of a sudden we were back in the game. Gymea’s batsmen continued with some quick singles and after the midway swap-over they had posted a good score. In our favour was that we had picked up 4 wickets. It was now our turn to bat. Jack and Jake St. John had batted well together previously – so they were sent out to start us off. They both batted nicely – picking up runs consistently and got us off to a solid start. Jake was the first to be dismissed – caught on the drive, after belting the previous ball to the boundary. In next was Eden – who had been vaulted up the order to pick up the run rate. Jack and Eden batted really well – not really looking like getting out – although we were behind the required run rate we were looking good now. After our first 17 overs had finished we were 9 runs behind Gymea – but we had only lost 1 wicket. After a BBQ lunch and sugar hit our boys were back in the field – with 18 overs to bowl. Two great catches from Jacob and surprise, surprise Ethan had dismissed Gymea’s best two batsmen. Although they were still scoring quickly – we now had a chance to bowl them out inside their 35 overs. Some more great fielding from John & Jake Gallagher had put the pressure back on the batsmen. Our bowlers were now picking up regular wickets with top bowling from Damon, Callum and Jack we had the 9 out. Just 1 more wicket to get! It took a few overs, but a great run out by Lukas ended the Gymea innings on 85 runs – all out after 30 overs. We were now in the box seat but chasing runs in a grand final is always difficult. Jack was run out in the first over, after a gutsy knock of 15. In next to bat was our high run scorer of the season – Lukas. He hit a few great shots to get our run-rate up but was bowled on 12. Damon strode out to the centre to join Eden, who was batting beautifully at the other end. Together they picked off the bowling, getting us closer and closer to the 86 runs required. A few overs later and we needed just 5 runs off the last 5 overs, surely we could do this. And so it was, with Eden’s 22 not out guiding us past Gymea. We then sent in Jacob and Ethan for a brief bat, followed by Callum and John for an even shorter bat right at the end. After all of the hard work and planning, we had won the grand final – Yay!! Congratulations to all of the boys on the team, it was a truly memorable win. An honourable mention must also go to Thomas and Samuel who were unavailable for the grand final, but were an integral part of the team all season. I would like to thank all of the parents for their commitment in bringing the kids to training sessions and the matches every week. I must also say thanks to the parents who assisted with scoring and to our team manager – Steve Stacy, excellent job mate. It was a great privilege to coach these boys. I really enjoyed it and hope they all come back next summer to do it all again.

12 E Team Report

Well what a great season the boys had. For some the most successful in terms of win/loss and for others their first win/s.At the start of the season the numbers just trickled in, however with some extra recruiting we managed to get a team together. A quick thank you at this point to Allison Watson for her work helping to get the team on the park. The most pleasing aspect of this season was to see the boys improve as a team. Although each player improved during the season at different levels, they all contributed with bat, ball and in the field and the team overall improved each week, with the Final being an indication of that with their outstanding fielding, that gave us a chance. Unfortunately we were just a few runs short on the day. Highlights of the season for each player : Evan – great catch in the final to start our comeback and gave us every chance of a win and his general jovial attitude keeping the team positive Gavin – 2 great pressure catches in the Final in the deep that stopped 2 boundaries and kept us in the hunt, and for being the Coaches Son. Harry – 2 direct hit run outs in the Final from 20 metres, or was it 30, that saw the best team celebration of the year, and his general bowling improvement from day 1. Ishan- his bowling action each week was so sweet it was a joy to watch and as he grows his straight bat will bring plenty of runs, and his quality attitude towards the team. James- Team Captain, and his runs and positive attitude to the team and to the game in general. Was our best player most weeks and his attitude to teamwork ethic is to be commended. It was great to see him marshal the boys around each week. Angus- his 3 x 25 NO retired knocks early in the season which set a platform for the team each week, and his positive attitude to scoring runs, always 1st to training.

Luke – his 3 innings mid season when we stopped scoring runs, Luke was able to graft away and give a total to bowl to, helping get us into the position to make the Final Linten – his 2 x 25 Plus NO innings early in the season that helped get big totals and his wicket taking bowling that improved around the wicket each week. His bowling speed increased each week.

13 Lewis – his highlight was that he was consistent each week, always contributing something with the bat and always bowling a great line and length to take wickets and keep the runs down to a gettable target. Reece – his 2 wickets in the final and his best bowling performance all season, and his overall positive attitude to training and to contributing to the team. His willingness and positive attitude to batting was a pleasure to watch. Damon – was our 11th player for most games and although he could only bowl for 2 games he fielded for us with a great attitude and we thank you very much 10 C- also a thank you to Jacob, Eden, Jack, Jake and Lucas for filling in for us through the season and all were very comfortable and contributed greatly to the team. A big thank you to Sonia for managing and organising the team and the best end of season gig at her home. Thanks to our regular scorers Mark/Sonia and Merrin. Also thanks to Duncan and Bob for their support through the season in Coaching and umpiring the team when I was not available. And finally thanks to the Parents for supporting the boys to train and play each week, if was a pleasure for me, and without your support this does not happen. Look forward to the next season.

Thanks Gary Fattore – Coach

14 B Team Report 14 We had a excellent season with winning 8 games and 2 losses and finishing the season on top of the ladder. We played Miranda 1 in the final. After losing both of the 2 games against them during the season the team had to play their best cricket to beat a strong Miranda side. On the day of the final we won the toss and elected to bat on a sunny day with a slow outfield. After 25 overs we were 1/48 and after some great bowling by us Miranda were 5/33. In our second 25 overs we had to move it along and our boys went chasing quick runs and were bowled out for 96 in the last over. This left Miranda 63 to win with 5 wickets in hand. Again another excellent display of bowling and fielding saw Miranda bowled for 59 in the 35th over. The last wicket saw a huge celebration by the boys as they were now 14 B premiers. Liam Bissett As always Liam was enthusiastic in all aspects of his cricket. Liam batted well when he got a start .He scored a season high of 36 against Caringbah which was part of a good partnership with Jarrod. His bowling improved during the season and bowled some fast spells when his rhythm was right. Best bowling figures were 2/2 against Como in round 10. His fielding and catching was of a high standard taking some good catches in the gully region. Joseph Cowell Joe was a late inclusion in the side as some fast talking from Jarrod convinced him to return. Joe was our “spare parts” man. Could open the batting , keep wickets or send down some handy bowling over’s when required. Was entertaining on the field with a few stories for the boys. With a highest score of 10 no , he also took 3 wickets. And a brilliant run out in the final by throwing down the stumps with a direct hit. Daniel Miletich Daniel was our skipper and led from the front all season with the bat and ball. Not a man of many words, when he did speak the team listened and followed his instructions well. Scored 177 runs , with the highest of 63no on Phillip Hughes round which I’m sure he will remember for a long time . He also took 17 wickets and throw in some excellent fielding and it was a dominant performance. He also took 3 wickets and scored 15 runs in the final. Daniel Milliken Daniel again showed his batting is on the improve, with several long stays at the crease and making it hard for all opposition bowlers to dismiss him. He scored 174 runs with a highest of 65 no in the Phil Hughes round. Bowled some good spells of tight bowling when required, taking 5 wickets during the season. Scored 26 runs and took 2 wickets in the final. He was selected for Gee Shield for Sutherland this season. Jacob Naden Jacob , as he has done for several seasons , has quietly gone about his business of taking wickets. He took 12 wickets and never gave the batsman much to hit. His best figures were 4/18 against Miranda 2 in round 6 . His batting grew in confidence as the season progressed, with the highest score of 17 against Miranda 1 in round 9. Darcy Parnell Darcy grew in confidence with his bowling as the season unfolded. He bowled some quick spells and troubled most batsmen when he got it right. His best performance was in round 3 against Gymea Bay with 2/4 . Had limited opportunities with the bat but was willing to have a crack when required. Darcy missed several games late in the season including the final due to a broken hand. Jared Sparke What can I say about Jarred’s season? Well a fair bit ..He scored 379 runs , with highest score of 116 runs against Como in round 5 . He scored 97 against Caringbah ib round 2 and 61 against Como in round 10. Yes Como where sick of watching Jarrod bat! The smile on his face after reaching 100 was unforgettable. He was also our keeper with 10 catches and 4 stumpings . He was our vice captain and chief talker. In the final he opened the batting and scored 28 runs. Callum Sweet Cal had his usual happy go lucky attitude to his cricket. His bowling was usually very accurate and picked up 7 wickets for the season. He took 2/20 in round 5 against Como and 2/2 against Gymea in round 8. His batting was reliable and with a top score of 8 runs . Callum missed a few games due to injury. But was a very popular member of the team. Thomas Toogood Tom improved his batting and bowling as the season progressed. His batting was solid with a highest score of 23 in round 2 against Caringbah and a good knock of 16 against Miranda 1 in round 9. A little more patience will see him score more runs next season. His bowling was steady using his height t gain good bounce, taking 5 wickets with the best figures being 2/3 against Gymea Bay in round 3 . Daniel Towell Daniel has another good season with the bat and ball .He scored a total of 149 runs for the season. His opening partnership in round 5 of around 140 with Jared , was a good innings in which Daniel scored 60 of those runs. Daniel is becoming a little bit more patient with his batting this season which will help him with bigger scores in the future. He also took 14 wickets bowling with good pace and a very clever slower ball. His best bowling figures were 3 /4 against Miranda 2 in round 1. He took 2 wickets in the final. Joshua Vangi Josh was the quiet achiever of the team. His bowling was always accurate , taking 7 wickets for the season. He especially enjoyed bowling against Como taking 2/9 in round 5 and 2/7 in round 10. He found his batting a little bit harder but played a good innings against Miranda 2 in round 6 where he batted for more than an hour. His fielding and catching was of a high standard all season. He took 1 wicket in the final. Declan Watson 15 Declan had a good season, a little slow to start (some might say it was too much fun in Disneyland!) . His off spin bowling in the second half of the season was of a very high standard, and all batsmen had trouble putting bat on ball. He took 10 wickets with the best of 4/5 against Gymea in round 8 and 3/10 against Como in round 10. His batting was always solid with a good technique and with a few more protein shakes will hit the ball harder next season.

Thanks to Allison for her managerial skills, to everyone else who assisted with scoring duties and setting up the ground it made my job of coaching the boys on game day a lot easier. Thanks to Michael Cowell for scoring in the final and Evan for running the BBQ and after match drinks. It was my pleasure to coach the boys to a premiership as there was a lot of pressure from the manager to finally produce a premiership jacket!! Geoff Milliken

14 C Team Report

A look at this season’s scorecards suggests that the team did it pretty tough: we played ten games, for ten losses. But, that is only part of the story. We were in a couple of games with at least half a chance. Round Six was probably as close as we got. We threw one or two wickets away, when a 50-odd run partnership might just have been enough to post a decent target and cause some real nerves for the opposition. A similar dynamic played itself out in Rounds Seven, Eight, and Nine. That we were even in the hunt was pleasing, given the scale of our losses to the same teams in the first half of the season.

16 It was good to see team morale remain high throughout the season. It was even better to see each player improve his/her skillset as the season progressed. To provide a player-by-player account:

Cameron Adly: a solid first season of cricket. He picked up three wickets in his first game. He got hit in our second game for the biggest six I’ve ever seen, but he continued to bowl them on a pretty good length all season. If only he came over the wicket! He also had a good, safe pair of hands in the field, and kept for us once or twice. Cameron is a handy cricketer – I’d just like to see him work a bit harder on his batting.

Lauren Bissett: displayed a near-perfect temperament throughout the season. She played the shot of the season in our last game, with as good a cover drive as you could hope to see. She has a solid batting technique, and usually spent a fair bit of time in the middle. Lauren never bowled fast, but she had an exaggerated side-on technique which meant she bowled little outswingers, especially when the ball was new and shiny. She was always reliable in the field.

Hayden Bryant: emerged as one of the team’s most dependable bowlers. Hayden ripped his fingers down the back of the seam, and as a result got some bounce that troubled batsmen. With the bat in his hand, Hayden put a price on his wicket. I was hoping to see him score some runs, but illness at the back end of the season robbed Hayden of a couple of games.

Dominic Clement: a solid first season of cricket. He became an increasingly handy bowler, and toward the end of the season landed them on a consistently good length. Dominic’s batting never really inspired much confidence, largely because he himself was convinced – before he got to the middle – that he wasn’t going to last! Dominic also had a nice pair of hands, and took a couple of good catches.

Siobhan Halstead: a true all-rounder. Opposition bowlers rarely looked like getting this young lady out. Her timing was impeccable, and she hit the ball hard. Opposition captains were quick to spread their fields. As a keeper, Siobhan was ever- reliable. With the ball, Siobhan got really nice shape on her outswingers and always looked likely to pick up a wicket or two.

Lauren Jones: held our innings together in the first game of the season, playing with a perfectly straight bat while wickets tumbled all around her. Lauren was also one of our toughest: the comp’s fastest bowler hit her in the stomach in Round 5, but she refused point-blank to retire hurt. Lauren was also a handy bowler, who had the happy knack of getting through her overs quickly. She was also one of our better fielders.

Zac Lim: one of the team’s true all-rounders. He scored a fifty, and picked up a couple of other handy scores along the way. As a bowler, he was our fastest and the comp’s second-fastest. His pace made virtually all batsmen uncomfortable. He made effective use of some short-pitched stuff, but he looked most menacing when he pitched them up. Zac was also the best fielder in the team – he took huge amounts of energy out into the field.

Joe Mauch: one of our better bowlers, whose out-of-the-back-of-the-hand slow ball came straight out of the James Faulkner copy book. Even when he bowled them out of the front of his hand, he used a lot of wrist, which gave him good bounce. He scored some handy runs in the middle of the season, but later decided he would score all his runs by smashing every ball over gully for six – a curious approach that resulted in a string of low scores.

Flynn Mooney: joined the team part-way through the season. Flynn only played two or three games, but he was a real asset. He was a tough little batsman and put a high price on his wicket. As a bowler, he put every ball on a good length. He was also a top- notch fielder. He was a real team player.

Liam Newman: put in his first season of cricket. As a bowler, Liam started landing a few toward the end of the season. He picked up a couple of wickets along the way. As a batsman, he stepped away to the leg-side, which gave the bowlers a big target and made it tough for him to score too many runs. As a fielder, Liam put in 100% effort.

Joshua Stewart: had the ability to challenge Siobhan for the batting awards, but early in the season tried smashing every ball to the boundary and kept getting himself out. Josh managed to harness his aggression and really came into his own in the second half of the season. He was also one of our keepers, and did a good job behind the stumps. As a bowler, Josh had the happy knack of keeping batsman quiet, which meant he picked up wickets cheaply.

Bailey Turner: became one of our go-to fast bowlers, especially in the back-half of the season. Opposition batsman nearly always looked uncomfortable against his pace and his left-handed angles. As a batsman, Bailey managed to stay out in the middle for quite a while on one or two occasions, which was precisely what the team needed. In the field, he looked more like a soccer player than a cricketer. I don’t know how his ankles cope.

16 A Team Report The 16A comp is the pinnacle of the SSJCA competition with an array of some outstanding talent spread across each of the teams involved. It’s one of the strongest and most highly competitive district competitions going round with some extremely talented players taking part. Given this, the season ahead would prove to be a tough one and this would only be exacerbated by the fact that just 4 of the boys were having their second year in the 16’s competition the remaining 8 boys coming up from the 14’s. It was always going to be a challenge but we did manage to achieve some significant milestones throughout the year. Of particular note was our bowling performance in Round 2 to dismiss what was arguably the competitions best batting line-up to their season lowest total of just 144 in just a tick over 50 of the maximum 60 overs allowed. It’s fair to say that inconsistency and a lack of discipline in all aspects of the game let us down at crucial times throughout the year which was both a source of frustration and disappointment because we certainly had the talent to be more competitive than our results would suggest. The was no more evident than the fact that 7 out of the 12 players were chosen by the SSJCA to play in either their Shield or President Cup representative teams! Not such a bad thing really! Not batting out the 60 overs and therefore not giving our impressive bowling attack anything to work with was always going to make it hard for the boys. This only adds extra pressure for the boys to bowl and field well. On a bright note, the hard yards covered this season will only serve to benefit the boys when competing in the 16’s again next time and they definitely now know what it takes to be more competitive. To Brayden, Eddie Jake and Chris who are finishing up their IMCC junior cricket careers, we wish you all the very best for whatever lies ahead for you. We hope that you will continue to play this great game and take with you the lessons learnt from the many enjoyable hours spent chasing leather around the park with your mates! You are great ambassadors not only for the club but also for what this game is all about! Many thanks also to the parents who turned up each week to support the boys, with a special mention going to our scoring volunteers who undertook that task with great gusto!. A special mention also to Paul Casey who helped out with square leg umpiring duties and in the process, got absolutely saturated standing out in the rain on one occasion. Duty above and beyond my friend! Last but by no means least, a big thank you to Garry once again for all the effort and time volunteered each week to enable the boys to continue to learn and develop their skills playing this marvellous game! Eddie BLAKE Eddie had an excellent year with the ball in hand with a season high total of 8 wickets @ an average of 29.25. Generating some good pace and movement off the seam, this always kept the batsmen on their toes. He made some very entertaining cameo appearances with the bat lower down the order and you were never left in any doubt as to what his intentions were when he took to the crease. A season high score of 15 being his best return. Tim BRANDT Another great all round effort from Tim again this year despite injury and a limited amount of opportunity with the ball. When he did however, his tight line and length bowling was always difficult for batsmen to get away

18 and averaging a little over 4 an over in a quality competition is something you can hang your hat on Timmy! Took the gloves on the odd occasion during the season and always gave the team 110% effort wether behind the stumps or out in the field.

Declan CASEY (SSJCA Weblin Shield) Injury this year unfortunately plagued Declan and would prove to be the biggest hurdle he had to overcome in enabling him to perform at his best. His early season form however at SSJCA rep trials, in the nets at training and in regular season games, was some of his best and the quickest bowling I have seen in any junior completion. His best bowling performance was coincidently, against the best batting side in the comp where he returned the impressive figures of 8 overs 5 maidens 1/9 from his spell and was unlucky not to pick up a couple of more wickets. I’m sure he will be back bigger and stronger next year! Dylan CASEY (SSJCA U15 Presidents) Dylan continues to go from strength to strength. It’s truly an awesome sight seeing this tall solid left hander steaming in to open the bowling and ripping into the top order bats getting them to duck and weave and play and miss with monotonous regularity! A haul of 7 wickets for the regular season and an 8 wicket return on turf from 6 starts in the rep season at an economy rate of 3.2, is an impressive performance in anyone’s books! Confidence with the bat will give D that little extra edge and will only add to what he brings to any team he plays in! Aaron HADLEY (SSJCA U15 Presidents) Aaron is naturally gifted sportsmen and enjoyed a stand out season in the top grade considering it’s only his second year playing the sport. A deceptively quick change bowler, he snared 7 wickets @ 31.86 in the regular season and had an outstanding return of 6 wickets @ 9.83 with a best performance of 3/5 during the SSJCA rep season. This performance has earmarked Aaron as a cricketer of note and with a little more consistency; he is definitely someone to keep a close eye on in the future. He has exceptional hand eye co-ordination and hits the ball hard when batting but with continued hard work on this area of his game, he will only continue to improve and reap the rewards! Luke HAWKSWORTH (SSJCA Weblin and Bankstown Green Shield) I think if you were to ask Luke he would tell you that he was somewhat disappointed with his first year in the 16’s but I guess that’s what happens when the bar is already set so incredibly high from your previous endeavours. However, with some 606 runs scored at an average of 67.33 with 3 centuries and a high score of 143 not out being the return, I would say that you were being a tad too hard on yourself Lukey! A solid performance behind the stumps as well with 4 catches a couple of stumping’s and a run out to his credit. I know that Luke is working harder than ever on all aspects of his game during this off season which doesn’t bode well for his opponents next year! Brayden HOLDSTOCK (SSJCA U16 Presidents) Playing in his debut season for the Kookaburras after playing the previous years at the Comets. Brayden is a talented individual both on and off the cricket field and he turned out to be an excellent addition to both the team and club. Equally at home with the bat and ball, he had a high score of 45 for the season and snared 7 wickets at 30.43 at a miserly economy rate of just 2.55 runs per over! His fielding was also a highlight of watching him play with some great throwing from the outfield coupled with some excellent catching and ground fielding as well! Another of our representative players he had a great season with the ball there as well with 8 wickets @ 14.75 and a similar economy rate of 2.88. Marvellous stuff Brayden!

Harry KAROOZ-LIPSCOMB (SSJCA U15 Presidents) The smallest player on the team but with a heart as big as a lion, Hazza would head out to open the batting each week against some pretty hostile new ball bowling attacks. His confidence wasn’t dented after taking a nasty blow in the very first game of the season with initial fears that he had broken his wrist! A season high score of 18 and some dogged resistance in the match against Engadine the eventual completion winners, were the highlight of his season. He continues to develop as a wicket keeper with a couple of catches and also as a part time offie chipping in with 5 wickets. Making his representative debut in the Preso’s this year playing on turf for the first time will only serve to improve his performances next season! Chris KRKLINSKI This was Chris’ 9th final season of cricket and he can look back with pride having scored some 615 runs and taken 60 wickets bowling his subtle offies during his time in the junior ranks of the IMCC! A quiet and unassuming player, I’ve particularly enjoyed watching him ply his trade with both the bat and ball during the season. Technic as a batsman has always been one of his strong points and a season high score of a solid 21 was his best return. With limited use of the ball he still managed to finish high up on the order of merit for wickets taken with 5 scalps @ 30.80 and an economy rate of just 3.66. Not too shabby for an off spinner! Jake PINNOCK This was only Jakes second but unfortunately also his last season as a junior with the IMCC having discovered the competitive side of the game somewhat later than normal. A big strong solid lad, he was part of our battery of quick left arm pace bowlers! He generated some exceptional pace and movement off the seam at times from such a short run up and who knows what he could have achieved with a couple more years under his belt. Batting suffice to say wasn’t Jakes strong point but there was no doubting his commitment and entertainment value! When he connected, the ball stayed well and truly hit! Harshal RATANAYAKE A solid all round performance from Harshal again this season with both bat and ball. You could always depend on him to give 110% each game whether it was in the field or with the bat and ball in hand. A great team player and another member of the leftie bowling brigade, he bowled some very tidy spells throughout the season. His effortless run to the crease belied the fact that he could generate some good pace at times and when on song, extracted some great swing as well. An economy rate of 3.43 for the season and a high score of 19 is testament to his all-round value to the team. 19 Luke SAUNDERS (SSJCA Weblin Shield) A senior and integral member of the team with both bat and ball Luke garnered 119 runs for the season with a high score of 30 not out and 4 wickets @ 58.50 with an economy rate of just 3.07 runs per over. Whether taking the new ball or coming on as a change bowler, Luke invariably had the batsmen on the back foot looking bowling with some nice pace and accuracy! Luke could also be relied upon to lead the way in the field showing he had a great pair of hands taking 3 great catches for the season with his ground fielding also being a highlight of his performance. Another to be rewarded for his efforts with a place in the SSJCA Weblin Shield side, Luke is a player of great talent and natural ability and with just a little more application and hard work; he can reach his full potential.

16 C Team Report

What an exciting year we had this year. As the team embarked on round 10, we sat on equal first as we had done most of the year. Not bad for a team that had between 7 -10 players available at any one time. Unfortunately, we lost the last game and were relegated to third place on percentages, missing the finals. We had won seven and lost three games throughout the season. It was a delight to be coach of this team. The most pleasing part was that everyone got along with each other, had a laugh and encouraged each other and enjoyed playing cricket. I quickly learnt that these players had the required self-confidence and belief in themselves to win games of cricket and I was there more to help with technical issues in their game and advice. The team was served well by its captain Georgia Reid. Georgia, who was also the team’s wicketkeeper, always set a good attacking field, backed the bowlers and encouraged fielders. When each game started the team would look to Georgia for guidance. Also, there was no sledging on the field by our players even if our players had received it. Every player in the team could put the pressure on the batsman with keen fielding. I thought that the most impressive piece of fielding was Brayden Jones’s slip catching. Not many people can make slips catching look that easy. Our bowling was our strength. We had the best team bowling average in the competition. The team believed every time they went out to bowl that we could bowl the other team out for approximately fifty run or less. We did this no less than four times. Once we bowled a team out for 37. Every person in our team had the ability to bowl and therefore everyone bowled every game. Every person in the team got a wicket including Georgia our wicketkeeper. Our bowling attack consisted of many styles but broadly speaking we had two

20 whippy fast bowlers in Baden Chant and Curtis Sweet. Then we had our tall 6 ft. brigade who hit the deck hard and would get extra bounce - they were James Horn, Terence Lambropoulos, and Brayden Jones. Our leg spinners consisted of Brendan Thomas who could consistently land his leg spinners and had a mean fast ball. Josh Fitt has developed good flight and bounce with his leg spinners. Our medium pacers made key break throughs or kept the runs down. They were Nochi Wakeford, Ayden Vangi and Thomas Jackson (who surprised everyone with two wickets in one over against Bosco). Unfortunately, the one down side this year was our batting. We simply did not score enough runs. Georgia made a well compiled 50 and Curtis 49runs and there were some good cameo innings by others. We seemed to fall victim to the 20/20 batting syndrome where batsman would come out and try to hit every ball to the boundary without taking time to get in and get used to the bowling first. We needed far more patience. There was enough batting talent in the team to stay in longer, use all of the 60 overs and compile bigger scores. Finally, I would like to thank our manager/ scorer/ and the person who put out the boundaries each week – Scott Chant. Scott’s management of the team generally was exceptional. I would like to thank the parents that got involved and helped from time to time and the parents that came down to support their child and the team. I would like to wish the best to Curtis who is going to men’s cricket next year, Georgia who is probably going to concentrate more on women’s grade cricket and Nochi who now lives in the St George area and will be finding a team a closer to home. Hope you all continue to play next year. Nicholas Horn

A 1 Team Report No way around it, a disappointing season to run 6th after managing 3rd last season. However still a lot of positives to take from the season, with many of the guys stepping up at different times, often doing jobs they had little experience in. If we can manage to consistently field 11 next season then the experience gained this season could well prove to be invaluable. Plus we need to start consistently scoring more than 100 runs an innings, that might help. Mathew Christison: Struggled a bit for fluency (not alone) but managed to scrape together a couple of decent innings. In perhaps the biggest shock of the season, actually bowled a few overs, and even more surprisingly wasn’t absolutely destroyed. Turns out miracles do happen. Matthew Darby: Bloody Pom! Stepped up with the bat to open up all season, always looking good despite getting a deceptively low return in the stats. Also had anther solid year with the ball, finishing second on the wickets tally and having many important spells, most notably round 2 where he and Sils barely went for a run in the last 10 overs to score a win over Gymea when they had been cruising to victory. Dylan Dule: Once again missed a fair chunk of the season, but still managed a few important innings as well as finishing 3rd in wickets. Hugely important to the make up of the side as was best demonstrated by absences, his aggressive batting was always dangerous. Also very dangerous with the ball, with his leg spin ripping through a couple of teams while his pace bowling was always dangerous but never quite seemed to get the results it deserved. Also closed the season with a typically amazing catch that leaves the batsmen standing there wondering why it wasn’t a boundary. Tim Gosper: Started the season as a fill in, ended up barely missing a game. Typical men’s cricket I suppose. Always great around the group, and a valuable backup keeper. His unorthodox batting technique looked dangerous at times without ever quite coming off, while his standards in the field never slipped, looking devastated at dropped “catches” that everyone else consider to be brilliantly saved boundaries. Yohan Sharma: Always passionate, showed excellent control with his offies to top the wickets this season with 23 at an average of under 12. Didn’t have his best season with the bat, but still contributed at different times, including guiding the team home in round 12 in what was effectively a wooden spoon play off. Vaughn Sheffield: Once again bowled with great control (mostly) but didn’t quite reap the rewards of last season. Also stepped up with the bat to spend most of the season in the top order, stabilising innings where early wickets had fallen (so quite a bit unfortunately). His figures don’t reflect his performances with bat or ball this season, but hopefully that’ll even out next year. Ryan Silburn: Back to at or at least near full pace (when he bothered to be in the country anyway) always had batsmen nervous and keen to be off strike. Often unlucky with edges flying everywhere but to hand. In a big change, became a bit of a lower order hitter with the bat as well, but remained capable of digging us out of trouble as he did with a very important 60 in round 5. Tim Swyer: Definitely suffers from the bowling depth of the team, not getting the turn he probably deserves. Retains his valuable partnership breaker role however, and never lacks for commitment. Also had a memorable season with the bat, most notably hitting a big six to get off the mark at the Ridge in round 8. Hopefully a sign of things to come. Adam Thomson: Our Kiwi friend (unlucky in the final there mate) showed tremendous commitment by returning to the country to play. Had to step up to primary wicket keeper, and handled it with his typical relaxed attitude and high quality. Had an improved season with the bat, chiming in with some important runs when needed. Bradley Wong: Didn’t quite get the return I’m sure he was looking for, but never stopped trying nonetheless. Opened under difficult circumstances, often fighting hard without necessarily getting the rewards he deserved. Also continues to be under bowled (seriously, who captains this side?).

22 Glen Wong: Last played with us in B3’s 4 years ago, so no doubt that coming back into A1’s was a step up. Struggled for fluency a bit, but fought hard many times. Played an important supporting knock with Yoey in round 12 to ensure that we didn’t finish last, which by then was about a good as it got.

B 3 Team Report

The 2014/15 season has been yet another brilliant and fun one for the IMCC B3 team. After being promoted from B6’s, we finished this season in second position on an incredibly tight competition ladder – the team that finished 5th missed the semi final by a single wicket. This season, our batting has continued to improve, seeing us post our largest team total yet and finish with the grade’s highest team batting aggregate (2604 runs) and average (22.64); and our bowling has been as consistent as ever, taking the highest number of wickets (135 at 16.57) in the grade for the season. Although we lost the semi-final in an absolute heart breaker to eventual premiers, Engadine, it was another season in which we had a stack of fun and played some impressive and competitive cricket.

24 As is becoming the norm for us, we were slow off the mark, losing the first game to eventual premiers, Engadine. However, we were able to turn this around very quickly to put in an impressive performance to beat Loftus, scoring 9/317 off just 41.4 overs, thanks largely to a brutal 161 from Ryan Stafford. We ended up with a 5-1 win-loss record in the two-day games this season, with our most memorable performance with the bat coming in round 3 against Gymea Bay (at Woronora Heights – one of the bigger grounds in the Shire). In that game we batted first and amassed 7/445 from our 60 overs, including a century from Ben Vanmidde and an amazing cameo at the end of the innings from Jasdeep Singh of 91* from half as many deliveries. Our best fielding performance in the two-day games came against Bangor Comets in Round 4 – after setting them 241 to win, Bangor were cruising towards the total, despite a storm interrupting proceedings for about an hour. But the never say die attitude of our team kicked in and we were able to bowl them out for 220, with about 9 deliveries to spare. The one-day games this season threw up some very exciting and close matches; we finished with a 4-2 record. Our best one-day performance with the ball came in round 8 against Engadine; with only 9 men on a smallish field (Sutherland No.2) and storms closing in, we convincingly defended 142, bowling Engadine out for just 56 (and the rain started coming down as we walked off the ground)! The highlight one-day game with the bat came in round 10 against Gymea Bay (again!). Batting first we scored 4/307 from our 40 overs, including another PB for Ryan of 182; the opening partnership with Justin Mealing was worth 247 runs with the first wicket falling in the 35th over! The semi final against Engadine was yet another cracking game of cricket. Played on the same day as the ICC CWC pool match between and New Zealand, this match had a similar grandstand finish. Playing on a very large ground (Heathcote No.1) with long grass, scoring was extremely difficult. Engadine sent us in, bowling us out for 75. While that was obviously lower than we’d hoped, we backed ourselves to defend it. We fought hard in the field, not conceding a single boundary the entire innings, and when Engadine’s 9th wicket fell at 72, the game was on a knife’s edge. Unfortunately for us, on the last ball of the 46th over Engadine scored the winning run, fittingly off a French cut. They went on to be the premiers, convincingly beating Bangor Comets in the final. So after playing two semis and two finals in the last five seasons, we’re yet to break our finals duck – hopefully next season the result will fall our way… Our batting has unquestionably been our strength this season, yet consistency is still something on which we can improve. The main contributions with the bat came from Ryan Stafford (636 runs at 70.67), Greg Granger (311 at 28.27), Jasdeep Singh (263 at 23.91) and Ben Vanmidde (209 at 29.86). Our bowling attack has continued to be consistent all season. Significant contributions came from Michael Feggans (29 wickets at 14.14), Dan Morgan (28 at 14.00), Nic Sheridan (19 at 16.26), Alex Seymour (18 at 12.94) and Joey Morgan (11 at 34.82). While every single player has made important contributions during the season, some of which have been discussed above, the team awards this season go to:  Ryan Stafford – for 636 runs at an average of 70.67, Ryan is the clear winner of both the Batting Aggregate and Batting Average awards. Ryan also took an impressive 9 catches and 1 run out this season, plus two wickets.  Michael Feggans – for 29 wickets at an average of 14.14, Feggs just pipped Dan for the Bowling Aggregate award. As one of our opposition players so eloquently put it, *%#$ you, Feggans…! ;)  Alex Seymour – for 18 wickets at an average of 12.94, Seymour takes out the Bowling Average award.  Kieran Burgess – with 102 runs at an average of 17.00, 5 wickets at 9.40 (including a match- winning spell of 4/40 in round12), 12 keeper catches and 3 fielding catches (including some absolute rippers…and a pirouette!), plus endless enthusiasm and always good for a laugh on and off the field, he is a very deserving joint winner of the Team Player of the Year award.  Jasdeep Singh – scoring 263 runs at an average of 23.91 (including a brilliant 91* in round 3 and his match-winning 40* in round 9), 7 wickets at 19.43 and a run out, Jasdeep was the best all- round performer in our team this season (plus unwittingly conferring on me a new “nickname”), all of which has earned him the joint Team Player of the Year award.

25 A big thanks to the guys that have filled in for us at various times this season – Blake Cugley (2 catches, plus an invaluable innings of 10 runs in round 9 that helped us win a very tight contest) and Andy White (an impressive 5/23 and 22 runs on debut in round 1, plus being really consistent with the bat, scoring 20-30 runs almost every time he batted, including a few little gems of innings that enabled us to win games that were slipping away. Andy finished with 122 runs at 30.50.). Finally, to the regular boys, another massive thanks for all of your contributions and efforts this season. It has been another fantastic season both on and off the field, and you should all be very proud of what we’ve achieved, the way you’ve conducted yourselves and the way in which we have thoroughly enjoyed every moment in each other’s company. As clichéd as it sounds, the loss of Phillip Hughes this summer truly was shocking and heartbreakingly tragic. It has taken a long time to sink in. For the first time since I started playing cricket 22 years ago, I really didn't feel much like playing cricket the weekend after he passed away. But Hughesy's death brought into sharp focus what a privilege it is to be able to play cricket with my mates every Saturday arvo during summer. Boys, it has been an absolute pleasure to play alongside you in the team we've built over the last 5 years, and I'm looking forward to that continuing for as long as possible. In continuing to play next season and beyond, we will continue to honour Phil Hughes' memory, and continue to enjoy each other's mateship.

See you next season boys! Dan(e) Morgan

B 4 Team Report The makeup of the team changed a bit this year, gone were most of the juniors and to replace them we welcomed a few old heads into the team, the average age of the team had just sky rocketed. The 2014/15 season started well with a good turnout to some preseason training. Many of the guys that hadn’t played for a few years were probably wondering just what they had got themselves into at this time. The season started well, no injuries, and some standout bowling displays by Zoran, a 7/60 and 5/71, and Jordan 5/48. Its always a pleasure to be on the field watching a bowler that has it all over the opposition batsmen, even better when the bowler is on your side. These bowling performances were supported by equal spells, yet often not as well rewarded, by Jason Brook, Brad, Craig and Steve. Jason Holmewood, was the rock of the batting order, constantly scoring runs under any circumstance. Jim also put in an amazing display on 71 no to top the batting scores late in the season. Zoran and Eric also displayed amazing patience and determination when sent in at the top of the order. During the season there were some terrific batting displays and some amazing bowling spells, unfortunately these never coincided in the same innings, and we always seemed to fall short of the finish line. It was good to see the new members of the team being able to contribute and enjoy themselves, no matter what the result, thanks to Brad, Grades, Gilly, Eric, Carl and Jim. As with all teams with an average age over 40, there were a few injuries during the year, Brad (ankle), Carl (achilles), Eric (back) but this is a considerable improvement over last season, maybe the preseason practice did help. This years STI award goes to Eric who strained his back while batting, and later passing out on the physio table. The true hero of the moment thought was the team captain Steve, who ran onto the field to administer some well-deserved treatment. From this experience Steve will never again answer the call of “does any one have some deep heat”. It was a season well enjoyed, not only for the on field play, but the off field entertainment. I look forward to a repeat performance next season.

B 5-1 Team Report Season 2014/15 for the B5/1s was an interesting season, finishing the season in 5th place and only narrowly missing the finals. A wise former team mate said you can measure the quality of the cricket season you have had by the number of 160+ scores an individual batsman has managed against you! Caringbah and St Pats must of had great seasons as Daniel Foster managed to score 187 and 196 not out against those sides, along with Jarrod Twomey's 162 also against Caringbah. Daniel Foster hit a third century for the season against Como with 100 not out. There were other batsman who posted scores of 50+, Harry Burrows (66 not out), Brent Davies (52 and 56 not out), Ben Weldon (59 not out and 52) as well as Daniel Foster hitting two more 50+ scores and Jarrod Twomey hitting three scores of 53 (once he gets past that 53 he makes it a big score). Our leading 28 run scorer was Daniel Foster with an incredible 785 runs at an average of 98.13. Jarrod Twomey finished with 428 runs, Mitchell Dayhew 233 runs and Ben Weldon 210 runs, as the major run scorers. Other great batting achievements in 2014/15 were the Fish hitting his highest ever score of 29, Special K playing two brutal innings hitting 47 runs off 20 odd balls to finish off two innings in two weeks. Mitchell Dayhew and Jimmy Stephanou stepped up to spearhead our bowling, well supported by Allan Thomas, Baden Chant and Shane Harding. Mitchell topped our wickets with 25 at an average of 15. Jimmy (18), Baden and Shane (13 each), Allan and Ben (11 each) were our top wicket takers for the season. Allan taking 7 wickets in an innings in round one, bowling us to victory, was a massive highlight, bookended by Ben Weldon bowling 32 overs over two innings in the final round to almost get us an outright victory and a finals appearance. Over the season there were many funny moments and comments! Jarrod found true love, in a Como opening bowler, Jagdale. An inspiring opening spell in which no fewer than three balls landed on the pitch, each of which was followed by a high pitched squeal of excitement/appeal that resulted in something that can only be compared to Shane Warne's ball of the century. A ball that managed to go higher than it did further, and Coldplay having time to play thirty shots to the one ball, but instead offering a chance to the point fieldsman, luckily for him he wasn't caught and went on to make a well deserved 49! Nice bucket hat, does it come in mens? Thank you to those we play against who wear dodgy and very crappy hats! An appropriately named facebook chat group followed in which Daniel Foster took advantage of any net bowler that was available! Special thanks must go to Baden Chant and James Horn from our 16C team, who filled in throughout the season and performed amazingly well. Baden scoring 107 runs @ 15 and 13 wickets @ 18 with 4 catches. James scored 21 runs @ 10.5 and took 4 wickets @ 25.5. Both contributing well during the season and proving to themselves they have what it takes to play seniors cricket. The opportunities they took with us also saw them perform well for their junior side. A special mention goes out to Jordan Fisher, taking out the team player award due to his positive attitude and never say die attitude in the field. Without fail Jordan would turn up each week and would do everything asked of him with a smile and a willingness to learn to improve his cricketing skills. 2014/15 can be looked back upon as a success. If we keep a similar team together for next season, we could take out the competition in 2015/16. A wonderful season. Ben Weldon B5/1 Captain

B 5-2 Team Report The 2014/15 season was a tumultuous journey for the B5-2’s (henceforth referred to as “The Bomber’s”) who endured the unlikely circumstance of a grade reshuffle, a purple patch of good form at the start of the season and a horrific form collapse in the last quarter of the season to complete the year in fourth position on the table. Starting the season in B6’s with one outright and one win, the (yet to be named) Bomber’s were moved up to the B5’s where the good form continued until Christmas. Things then took a turn for the worst, with The Bombers completing a spectacular nosedive to find themselves outside finals contention. However, through the ups and downs, the 2014/15 season turned out to be one of the most enjoyable from a personal perspective, with the good times often transferring themselves from classic on-field antics to spectacular off-field shenanigans. With the bat the standouts for the season were Tim Mattison, Jacob Miller and Mitchell Currie, who all passed 200 runs for the year (with Tim cracking 300). Credit also goes to Harry Bloyce, Jaymie Holden, James Kerr, Peter Lambropoulos, Jon Maratheftis, Kurt “The Rainbro” Savage and Ben Towell for all cracking 100 runs for the season. Congratulations go out to Terence Lambropoulos and Joel Baurycza who scored their first runs in senior cricket. Condolences go out to Tim Mattison and Jacob Miller, who both fell agonisingly short of milestones this year (Tim on 96 and Jacob on 49); better luck next time boys! The highlight innings of the season definitely goes to Ben Towell for his blistering 78 in 10 over’s in the second innings in round one, which guided us to an outright win chasing 93 in less than one hour. Great knock, mate! With the ball a new king was crowned, with Ben Towell showing why he is the most useful thing in the universe, collecting a club-high 36 wickets (10 clear of the nearest competitor) for the season at an alright average of 10.44. Two of his most memorable spells were the 8-58 off 15.2 overs against St Pat’s 2 in round thirteen; and 4-4 off 1.3 overs in the second innings against Carringbah Inn in round three to secure The Bombers their second outright of the year. Amazingly, some of our other bowlers also got wickets, with Harry Bloyce, Jaymie Holden, Tim Mattison, Jacob Miller, Karlton Pollard and Kurt “The Rainbro” Savage the regular contributors. The pie-throwers also had their moments, with Daniel Besz and James Kerr doing their bit against Gymea in round four. However, Jarrod Salmon’s masterclass in pie throwing in round five against Illawong B5-1’s was by far the seasons best serving of fruit loops. After being carted for 14 off his first over, a brave captain persevered with the Fish, who went on to take a match winning 3-8 off the next three overs, including two wickets in two balls; one of which dismissing the dangerous Daniel Foster for his first below-50 dismissal of the season. Top spell, Fish! Condolences should also go out to Joel Baurycza, who in his first ever over in cricket delivered a maiden, only for the captain (probably jealous of the fact that it took him six seasons to bowl his first maiden) to drag him from the attack the very next over and never bowl him again. Sorry mate! In the field, The Bombers could only be described by a word which starts with “S”, rhymes with “Hithouse” and is colloquially used as a synonym for the phrase “not very good”. Many a catch was put down this year, frustrating our bowlers no end. Clanger of the year must go to the captain, who dropped the easiest ever short leg catch in round five against Illawong B5- 1’s off the bowling of Jaymie Holden, giving future Bomber all-rounder Mitchell Dayhew a lifeline and a good chuckle. Jacob Miller was the odd one out in the field for The Bombers this season, taking the majority of catches that came his way to win fielder of the year for Illawong with 14 catches (6 clear of the nearest competitor). James Kerr also managed to retain his Illawong keeper of the year title with 17 dismissals (2 clear of the nearest competitor). This feat means that he is the first person in Illawong history to claim both the club’s “keeper of the year” title and the team’s “worst keeper of the year” title in the same year. It is unlikely that this feat will be achieved by any other future cricketer. While the on-field antics could well be described as bipolar, off the field The Bombers grew closer than ever. Optional net sessions were often well attended, especially by the bowlers who were all eager to exploit the notorious “Casurina Crack”. In this regard, special mention should go out to Harry Bloyce, whose unwavering commitment to the “Casurina Crack” often left him a bit dusty on game days. While we desperately required fielding practice at these net sessions, our first attempt at such training left Joel Baurycza hospitalised with a badly dislocated finger. It was then rightfully adjudicated that fielding practice was “a bad idea” and it never happened again. A new feature of the season for The Bombers this year was the introduction of mandatory training sessions, which saw just as much good and poor form as what occurred on the field. Daniel Besz, Jacob Miller and Karlton Pollard in particular put in some stellar training performances throughout the season, cementing their place in Bomber folklore. Jacob Miller’s own personal training regime regularly left his teammates in awe, with his training sessions often seamlessly blending into game-day commitments at both ends of the match. All in all, while this season may not have ended well on the field for The Bombers, it was a thoroughly enjoyable year and it is hoped that you all return again for another season next year. Special thanks goes to the part time Bombers – Joel Baurycza, Mitchell Currie, Jaymie Holden, Terence Lambropoulos and Lou Maratheftis – for filling in when the troops were low. Hopefully The Bombers will return bigger and better next year and claim that first ever-elusive flag! Jon Maratheftis.

B 7 Team Report A season of great highs and pretty ordinary lows. We were the only team in our grade to win TWO games outright ! Ok, the first one WAS against six players BUT we did win outright in the first week of a 2 day game. And the second was a stunning performance with both bat and ball. In between we struggled with limited numbers during the HSC and ‘schoolies’ trips ; but mostly we just struggled to score enough runs to match our excellent bowling and fielding. While we never lost outright, and had a better average for wicket taking than the top two teams , we were about 500 to 600 runs short of their totals for the season. So finishing sixth was understandable. We were, however, psychologically disorientated by the forced regrading from C1 s (where we belonged) to B7s (where we never planned to be). All excuses aside, we had an enjoyable season with the usual mix of laughs, banter, sledging, etc etc.

31 Josh Barber, Matt Cartwright and Lachlan Fanger were welcome additions to the team this season – Josh with 11 wickets, Matt with 10, and Lachlan some valuable runs in the tail including a valuable 14 n.o. The young ‘old guard’ from last season again formed the backbone of the team stats : Andy Grose with 26 wickets at less than 10 runs had some fiery spells (and some fiery spells of the mouth !) ; James Neilsen had some great moments in the field and some near decapitations of batsmen( and keeper); Keefe Cheung starred as opening bat and took some amazing catches and a few wickets; Jamie Feggans was handy with 11 wickets and a 34no where no-one would stay with him so he could get a 50 (or so he complained); Michael Ishak was tight with his bowling and great with the bat, with an 82 that deserved a ton; Adrian Scott was his usual bewildering bowling self with right angle turn (a pity he doesn’t know which direction), mixed with some batting staying power at the tail; Lachlan Farrell always threatened a runout in the field and contributed well with the bat including a thrilling 50; while Will Liston and Tom Lundie made only fleeting, but always much appreciated, appearances this season. So it was left to the old ‘old guard’ to add the finesse to the boldness of youth: John Ishak with 15 wickets at the most measly average plus some excellent opening partnerships ; Rick Farrell as the Mark Bosnich behind the stumps flinging himself at some of the young blokes’ rubbish; Peter Neilsen solid as always with the bat, a safe pair of hands,(when not splitting one open) and entertaining all those behind the stumps; Graeme Lundie stepping admirably into the keeper’s role and saving byes from balls that started outside leg and just kept going that way; and Rob Feggans with the happy knack of remaining not out as number 11 and beating a lot of the young’uns’ averages with very few runs. Another very memorable season – what else would you want to be doing on a hot Saturday arvo ? Hopefully, we can get the group back together with a few former colleagues for a tilt at the premiership next season; or at least for some laughs and good times again.
